Jamaica Agua fresca
Michelle E.

More like 3.5 stars. I've been going to El Torito for years and this location is the nearest to my house. A friend wanted lunch and while I wasn't really hungry, figured I'd get something to drink at least. I will say, I'm kind of annoyed they took the Mahi Mahi tacos off the happy hour menu and years ago took away the fish option for the Taco Tuesday bar. I wasn't in the mood for alcohol - but do like their Blackberry Cadillac Margaritas when I am - so I ordered the Jamaica agua fresca. It was pretty good. Contrary to the menu text, refills are free. Chips and salsa are always solid, and still complimentary, so that's a plus. I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered a side of sweet corn cake, which has always been one of my favorite things on the menu, and it was solid. Service was fine, although a bit slow and they brought us the wrong check at first. It's a big, airy restaurant, so most of the time you should have little trouble walking in. All in all, a solid California Mexican dining experience.

Had a date with my boyfriend here. The restaurant is pretty and spacious. There was only one server so it did take a little while for us to order but we can't complain our server was really kind & attentive when he would pass by. The drinks we got were yummy. I feel like the plates we both ordered were okay. We did get cute pictures from the photographer. The ambience was nice but I think next time we go just order something else :)

Tri-tip with au jus

The El Torito AYCE Easter Brunch sounded like a great idea when we planned it. We attended the sunrise service at church so the timing for breakfast/early brunch at 8am was perfect. Although we were seated immediately when we arrived at 8:15am, it was obvious that they were not fully set-up. The cold seafood, soup, salad, dessert and breakfast were ready, but we weren't really interested in those. We waited for the carving section to be ready and the warm meat dishes to come out. The taco section took the longest, fully setting up almost at the end of our time there. Our server Jose was fantastic -- attentive and courteous. He came around often to refill drinks, clear dirty plates and ask how everything was going. The highlights for us were the tacos (al pastor and carnitas), tri-tip, birria, Chile Colorado, flan and plantains. We both loved the cilantro pepita sauce -- it was perfect on almost everything! A couple lowlights -- the churros were stale and although the tri-tip was flavorful it was a bit hard to eat since it wasn't cut against the grain. Needless to say, we were quite full when we were done. AYCE brunch happens every weekend. If we do return, we will reserve for mid-morning to avoid waiting for full-set-up. Parking is very easy in the large lot.

Papas rancheras

I ate here yesterday afternoon, the reservation was at 11 am. Mexican music plays through the speakers. Windows were a third of the size of the room I think. I ate a bunch of food. Papas rancheras were delicious because it was seasoned pretty well. I don't think I've had the machaca casera before yesterday. There are at least 7 TVs showing sports games. I loved the pozole which was at the soup station. You could add chili flakes to make it spicier or add onions or other toppings or ingredients. I got one taco from the taco station. The woman that worked there asked me what I wanted because I didn't tell her at first. I was deciding among chicken or carnitas or asada if I remember the options correctly. It was pretty good, I added cheese, onion, lettuce. The chicken was tender and juicy. The taco station was my favorite station. The waitress that served us was so attentive and polite. She asked us how we were doing every 10 or 15 minutes. She got us refills for our drinks, water and napkins.

El toritos is always amazing! Their happy hour menu, Never disappointed me not once! It's good that all of their locations are very consistent in service, food and drinks. I loved the layout at this location. They have outside seating as well if you would like to people watch. Their cantina is very spacious and intimate. Plenty of seating at the bar as well. I will forever love el toritos. If I'm around thjs location again, I will definitely come back during happy hour.

A Margarita flight

Came to El Torito in Northridge with a few friends for happy hour, and it ended up being a really good deal. The drinks were strong and tasty -- not watered down at all. Happy hour has good food and drink specials starting at $4, including draft beers, well drinks, and their signature margaritas. For food, there are options like $4 street corn and queso dip, up to about $8 for beef birria tacos and carne asada fries. I ordered a drink flight, carne asada fries, and a tamale and my total was around $47, which felt very reasonable for everything I got. The appetizers were inexpensive and hit the spot. Overall, the food was decent, but the real star here is the value during happy hour. If you're looking for a chill spot to grab affordable drinks and snacks with friends, the happy hour at this El Torito is definitely worth it.

