El Torito used to have the best Happy Hour in town. It was ALWAYS 7 days a week. The menu changed every few months. For the past 5 years we have been coming here. Alvaro and Jose have always served up the best drinks. We have always sat in the cantina. Sometime around the world cup, they cut back on Happy Hour. Now its only 3:00-7:00pm Monday thru Friday. No more weekends. As a local resident I am very disappointed. I miss Happy Hour. I also miss the good deals they used to have. I really hope they bring it back. On a plus side Alvaro and the other bartender Jose are both great. Go and see them.

The family and I had a wonderful brunch buffet experience thanks to our server CAROLINA! We ate our fill and the kiddos even got an ice cream surprise overall love this El Torito location over the others in the area.

What a great value! The Weekday AYCE Lunch at El Torito... homemade street tacos with all the fixings... different salsa's, a beautiful salad bar, with make your own mini tostadas, chile verde, and colorado, and a great assortment of desserts, including my favorite flan... diffinitely the best flan around... $20 Monday to Friday 11am to 2pm... we came for Tuesday and left with something they do better... will be back soon. Oh yeah... Weekends are slammed and you need reservations... don't get me wrong... the weekend buffet here is A+... but weekdays no reservations needed... much more relaxed.

Wow, great and tasty food for 40$ This by far has been on of the best ones. I get reminded of a gigantic one from Las Vegas. I came with my father and we had an absolute great time. We kept saying how good the food tasted. The server was very attentive and the food was incoming never empty. Will definitely come back.

Oh my goodness! We were craving Mexican food, so we decided to stop by El Torito. What a chaotic experience it turned out to be! Our server was friendly, but he took our drink order and vanished for a whopping 20 minutes. When he finally returned, he brought our drinks but left our chips, salsa, and guacamole behind. After another 20 minutes, my husband suggested we move to the bar since we noticed people were getting their orders quicker. Finally, our server found us seated at the bar. After another 40 minutes of waiting, he apologized profusely and said, "Oh no, I forgot your chips! I'll be right back." Why bring them now after we've been waiting for so long? To make matters worse, we ordered the shrimp fajitas, and they were absolutely dreadful. The shrimp was slimy and tasteless, while the beans and rice were the only redeeming qualities. While they do have a great happy hour with excellent drinks, the service was atrocious. After spending $112.00, I wouldn't be returning to El Torito anytime soon.

Whenever I visit California, El Torito is an absolute must-visit. I always order the fajita salad, prepared table side with that incredible cilantro dressing -- my favorite. The salsa is delicious, with a slightly unique twist from what you typically find in Arizona Mexican restaurants, featuring roasted serrano peppers, jalapeños, fresh cilantro, garlic, lime juice, ground cumin, oregano, and salt. The flavors are fantastic, with just the right kick of spice. The restaurant's ambiance is always inviting and stylish, making the experience even better. I wish they were in Arizona..

El Torito is normally one of our go to places for a dine in restaurant. Unfortunately this location has continued to decline in quality and service. Portions have gotten much smaller and dishes are not prepared the same way as they are at other locations. We received drinks that were flat and had a slight taste of bleach. The $20 burrito especial I ordered was about 2/3 the size I have come to expect. My wife ordered the chicken corn chowder because she liked it when she tried it at the Lakewood location, but it was not even close to being the same. It was not creamy, as described, was watery, had other vegetables that are not stated on the ingredient list, and everything was chopped into gigantic pieces, instead of being finely chopped. It was missing the tortilla straps and had zero cilantro. My wife didn't want to say anything, but I did, so they asked if she wanted something else instead. She had the chicken tortilla soup previously, so she changed to that. When it came out, it also had huge chunks of vegetables, a few quarter sized pieces of chicken, not shredded, mostly vegetables that could not be eaten normally for a soup. We decided not to say anything about it, to avoid being labeled complainers, but ultimately my wife only ate about 1/8 of the soup before she was gave up out of disappointment. Then when we received the bill, we noticed a random surcharge with no explanation. I asked to speak with a manager about it, and they attempted to explain to me that it was "so we can make everything fresh", which is a complete fabrication. If you have to charge extra money just to do things the right way, you shouldn't be in business. Unfortunately they removed our favorite location in Buena Park several years ago, so I will say at this point, we will definitely not be back to this location until they get their stuff together.

We come to this location for brunch often, usually on Sundays. This was our first Saturday brunch. Julio, our server, was incredible--very understanding when my daughter didn't want anything from the Saturday brunch menu and kindly brought out a kids menu for her. The breakfast brunch is never disappointing. That said, the Saturday brunch does feel a bit more limited compared to their Sunday brunch offerings. The ambiance is always clean and welcoming!

