Inconsistent food here. Some days you get carnitas on your taco. Other days you get all fat in your taco. I don't know how they could miss the lobster claw-like mass of fat while serving it up. Service is...meh. Very slow in helping customers, and lazy cooks. I will not eat here again. read more

A very basic menu here - tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. Chips and salsa are extra, at three dollars. There are several meats served with these items. I had a couple tacos de lengua and there was very little lengua in it - most of the "meat" was fat and gravy. It did taste good however and the tacos were large. The place is fairly new it seems and not very professionally run. Get your gooey, fat, tasty tacos soon before they go out of business. It was OK but I can hardly see how people give five stars to a place with no exterior ambiance and barely any inside. There are a few regular tables and a few Subway-style booths, the kind where the sharp edges of the table dig into your forearms. The only decor is a few pieces of colorful Mexican cloth hanging like curtains between the booths. That's a start, but ambiance is really lacking. It's not really a very clean looking place overall, including the dining area and bathroom. We would never have stopped here based on seeing it from the outside and only did due to good Yelp reviews. I'm afraid I don't agree. As for the food, we tried a torta and a burrito. Both were fine. I agree with the other reviewers that the grilled meat (we had chicken) was the best part, but there really wasn't anything special about the food otherwise. Unfortunately, good grilling doesn't make up for the many mediocre aspects of this restaurant. read more

Just moved here and was craving quick and delicious mexican food. Came to this place cuz of the yelp reviews. Walked in ordered carne asada burrito hubby had asada nachos. Went to sit down, noticed floor wasnt swept, could see dust in the air. Flies flying around the window and there were about 10 dead flies on the sill. We finally got our food and needless to say but we were disappointed. Beans tasted like they are out of a can, rice cooked in the microwave. They put lettuce on his nachos which made them soggy when he got his food. Food is bland. We dont recommend this place. However you may have a different experience. read more

Ok, I have to say I miss the BBQ ladies (former occupants of this building). But, alas, they are gone. So I decided to try this new restaurant (new to me) since Mexican is my favorite cuisine. I have to say, this place rocks! It will now be my "go to" eats when I am in Yreka on my way to and home from visiting my daughter in Santa Rosa. I ordered the Carne Asada dinner. The portions are huge! Everything tasted great. Their beans are whole beans which I really appreciate. I especially like their chunky salsa. My only complaint was the salad was over dressed and limp. But since it's more of a garnish, it was no big deal. I did notice that they have some BBQ on their menu. The next time I'm through, I'll try one of the BBQ items. read more

I've tried this place twice and both times I've regretted it! First time they had just opened in there first building and the service was HORRIBLE, the place was really dirty and the food was gross. So I tried a second time a few months later just decided the first time could be from being a new business and all well this time I went when they moved to their second building and all the food tasted like bacon like it was all cooked inside the same pan or something It was nasty, when I asked questions about the food all I got was a rude response, haven't been there sense!! My current favorite is their adobada burrito. Get it with the hot sauce if you can stand the heat. If you get it with the mild it isn't quite as yummy. Kids (6 and 8) are loving their chicken tacos. I made tacos at home tonight and they complained that they weren't El Zaguan tacos. read more

I'm not really sure why the reviews were so high for this place. They lured me in and I'm disappointed. The food was just ok. I had a steak burrito and it wasn't anything special. Most bothersome was the state of cleanliness. This place is in dire need of a deep cleaning. So dirty. The ice was hauled down in bucket from somewhere upstairs and poured into the soda machine. The kitchen was foul. The bathroom was filthy...I came here because of the rating but I was sorely mislead. read more

The tacos are great! Burritos hit and miss. Not enough cheese and ingredients are not evenly distributed. The place has bad ambiance and yes it looks dirty. I don't know why they don't slap some fresh paint on the door. The walls are decorated with flames. The food is good though. Just close your eyes and get it to go. read more
