This place is fiiireee. I've been looking for a good Dominica food spot and I found it! Rice was the right texture and flavors were on point. Pepper steak was tender and flavors on point. Veggies were garlic flavored and texture was great. Great service and great ambiance definitely will be back!

Casual dominican restaurant offering delicious typical dishes. Every time I visit Tampa, I try to pass by Tipico and pick up lunch. There are many Latin places in Tampa to pick up some food but I found this place to be one of the best ones in the area. The food is simply delicious! They cook with sazón for sure. Also, the restaurant is always clean and organized. The staff was friendly and bilingual. They offer daily specials and family meals. Some of my favorites are the mangu, majado de viandas, avocado salad, codfish salad, stew pork chops, baked chicken and rice with beans. Everything I tried so far is been delicious. Portions are good and prices are reasonable. They have so many delicious options to choose from that it is difficult to make a decision. One good combo to share with a group is combo #1 which includes fried cheese, fried chicken, longaniza sausage and tostones with a 2 litter Coke for about $20. It was good for 4 to 5 people. I had also ordered a few of the other family combos when I have my family over and it works out great. Everyone enjoys it every time. For dessert, I always get the coconut flan. It is just the right amount of sweetness to finish a perfect lunch at Tipico Criollo. This is absolutely a great casual place to pickup some real Latin food for you and the family.

So bomb!!! Mostly Spanish speaking of course but they do speak minimal English. They have very good choices for food!!!! They were very busy because it was lunch time. Very friendly staff!

In and out ordering, no wait ! HOT FRESH FOOD My good friends over at Tampa Barbers recommended El Tipico Criollo to me and I'm extremely glad they did ! AMAZING ! Thee most delicious Spanish cuisine I've ever had! Please come by and give them a try. First bite I knew this was gonna be my favorite place to dine at. I don't want to share with anybody; go get your own plate ! $14 could probably feed a family of 3 with their outstanding portions; however I will not share ever bc it's that good. I'm in love and the mango juice I order was freshly made in front of me . Wow I'm very impressed . I could keep rambling but it's time to dig in now :)

This place is so good! We recently found it. It's so sad we passed right by it for over two years!! The location is not the best, it's in a shopping center off Memorial on your way to Veterans Express. But the restaurant itself is very clean. It's cafeteria style hot food. Combination of Cuban, Dominican and Puerto Rican food. Always fresh and hot. This is my new favorites spot for a good home meal vs. fast food. Prices are good too.

Our first experience, we enjoyed the food and the value. As non Spanish speaking we were assisted in picking out our meal with patience.

Good food and great value. As non-Spanish speaking we we greeted and assisted patiently in picking out our meal. We will be back.

SERENDIPITY…read more Serendipity is defined as good luck in making unexpected and fortunate discoveries. This was certainly the case as a crack caused me toI have the windshield replaced. "There will be a two hour wait." said the technician." A friend who had accompanied me and I set out to find a coffee shop to grab coffee and a snack as it was noon. We spotted what appeared to be a restaurant within walking distance. The sign outside "Tropical Cuisine" did not prepare us for what awaited inside. The restaurant is located at 9005 E Adamo Dr, Tampa, Florida As we entered and the door closed behind us we were amazed at the size of the restaurant and we found ourselves on a food line that stretched the full length of the restaurant. As we sat sipping a coffee and enjoying a doughnut Federal Express, postal workers, police, contractors, business workers and families with children provided a steady flow of customers to the unending line. We both decided to jump on the food line. The trip through the line presented two problems. With so many culinary choices we were selecting more than we could eat. When we got to the table we both realized we had more food than was possible to consume. The quality and taste of the food explained the unending arrival of customers. My friend begins to load his Takeout Box which will provide two additional meals. We will be returning in the near future. What a great find.

I hate I don't have better things to say about this spot that we were really excited to try. I will…read moresay that upon arrival, everything seemed to be going fine. The owner greeted us at the door, it was fairly empty so there was no wait and we were seated right away. The ambiance is nice. It does look like you've stepped into the VIP area of a restaurant, so it was cute -- not fancy, but cute. The owner then told us about the restaurant being inspired by his mother, they've been around for 10 years, explained the menu etc., it was nice. He also told us that he hadn't been to Jamaica since a kid and that raised an eyebrow -- but we let it go because he wasn't the cook. MIND YOU, I brought my cousin here (who is Jamaican) after seeing decent reviews about it. He brought over our first round of drinks and they were really good. We really enjoyed them. They weren't strong at all, tasted like juice. So I would recommend just getting juice instead of the +$5 to add rum. As we began to order and look at the menu, the prices were really HIGH, but I guess he was going for upscale cuisine -- so we said OK, let's see what this entails. We all ordered the Taste of the Island plater that gave an oxtail, curry goat and jerk chicken, rice and peas, plaintains and a tiny side salad. I wasn't mad at the portions given, but the flavor didn't hit the mark at all. NOW LETS GET INTO THE FOOD The Jerk Chicken was OVERLY spicy; we couldn't even enjoy the flavor. The oxtails were fatty, sweet and BLACK. Not enjoyable at all. The goat was OK, but not very flavorful in my opinion. The beef patties were good, but probably out of a box. The Roti was good and the oxtail dipping sauce was good. The Honey BBQ Wings were pretty good and cooked well. The Mac'n'Cheese -- DO NOT GET THIS. It literally has NO taste and reminded me of the cup mac'n'cheese that you put the powder cheese in. It took so long to bring it out, I guess he kept forgetting about it (they said everything is made to order) -- which, IDK how you make mac'n'cheese to order. Real cooks know, Mac n cheese is NOT a 5-minute made to order meal. He also didn't ask how we enjoyed the meal -- which I felt like he knew what we knew when he saw that not only did the other table leave a plate full of food (the meats) but our plates resembled the same -- he still collected his coin. There is a 20% gratuity that is added on at the end that is ridiculous considering the prices are already so expensive -- MIND YOU, it is not "Elevate Cuisine", its basic Jamaican dishes on Ikea plates. No special plating, no unique sauces or display, no chef's plating or anything. Just a plate of food. Everyone's bill came in over $100. The table nearby us order the same thing and inquired whether or not we liked our food, but we'd just gotten our food and hadn't tried it yet -- we did warn them about the chicken being spicy, but not everything else. They came after us and left before us and left everything on the plate except the rice and peas. I love black owned businesses and I wish this much more success, but I would NOT recommend it to anyone that is looking for authentic Jamaican food.
