Shrimp cocktail
Aaronela O.

Service was on the slow side, but the shrimp cocktail was delicious. Margaritas were a little on the weak side, but 2 for $5, really can't complain. Customer service was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Good variety on the menu.

"Chips and guac" was really nothing but tomatoe .

Corona was a buck , which was the only cool thing . The margaritas were pretty gross too. The margaritas were really hot and flavorless . Balcony view was nice , but the drinks weren't good. I ordered the chips and guac it was the most disgusting chips and guac I've ever ordered. It was barley any guac . The guac had more tomatoes and onion than anything. Service sucked. He took forever to come attend my table so I had to get up myself and ask for what I wanted. Never coming to this place again.

Mixed molcajete -- hot stone bowl with chicken, beef, shrimp, cactus, chorizo, etc. Delicious sauce! Comes with tortillas

Service is generally too slow in Tijuana, but El Torito definitely takes the cake for being so incredibly slow with receiving your food and even slower for paying your bill. I enjoyed the food we tried, which wasn't all that cheap, but the drinks were cheap -- $1 Corona bottles and refreshing and creamy pina coladas for around $4. I was told the tacos here are just okay, and you're better off getting it from a street cart, so my friends and I got a mixed molcajete and fajitas. Really loved the molcajete which had an amazing sauce and a huge piece of cactus stuck on the lip of the hot stone bowl. There is live mariachi music here and a (full) outdoor balcony overlooking the main (tourist) street of TJ. During your meal you can expect random vendors to come up to you to sell cheap bracelets, watches, etc. There is only ONE vendor you should pay attention to. It's an older gentleman who handmakes custom necklaces ($15) and bracelets ($8) out of metal wire. He can bend it to spell out your name and it is really amazing. You'll find yourself buying multiples for friends back home (and mom. Don't forget mom!)

You get a great I view of the Revolucíon from here. The restaurant is super modern and everyone speaks English. Great musics and great food.

It's a simple menu here, with food prices that are expensive. The service was good, the waiter was friendly and responsive. I do agree the balcony seating is nice, overlooking Ave Revolucion...but the inside is not as pleasant...obviously the looks of a dive bar. I ordered the fajitas, but with vegetables only. I enjoyed that fajita flavor, it was strong but tasted good. You get a side of tortillas, and also beans and rice...but I didn't really care for the beans or rice...there wasn't much flavor to them. The chips and salsa were good...the salsa was a dark red/orange salsa...but not too spicy. This place might be better suited just for happy hour drinks as you can find cheaper food around the corner.

Really enjoyed the carne asada fajitas!! They also had coronas for a buck, which was pretty cool. We sat up on the balcony and had a nice view of Avenida Revolución, which we really enjoyed even as frequent TJ visitors. The waiter was nice and friendly and got our order right. We'll definitely be back next time!

Not sure why the negative reviews. Price seems ok, and food was amazing!! First time in TJ as an adult (haven't been here since I was 15). First restaurant that looked decent was this one, so I stopped by and don't regret my decision! I had the beef molcajate, never had it before, not sure why, but this thing was so freaking delicious! Michelada was ok, was expecting more from it. Horchata was also ok, not terrible though. Staff was super friendly and were checking on me every 10 mins. Defiantly coming back here again!

what a hoot this place is! i'm sure if i was back in my college days it would be a 5 star spot for me...but i'm not ...i'm a tad bit older. i still love TJ like i did when i was 18-20 years old, but in a totally different way. We generally do not venture onto Revolucion these days...but El Torito somehow works it's way into our evening ... drinks are NOT cheap... atmosphere IS cheap! foam parties are scary gross as it is...but in TJ it is quite mortifying! bucket's o beer on the patio are great for people watching on the street... margarita's are like cups o sugar if you want one of those good ol' whistle shots...they will oblige you...i'll pass ps...there is a tattoo shop onsite in case you are in the market for a TJ tattoo!

Avoid this place! Complete rip off!!!!! The margaritas are not even made with tequila. Worst experience I've ever had in TJ.

If you want real Mexican food, run away from this place. It's so disgusting, waste of money. The service is also horrible.
