Very tasty and authentic Spanish food with a Dominican influence. Located on North Armenia, just past MLK in Tampa. The Mangu with pickled onions is perfect. The Palomilla steak & eggs very yummy. Café con leche was spot in good and served very hot. Many other traditional Spanish meals available - pernil, various rices, chicken and more. Very casual location. If I were a regular, I'd probably start bringing my own utensils instead of the small plastic utensils provided. They're functional...I'm just saying that if I were going here several times a week that I'd prefer to eat with larger utensils. Not a knock on the restaurant... just me being me...

Ethnic Cuisine # 65. Dominican Food. This cafe is interesting. Less than $10 you can have your meal. Better than fast food choices. It is off Armenia side street. It is local cafe restaurant. They don't open at night and close after lunch service. I was attracted by one of the picture post about the the Pernil pork shoulder. I said I got to try that. I got my lunch with that choice. They give me a good portion with their gravy. I also added the fried pork belly. The skin is crispy. My second dish was the king fish. I saw they have cold fish on display. They immediately offer me if I want a hot piece not the chill fish. They fried a big piece while I am waiting. All lunch come with rice and choice of side. I got the cucumber salad and the sweet plantain. Food is delicious after 30 minutes drove home and eat. The store clerk was friendly. I like to try their juice and coffee next time. They do have sandwiches on the menu. But I like the display food.

Authentic Spanish cuisine. This restaurant is a diner/cafe open until 3 pm. The food is fresh and delicious and the service is friendly. Prices are good. Once you try Mambos Cafe, you will become a frequent customer. Located near the corner of MLK and N. Armenia Avenue, Mambos is centrally located in Tampa. My pork and yellow rice was juicy so tasty. The avocado salad is delightful. The cafe con leche did the trick! ¡Me alegro de haber descubierto Mambos Cafe!

    Menu

Mambos Menu-Great food and good price for everything. I personally love the Mambo omelette with home fries and toast.

$2 coffee. Bigger than it looks.

Yummy Spanish food. Cafe con leche was on point. If I can't go to Puerto Rico, mambo's is a great place to find the taste of the island.

As I walk I'm there are two ladies behind the counter arguing with each other ( which never stopped the entire time I was there) I scan the counter and there's no food!!! NO FOOD it's 6:45 and all i saw was grits, potatoes and a woman brought out poached eggs. So I'm immediately disappointed. To make a short story long, I ordered grits and potatoes and she threw in a sausage patty (which ended up being the worst sausage I've ever eaten i literally spit it out.) This woman tried to charge me $9.66 are you crazy!?? I couldn't believe it No bacon No scrambled eggs No toast And you think this is a $10? Naw champ This is my first and my last time coming here. I asked about eggs and I was told 10mins. Come on this is a breakfast joint that opened at 6:30 you know folks are heading to work and can't stay and sit for someone to whip up some eggs. I'm sorry I have zero tolerance for this and I'm upset at my two friends who sent me here to ruin my Friday

I hate I don't have better things to say about this spot that we were really excited to try. I will…read moresay that upon arrival, everything seemed to be going fine. The owner greeted us at the door, it was fairly empty so there was no wait and we were seated right away. The ambiance is nice. It does look like you've stepped into the VIP area of a restaurant, so it was cute -- not fancy, but cute. The owner then told us about the restaurant being inspired by his mother, they've been around for 10 years, explained the menu etc., it was nice. He also told us that he hadn't been to Jamaica since a kid and that raised an eyebrow -- but we let it go because he wasn't the cook. MIND YOU, I brought my cousin here (who is Jamaican) after seeing decent reviews about it. He brought over our first round of drinks and they were really good. We really enjoyed them. They weren't strong at all, tasted like juice. So I would recommend just getting juice instead of the +$5 to add rum. As we began to order and look at the menu, the prices were really HIGH, but I guess he was going for upscale cuisine -- so we said OK, let's see what this entails. We all ordered the Taste of the Island plater that gave an oxtail, curry goat and jerk chicken, rice and peas, plaintains and a tiny side salad. I wasn't mad at the portions given, but the flavor didn't hit the mark at all. NOW LETS GET INTO THE FOOD The Jerk Chicken was OVERLY spicy; we couldn't even enjoy the flavor. The oxtails were fatty, sweet and BLACK. Not enjoyable at all. The goat was OK, but not very flavorful in my opinion. The beef patties were good, but probably out of a box. The Roti was good and the oxtail dipping sauce was good. The Honey BBQ Wings were pretty good and cooked well. The Mac'n'Cheese -- DO NOT GET THIS. It literally has NO taste and reminded me of the cup mac'n'cheese that you put the powder cheese in. It took so long to bring it out, I guess he kept forgetting about it (they said everything is made to order) -- which, IDK how you make mac'n'cheese to order. Real cooks know, Mac n cheese is NOT a 5-minute made to order meal. He also didn't ask how we enjoyed the meal -- which I felt like he knew what we knew when he saw that not only did the other table leave a plate full of food (the meats) but our plates resembled the same -- he still collected his coin. There is a 20% gratuity that is added on at the end that is ridiculous considering the prices are already so expensive -- MIND YOU, it is not "Elevate Cuisine", its basic Jamaican dishes on Ikea plates. No special plating, no unique sauces or display, no chef's plating or anything. Just a plate of food. Everyone's bill came in over $100. The table nearby us order the same thing and inquired whether or not we liked our food, but we'd just gotten our food and hadn't tried it yet -- we did warn them about the chicken being spicy, but not everything else. They came after us and left before us and left everything on the plate except the rice and peas. I love black owned businesses and I wish this much more success, but I would NOT recommend it to anyone that is looking for authentic Jamaican food.
