Very tasty and authentic Spanish food with a Dominican influence. Located on North Armenia, just past MLK in Tampa. The Mangu with pickled onions is perfect. The Palomilla steak & eggs very yummy. Café con leche was spot in good and served very hot. Many other traditional Spanish meals available - pernil, various rices, chicken and more. Very casual location. If I were a regular, I'd probably start bringing my own utensils instead of the small plastic utensils provided. Ethnic Cuisine # 65. Dominican Food. This cafe is interesting. Less than $10 you can have your meal. Better than fast food choices. It is off Armenia side street. It is local cafe restaurant. They don't open at night and close after lunch service. I was attracted by one of the picture post about the the Pernil pork shoulder. I said I got to try that. I got my lunch with that choice. They give me a good portion with their gravy. I also added the fried pork belly. The skin is crispy. My second dish was the king fish. I saw they have cold fish on display. They immediately offer me if I want a hot piece not the chill fish. They fried a big piece while I am waiting. All lunch come with rice and choice of side. I got the cucumber salad and the sweet plantain. Food is delicious after 30 minutes drove home and eat. The store clerk was friendly. I like to try their juice and coffee next time. They do have sandwiches on the menu. But I like the display food. read more

Good little Caribbean cafeteria. I was curious to try Dominican food. There were some classic Dominican dishes here, like chicharrones and mafongo, but I'd say the food was more pan-Caribbean. Roast pork, beef stew, Cuban sandwiches, etc. I had the roast pork. There's an onion oil (sofrito?) that you can ask them to put on top. It came with two sides. The server already scooped yellow rice, so I went with that, and then I asked for black beans. I also asked for a few pieces of chicharrones for the drive home. ;) This huge amount of calories was $10 with tax, which was impressive, since I had enough leftover for lunch the next day. The food was fine, although somehow in the 20 minute drive home, the rice and beans were cold, despite being packaged in styrofoam (must not have been hot on the line). The beans were well seasoned and were warm when I got home. The chicharrones were not warm either. They were perfectly cooked, crunchy but not dry, but a little underseasoned. They require masks to enter, and while there is the option to dine in, they have reduced the total number of tables. read more

My family frequents here about 1-2 a week. Lately the owner guy has been rude. My husband said this would be our last time coming back when the owner made a big deal about us asking for a piece of bread with our meal. Told my husband "she doesn't eat it" If I'm paying for it, what does it matter what I do with it? (It cost $2.50 for a whole loaf) Today my husband went back on his word and tried mambos again, this time ordering a Cuban sandwich Togo, he got it wrapped in a paper bag, normally they give us plastic bags Togo. He got out of the front door and his sandwich fell threw the bag on to the sidewalk. My husband asked if the sandwich could be remade but in a plastic bag. The woman stated to make it but the owner said he needed us to pay for it. I get it, it wasn't his fault the sandwich fell. But it is up to him to make the customer happy. No discount was offered, nothing. Customer service is everything when you run a business. read more

This place reminds me a lot of the restaurants in NYC where you get a whole meal just for $7! Everything here is delish, now I could only recommend this place if you are ordering for pick up. If you are dining in here, it didnt seem like a place you would want to sit and eat, as every server here is attending mostly the people coming in and out for pick up. This is a great restaurant. You can see the food you are ordering since they have it in hot serving trays behind glass. All you need to do is point and say "I'll have that, and that, and that, and that." You get the idea. I had a Cuban sandwich, rice with pigeon peas and 2 ham croquettes. I also had cafe con leche and black beans and rice on a previous visit. Everything was great. The Cuban was one of the best I've had. It tastes like they carved the meat right then. It was very juicy and the pork had a nice seasoned flavor. The rice both times was flavorful, with the peas and with the black beans. Authentic flavor. I liked the cafe con leche. It was strong and had a nice foamy taste with the milk added. The croquettes were really good. They fried them up for the order. The breading was tasty but the minced up ham inside was extra tasty. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. I'll be back once a month when I see my doctor nearby. It will be a regular spot for me. The food is excellent. read more

Witnessed the manager of the store being rude to one of their customers. He basically blamed her for the credit card machine not working when it clearly stated that the machine was offline. He was rushing her to order/threw an attitude when she literally just got there. Walked right out when I saw this. This is not good customer service..... at all.