Food is always decent here . They get substitutions right and i never have to send anything back . The shrimp bacon was a bit overdone and service can be sketchy they don't staff enough people . It's not the servers fault .

Hiow much is the Sunday brunch with the bottomless mimosas?

$35.00

What does bottomless mimosas cost for Sundays?

It comes included with the all you can eat brunch. It's about $30 bucks

Does the restaurant have any type of music? Live or anything?

It doesn't

How much is Sundays brunch at this Northridge location and what time is brunch?

It's about $30 per person as of 2022

Are they accommodating dine-in/outdoor seating right now?

Yes! Very nice extended patio☀️

Is Saturday and Sunday still all you can eat brunch?

Hi Rudy!!! On Saturday we have a brand new delicious breakfast menu. Prices vary depending on what you order and on Sunday we continue to have our famous Sunday brunch that is all you can eat and champagne is included. My name is Jose and my email…

Does the restaurant serve mimosas on Sunday brunch?

Heck yeah, and they keep them coming!

What time is happy hour?

3 PM to 11. Bar area only

Is the food gluten free?

You might be able to get something like fajitas and just get corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas and no rice (sub w/ extra beans or veggies). You would still need to confirm all seasonings and ingredients are gluten free.

When we asked where our food was, they realized they had never placed the order. There was no apology, no attempt to make things right, and no compensation for their mistake. To make matters worse, some members of our group went out to get food, and when three people tried to eat the food they brought back, the staff refused to let them. Instead of offering a reasonable compromise, they made the situation even more uncomfortable. After the staff made the mistake with our order and showed no willingness to fix the situation, we decided to close out our tab and leave. We took our business somewhere more welcoming and accommodating. When you have a group of 12 people spending money on drinks, the least you expect is decent service, communication, and a little understanding when the staff makes a mistake. Unfortunately, this place provided none of that. They lost out on more business because of how they handled the situation. I would not recommend this place based on our experience.

I got lucky with one on the corner but my friend had to park blocks down. Now i don't want to say she was being rude for the sake of it. It could be cause she's the only bartender handling a whole restaurant with no help and getting frustrated. One one occasion ordering with 2 other people who got food and drinks i said oh no drinks for me. And she took that as no food and started going to take someone else's order until i said hey i want food and she acted like i was holding her up from taking the other persons order telling them to be patient as if she needs to get over there. Never got my glass of water she was supposed to bring until i went back to the bar and paid for bottled water. Anytime i went to the bar i felt like i was burdening her lol. When i went back to order a burger after only ordering a salad prior i could only hope she wasn't mad that i was back up there. Karaoke on Thursdays happen here. A pool table. Untouched or updated from whenever construction was completed, it's got more Jerry-rigged piping and lighting and whatnot than MacGyver's play dungeon, but somehow it all works, and remains a great place to grab a shot or 12 if you're in Reseda. Famous for being cash only, and for pouring drinks stiffer than last week's cadaver, this unabashed dive bar attracts a crowd that can be friendly or fierce, depending on the time of day or the number of drinks consumed. But the staff is uniformly friendly (huge shout out to the always wonderful Rebecca), and, again, the generosity of the pours makes up for the other flaws in their flue. The walls are covered with more vendor-branded signs and mirrors than you can shake a swizzle stick at, and they've got several TV's playing the current games. They've also got a great juke box, a pool table, several mechanical dart boards, and one of those old time puck slider boards -- so if you're looking to compete with your fellow flies, there's ample opportunity. They don't serve food here, but they've got plenty of snacks available for purchase to counteract the gargantuan pours, and people bring in meals from the adjacent eateries. This is not the place you bring someone on a first date -- or a 50th -- but if you do bring in a mate, and they do say, "hey this is fun," then you should start shopping for curtains.
