Food portions are huge here- they are tasty and served quickly. You walk in and order at the counter and then sit down to eat. What you get here is good food at good prices- nothing fancy, but that sometimes makes for a good meal. We weren't fans of the flan- the sugar was a little bitter (burnt), but that is the only small nitpick. read more

Very good Cuban sandwich and we got the Cuban rice and beans along with a side of red beans. Had more than enough to take home half of a sandwich each. The dining room is clean and very comfortable. The service is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable. read more

One of the best if not the best Cubans I have had here in Florida. Made fresh right in front of you. If you do not want a Cuban, there are many other Cuban delicacies waiting for you. Fresh pork dishes, fresh, chicken, dishes, empanadas, and many great side dishes You have to try the stuffed potato. There is also a small selection of beers to be had. I have been craving some good mojo roast pork, yellow rice, black beans, and platanos maduros. I also wanted to try someplace new since I have not been yelping much. So went to Mandy's. Tried to check in... but the app was not cooperating. Oh well! The gent that took my order was very friendly, and the portions are huge.... I ate what I could and took the rest home. Probably another two meals worth, wow! The roast pork is really good, very tender and has the wonderful flavor that mojo criollo imparts. The rice and beans were good, and lot of them! Th e plantains were perfect, tender and nicely sweet. I had asked for some chicharron (crispy pig skin) with my meal and they gave me a very generous portion as can be seen in the picture I took. Never heard of this place until today. We were visiting the Russian Deli and needed a place to grab lunch. Decided to stop in to see what they had. It's Hispanic food and you could smell the goodness upon walking inside. Immediately greeted and we were the only customers at that time. Decided to get the picadillo which came with 2 sides and was soo much food. The picadillo was cooking fresh on the stove when we chose it. Mmmm goodness. Nice and fresh. My friend and I decided to just share since the amount of food was so much. Decided on green beans and rice for the sides. Got back to the office and split it up. Wow was this good!! Soo full of flavor. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. The food was so good and the lunch was under $10 which was cheap for the amount of food and the freshness. We were in the Tampa area on business and found this adorable place close. BOY were we happy to find this. First- the food was AMAZING! Great selection of hot foods, sandwiches, and pastries all fresh, yummy with good-sized portions. The owner not only made recommendations and served us, he came around to chat and we felt as if we'd been customers for years. The price was spot on and we even took a meal to go. And if all this wasn't enough, we were treated to the most perfect spot of cuban coffee which is so hard to find and set the meal off perfectly. Thank you, Mandy's, for making our day. Mandy probably the most competitive in price for the restaurant on their shopping plaza. Food not the top notch but decent for the price you have paid. The take out I have has big portions to be able to share. It Latin cuisine with Cuban background was great for the patrons. We have the roast pork for to go. My wife saw the pork skin and ask if we could have some, it was added bonus when they give us the big piece. If the roast pig skin saw by Philippine residents, it will be gone first. Although I am not Philippine, but I like it because they crispy and nice. My dish come with rice. The rice may need a bit work to completely cook. We also has plantain which is sweet and tasty. Overall the food is good. Who can complaint about the affordable price. We have to come back to try other items they have serve. read more

We have been going to Mandy's for many years. Catering is amazing and prices are good. The roast pork is incredible and the portions are generous. We even catered my daughters wedding from there. Mandy's has some tasty and very affordable Cuban food. Most things are a la carte so you can get your food quickly, but sandwhiches and steak are made to order. The veggie sandwich is my favorite item and it seems like they get fresh bread daily which is important! Service is also super friendly. I've lived here a year and always drove right past it. Today I finally made the effort and went here. I was pleasantly surprised with the food and service. The food ordering process was like a cafe line. Red tray and all. I had the roasted pork lunch special with rice and plantains. $6.95. Everything taste good. Wow. Wow. Wow. My mother was a missionary to Cuba 60 years ago before Fidel took over. She came to visit and said all I want is authentic Cuban food. On simply a whim and stressed about traffic we turned in here. Honest the outside gives you the expectation of just another strip mall disappointment. The food is absolutely amazing like triple d worthy the owner and workers were so so so friendly. Everyone should stop here for sure you will go back again and again. By far my favorite spot when I want a decent priced, quick lunch in tampa and I am craving good Latin food (which is basically all the time). Mandy's is a nice family owned business that has great food. Everything there is incredible. The Cuban pork is cooked exactly as you would expected. The pork is perfectly seasoned and juicy. The rice and beans are amazing. The other meat selections will never let you down either. The picadillo and the roast chicken are also notable dishes they make. The cooked Yuka is to die for. Another great perk of Mandy's is that you can get an authentic Latin lunch with an ice cold beer (who says no to that?). Make sure to ask for their Cuban break on the side of your meal, it's free and delicious. The owners are very nice people that go above and beyond to make sure your meal is great. read more

