Great food, mediocre service: I was passing through Lompoc with my family on a day trip. Thanks to my fellow yelpers I discovered this restaurant. My wife and I each had the taquitos (beef & chicken) and they were delicious. The chips and salsa (which I was not charged for a refill) were excellent. However the service was mediocre. The waitress was playing three roles (waitress, hostess, bartender) when we visited and she was not able to accomplish all three successfully. While she was distracted often, she was very friendly and as prompt as she could be considering her triple duty. I recommend going here if you want good Mexican food. read more

I am going to start by saying I am not Hispanic, nor do I know authentic Hispanic food...but I am a good cook and most restaurants fail to impress me. I like El Toro Bronco and it is the place I go when I crave some Mexican food. t is always nice to get chips and salsa for starters, and the main entrees are very tasty. Most I have tried have a good amount of heat to it, nothing overpowering (I do love spicy foods though) but enough to have your taste buds start to merengue. I also like getting a beer here, it just feels like the kind of atmosphere one can loosen up a bit in, without the rowdiness of a bar. Another perk for this restaurant, compared to almost every other in Lompoc, is it seems clean...as in it doesnt feel so dirty I hardly want to rest my hand on the table- like how all the other lompoc restuarants make me feel. Our service has always been good, although I think a few of the waitresses hardly speak English, but they know enough to take an order and are attentive to the table (like when to bring another round of chips). Overall, El Toro Bronco has some tasty Mexican food, although like I stated I can not speak as to how "Authentic" it is. For an American it was great food. This is an average Mexican restaurant, they have a small area with TVs where you can enjoy watching sports. They have spicy but delicious chips and salsa, the food is pretty average, not the best but at the same time it isn't plain like other Mexican places. The staff was friendly. Took my granddaughter to have lunch. We ordered take out. She was so excited. We ordered a childs enchilada, shirley temple, three shrimp tacos and beans. $29.80. I asked for chips and salsa. No. We don't give chips and salsa on take out orders. Do you want to order those? Seriously? At $29.80 you don't throw in chips and salsa? Got home. Granddaughter could not eat the enchilada as it was covered in the red sauce. Drowning in it actually. I loved coming here all the time. It was my favorite restaurant. Service was always great and I always tipped very generously. But now their service is horrible. They have a girl there that goes by the name China who is completely rude and inconsiderate. She didn't even want to give me a military discount. Once I got my food home (about 5 min drive) I looked at it and it was cold and it looked like it was microwaved and the cheese wasn't even fully melted like always. It looks like someone puked a burrito out. We returned the food back and she didn't seem to care about our complaints about the food and service. She only gave us attitude and short answers. I will give this restaurant one more shot and if the service and quality is still not up to par with what I used to always experience then I won't ever step into that restaurant again. read more

I stopped in for lunch the other day and ordered a wet burrito and I have to say it was alright. Not super awesome and not horrible but ok. The size of the burrito was decent but the flavor was on the safe side of bland. The server was really nice and the food came out right away but there was only 3 people in the whole restaurant. Unremarkable food. Pretty much everything tastes the same. Chips were plentiful. Salsa watery and not really better than store bought. I've had better guacamole from Costco but it was OK otherwise. The entree was not particularly flavorful and largely indistinguishable from the refried beans. Hopefully Lompoc has better Mexican food than this somewhere. If I could give it no stars I would. We decided to have lunch here even after walking in and noticing that the place had a smell that didn't seem natural. We were surprised that for being lunch rush time the place was empty but what the hell right well now we know why. The service and the food are horrible. We could never find our waitress and their was only two other tables for her to service. We ordered the chimichangas and they were so greasy that oil poured out as I cut mine and it made a pool. As a local, this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Lompoc. The service is great, and the food is delicious, atmosphere charming. They have the best menudo in town, although they only serve it on the weekends. It's well worth the wait. If you want something different for breakfast, check out their breakfast menu. We ate here because it was close to our hotel. I do not recommend this place. The service was horrible. The food was not good! They forgot to give us salsa for a long while till we had to ask. My family all got there food and were half done by the time I got mine. They put bacon on my vegetarian quesadilla. Soooooo good. I had the chicken fajita quesadilla. It was awesome! Very cheesy and chicken had been marinated in some kind of sauce, I'm not sure what it was but it gave it tons of flavor. The only negative I have to mention is the Cadillac margarita. Its $11.50 and it wasn't very good. I honestly can't even put my finger on what was wrong with it, I just didn't care for it. Well this was a surprising find. I had the abongandas soup. Spicy and Savory. Went with the enchiladas suizas. I like that you can get veggies instead of rice on the side. The Cadillac margarita was strong and delicious. I wish the salsa was spicier. I sat at the bar and the manager was very nice. I would go back the next time I am here. read more