How much is all you can eat Sunday brunch now? It doesn't show on the website.

The Sunday brunch is 36$ per adult and 12& per child I don't know why they won't say the price online

Do they have happy hour?

Yes 3:00 to 9:00 daily and on drinks and appetizers.

Today for Mother's day the brunch cost $31 per person. I just asked my husband. May 9,2021. How come it differs? Is it because of Mother's Day?

I called them today and they said the price for brunch is now $31 so they may have just increased prices.

Are they doing the Sunday brunch on Valentine's Day to?

Yes

Will you guys be staying open or closing due to restaurants closing in LA?

They are open for indoor and outdoor dining as of today Feb 15 2021

4 star rating is for their 3-Roll Taco…read more This place has always been reliable for their carne asada, California Burrito, chicken chimichangas, and 3-rolled tacos. I've been coming here since it was originally named Alberto's...The outside seating has not changed. It's still the same round table bench with the red umbrella. Service is the same, they're pretty quick at getting your food prepped. Now I said that their carne asada has always been reliable, but my last two times I've ordered a carne asada burrito (sour cream and cheese only) or a CA burrito, IYKYK, their meat has tasted different. It taste like it's some carne asada and then like some other mystery meat, sometimes liver... Either way I stop eating it when I have tasted it being weird. Maybe it's the other meats they serve that get mixed in. I don't dig that. So for that I would rate them down to a 3 star. I'm rating their 3 rolled tacos as 4 stars! It's the best around. It has the crunch and enough meat inside. It's not all tortilla like some places. We always order it with sour cream and cheese only, with carrots on the side. I've tried adeltacos down the street and it doesn't compare. Get it here.

(not from scratch) i honestly like all of it. but... this is a 2-star restaurant. i can't tell you all the things i've encountered here over the past decades. edit: recent reviews say one-star, and service is mentioned. yes, good point: no offense, but the service at this place IS exceptionally bad. it's so weird that they are still in business. so... idk. it's kind of a three star, but demotion for all the random inedible debris I've found in my food over the years and another demotion for the bad service and another demotion for how often the food is cold and how often the burrito is built without balance with cheese and cream on one side. etc. this place is not for the weak in that regard. this is not for people who need customizations to their order. i go because i'm used to it, but don't take your friends and family unless they'd ride a mechanical bull in a junkyard.... affectionately.

Best Tortas in the Cypress/West GG area, hands down!…read more I was feeling for some good Mexican, and I remembered the good Birria we had here some time back. This time I went a different direction though and picked up one of their Torta options - the Cubana. Fresh homemade bread with all of the fixings one would expect in a Cuban inspired Torta - quite large as well! The fam got Super Burritos, some with chicken and one with Al pastor. They had nothing but good to say - my son noting that it was really fresh tasting. The service was friendly and knowledgable, and they had our somewhat large order out in really good time. While you wait there's some arcade machines set to free play, a salsa bar with plenty of options, including roasted jalapeños. The place is clean with plenty of seating, and if I wasn't in a rush I'd have probably eaten there nust to get a few more rounds of Marvel v Capcom 2 in. ;)

They tack on extra charges not listed on the menu. Ordered 3 tacos and paid $19 something (handed him $20 and got some coin change). It was 2 carnitas tacos (listed for ~$4.40 each), plus an El Jefe taco (~$6.75). When he said $19 something it sounded high, I questioned it and he said that's what it is. I didn't want to argue further. I calculated it afterward and this was overpaying by $2 something. The amount is not a big deal, but I don't like being stolen from. So I'm writing this, so that others may avoid the same annoying experience. I was hoping the tacos would be really good and justifies it. But they weren't. The El Jefe one wasn't even as described. He said there would be cheese but there wasn't. The guac tasted old. And the whole plate was incredibly oily. The carnitas ones were less oily but not very flavorful either, and there were chunks of fat. Never again. Also the place was just gross. They used the same ladle for all the sauces, so it was all cross contaminated. The bathroom looked like a mess and had graffiti everywhere too.

Pretty worth visiting during happy hour! Service was very quick. There were also other few people ordering food besides drinks at the bar. Starting off with the tacos, the short rib was very nice! Very soft, tender, and flavorful. You can taste that they put amount of hours to preparing the meat for it. I just wished they added more condiments to the taco cause it was just cilantro and onion. I wish there was like salsa, radish, etc. It's kind of pricey compared to a street taco, but the quality of the meat was definitely higher. Also the mole tots, this was pretty good, although I wish there was more cheese. First few bites were pretty good, but the more you eat it, it does taste quite overwhelming from the black salsa. I wish there was also more toppings to it too. Overall, dining at the bar during happy hour was very chill! The bartender was also very nice and welcoming.