Only reason I gave Mandy's a four-star and out of five is because I wish they stayed open a little bit later. I have been eating at this place for years and have never had a problem. The food is fresh, the owner is always nice and sometimes will give you extra, and their drink selection is great. As a courtesy to the owner, try to pay cash if you can because we were talking and he told me he has really high transaction fees. Other than that you can stay and dine in or you can take the meals home with you. If you choose to done in, just know that the inside is a little bit dated but there are TVs available for your entertainment. Pricing is spot-on; not too expensive and definitely not cheap. read more

Don't take my word for it--check the pictures. That's why I always include them. The soup? It reminded me of Lipton soup. No knock if you like that, but this was basically Lipton soup with grease. As for the coffee, it was takeout coffee, so I can't even complain too much. I got it to wake me up, but honestly... after this meal, I should have just stayed sleeping. Even though slightly crumbly, still yummy! I also bought butter cookies, sold by the pound. Those are relatively ordinary; I'll skip those in the future. Next time, we are carrying Cuban sandwiches home! I really wish I carried them home. I was having Cuban sandwich withdrawal. This location is older but functional; there isn't seating. Their customers know what they want, and everything moves FAST. If it's your visit (like it was for us), I suggest looking at the menu online to know what to order. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week if you aren't looking to leave the hotel property in downtown Tampa for a day or night. The dirty martinis are ok but I felt they could be dirtier, especially since I asked for extra -- for some reason, bartenders in more than one establishment tend to still be sparingly with the olive brine. But the service was attentive regardless.

The food remains solid. We enjoyed the mahi mahi, the thin steak, and the Cuban sandwich. Plus, we also once again ordered the mojito pitcher. It's made table side -- though this time they did not add the rum in front of us. It always made us laugh when they poured a bottle of rum into the pitcher. Suggest valet for $6 or a couple of trips around the lot to find a spot. We sat outside, which was enclosed and heated and your are right on the water. Super cool and great views. We started off with the toasted bread and butter and the devil crab croquet. Not a fan - full of crab but the flavors didn't sit well and really needed some type of sauce to pair with it - we only had hot sauce. The original salad - is a must we shared it across four. It's made table side has cheese and olives in it and was really good. We got ours with a side of shrimp. Main courses - Cuban - it's a classic sandwhich which we shared. Comes with fried plantains which were ok. Again would have been better with some kind of sauce to dip it in. Steak Salteado - good flavor l, was expecting thin sliced steak and it was more like stew meat. Paired with rice and was good. Palomilla - would be better as the sandwhich version. Again this one needed a sauce for dipping. Shrimp "Al Ajillo" - this is a must and the oil garlic mix is perfect for dipping you toasted bread.

I ordered the vaca frita with yellow rice and added sweet plantains. The steak was incredibly tender and full of flavor, and the rice paired perfectly with it. The sweet plantains were spot on, and I honestly devoured the entire meal. It was so good that I took my boss back for lunch in person. He ordered the classic Cubano sandwich, and it was done right -- the ham and pork were perfectly balanced, the bread was fresh, and it was grilled just right. We also shared the sampler platter, which was a great way to try a variety of their tapas and appetizers. Everything we tried was solid. I also ordered a guanábana shake, which was fresh and absolutely delicious -- a flavor I had never had before. I liked it so much that I ordered it two days in a row. If you're looking for authentic Cuban food in Tampa, I definitely recommend Havana 86. The prices were very reasonable for the area, the food was consistently great, and it's already become a new favorite of mine. I'll absolutely be back next time I'm in town.

I was in the mood for a sandwich. But I wasn't in the mood for a Cuban... Oddly enough, I've never really been a big Cuban sandwich fan. Good thing I went with my wife and sister-in-law. Sister-in-law ordered the Ropa. Wife ordered the Cuban sandwich. I got the Lechon sandwich. The pictures speak for themselves. Large sandwiches come with delicious fries. You could definitely share the sandwich if you wanted to. The Ropa Vieja looked like a pretty small portion... It was bigger in reality. Not huge... Not La Teresita huge. The sandwiches are well priced... The Ropa was a little expensive. Service was great. Very kind staff. Tons of servers... Probably too many -- It's not that big of a restaurant. Restaurant is super cute, clean, and the tables are awesome -- Tons of those rounded booth tables. Very comfortable. Probably my only downside... I wouldn't expect the inside of the restaurant based on the outside. If this wasn't a recommendation from my sister-in-law... I would have driven right by. So, maybe you'll see this review and give this restaurant a chance. I would've never gone there if it wasn't for word-of-mouth.
