I took some friends from San Diego to visit this brewery and we were delighted by the convenient location and excellent service. But the main star of the show is their beer, as it should be. I started off with their Sessions IPA "En la Terraza", followed by their "Vanilla Latte Stout", then I had their "Old School" IPA, and ended with their "No Hazy" Hazy double IPA (by far their best, and most delicious beer, I bought a couple of cans to bring back home with me). A little tipsy but super happy. Mamut brewery provides a very open space with different sitting settings, yummy food, and a modern/contemporary feeling to its premises. I was impressed with how quickly the staffed cleared off and cleaned the tables after they were vacated. We sat down and ordered a carne frias (i.e. meat lovers) pizza and the carne asada nachos to split between the group. The food was nothing special for bar fare, but my expectations weren't high when the total equivalent US price was approximately $12. It was helpful to learn from other customers that the line to the left side of the bar was designated to order food only. I didn't drink any of the beer, but my friends who did imbibe seemed to enjoy the brews for such a low price.

In the past I have always ordered from the drink specials menu... you can get lit with a pretty small bar tab if you do that. On this visit I had a Don Julio blanco margarita and it was probably one of the best margaritas I've ever had! It was simple and not too sweet. Service is prompt and efficient and friendly. I didn't hate it, but I certainly wasn't eager to come back. I ended up here with my friend on a Friday night, and as soon as I walked in I hear Stone Temple Pilots playing, followed by Depeche Mode.... a good sign! A pitcher of beer was only $120 pesos (eh... $8.50 dlls?)....a better sign! Didn't take long before we were on our 3rd pitcher singing our hearts out to some 90's band. Best of all, it wasn't crowded. Like, we could have an actual conversation without having to yell at each other. Perfect place to come with a large group of friends since the tables here are huge, and can easily fit a group of 10 people. Wouldn't necessarily recommend this place if you are trying to impress a lady friend, or if you're more into the "posh" bars/clubs. This bar didn't invest much in the decor, but that's kind of the charm.
