Clean environment, welcoming service, and most importantly great coffee. Ordered a half decaf cappuccino for 4.25, where as at other coffee shops I go to in the bay are at 6 dollars and charge extra for a decaf shot! This place has great tasting coffee, a unique twist in their steamed milk, and great price. 10/10

Nice little cafe for a quick stop. Nice light menu for breakfast. The staff inside were pleasant and helpful. It is a bit hard to find as it is tucked in between other shops or stores but they do have a small sign outside pointing the way. Think coffees, avocado toasts, bagels and small breakfast burritos.

Such a calming little cafe! Stopped in for a morning, coffee and it did not disappoint! Smooth, and not too sweet. Also, it was the best temp for sipping and it stayed warm the entire time. We came here from Yelp. It seemed like the place to be. It was OK. Nothing special. Maybe I should have read deeper into the reviews as to what they offered. The menu is limited for sure. They only serve turkey or ham, no other breakfast meats. That was a disappointment for us all. Just a heads up-- the menu doesn't necessarily describe the up charges for other breads, but there is one even though it says choose a bread. The best part? The food came out really quick. We were in and out. Thank you for that! They outsource all bakery goods and bagels from another bakery. The avocado toast left a bit to be desired. The bread tasted a bit like bananas and we weren't sure why. The cheese on the avocado toast was taking over the minimal avocado on the bread.

This place is great! The neighborhood has many cafes nearby but this is the only location that sells la conchas (Mexican sweet bread). It would be a great place to stop especially if you are waiting for your laundry to finish next door. The turkey sandwich is a little spicy but I like it. They also sell a Tiny Burrito which is a few bites long ^_^ read more

Our new favorite South Berkeley cafe! Stopped by with the kids to check it out, and sooo excited they serve Starter Bakery pastries - our favorite. We also got the lox with everything bagel. Even though it's a one-woman run cafe, everything was pretty quick, warm and served with a smile. Ended up eating in the car, so maybe she can put out a table or two on the sidewalk in the future. We also meant to pick up a bag of coffee beans for our work-from-home situation, but totally forgot. Will also be back to try the sandwiches for lunch! read more

First off , the service was amazing! Very efficient and professional. I ordered the morning sandwich that consisted of Turkey (or option of ham) tomato, onion , cheese , on a croissant or bagel. Their tiny burritos are a nice treat but I think their bagels are the best thing they sell. I've tried recreating them at home but they never taste as good but hey, they're definitely worth paying for. I also love their lattes, particularly their iced ones on sunny days. AFFORDABLE & DELICIOUS WITH GREAT AMBIENCE -- The breakfast sandwich/bagel/burrito offerings are undoubtedly the most economical and delicious in the city. The people here are wonderful and charming, and the coffee (from Chiapas!!) is the best. I cannot believe my good fortune in living right across the street. I rarely try specialty lattes but during the holidays I couldn't live without their eggnog lattes, and I am not sure what I'll do in the New Year. We moved to North Oakland from near Lake Merritt and I've been searching for a neighborhood cafe nearby for months. El Tiny Cafe has become one of my go to spots for mornings when I really want a great cappuccino and delicious breakfast. I love their chorizo burrito and their salsa! We love going to El Tiny to treat ourselves to darn good breakfast foods for the price. The avocado toast is great, and the tiny breakfast burritos are just the right size for me and come with this perfect homemade salsa that really makes them everything you want on a cold morning. The coffee is a little bitter for me but solid and the fun lattes like marzipan or horchata are worth a try. Most of all, the owners are lovely people who seem to really care about their customers and take pride in what they do. I'm pretty sure I saw one owner communicating with a customer in ASL, which was great. They're always kind and pleasant and a joy to be around. I don't want to share this place with everyone but also want everyone to come here because El Tiny rocks. read more

I've been here 3 times so far. The food feels like it's made with love! The drinks are pretty good. Note on the food: it's not grain-free or low fodmap. The place feels like a lot of care and effort has gone into it to make it warm and welcoming. It's colorful and has a nice ambiance. read more

Welcome to the neighborhood El Tiny Cafe! Went in today for the 1st time- they are so nice! And quick too. We ordered an iced chai latte, a hot chocolate, an almond milk latte, a bagel with cream cheese and an El Classico turkey sandwich. Everything was delicious. My only complaint- the sandwich was a little pricey at 11.25. But! The soft bolillo it came on was perfect, and, it came with a side salad with yummy cilantro-y dressing. Plus, I don't mind paying more if it means a small business gets to survive and serve their community, so fingers crossed that this little gem will make it! read more

Brava to Lili, owner/manager/cook/server! She really knows how to make, yes, a tiny cafe deliver a big wallop: from eco-friendly take-out cups, containers (even straws!) to perfect expresso drinks (my fussy semi-dry cappuccino isn't easy) and fab sandwiches,* Lili gets it right. *the hot aioli dressing is great! A really nice cafe is SO welcome in this somewhat off-putting strip. (Pls don't jump on me: groups of unmasked people (mostly men) just hanging out and casting commentary to passing women, in groups on either side of block is, to me, off-putting.) They have plenty of seating, and one of the biggest advantages is their excellent Wi-Fi speed, which makes it a reliable spot for remote work or studying. The atmosphere is enjoyable as well. There's usually music playing or a sports game on the TV, creating a comfortable, laid-back environment without being distracting. Their food selection is also better than you'd expect from a coffee shop. In addition to coffee and pastries, they offer cakes, breakfast items, and a variety of other snacks and treats, so there's always something to pair with your drink. Their hours are convenient, making it easy to stop by throughout the day. The only area where I think there's room for improvement is cleanliness. I've noticed on several occasions that when I arrive shortly after opening--sometimes within 30 minutes to an hour--there are still crumbs on the chairs, tables, and floor, even when there haven't been many customers yet. First impressions matter, and the café should be fully cleaned and ready for guests before the doors open. Customers shouldn't have to wipe down their own tables before sitting. Overall, I really enjoy coming here and would absolutely recommend it for the atmosphere, Wi-Fi, seating, and food options. With a little more attention to cleanliness before opening each day, it would be an even better experience.

There was also plenty of street parking in the neighborhood.

This is a fairly spacious cafe with an industrial/warehouse, minimalist look. During my afternoon visit, it was busy inside and out on the covered patio. Lots of people on their laptops. Artis roasts their own coffee. Service was fine. I got a side eye from the cashier/barista when I asked where the water station was (it was my first time and I was unfamiliar with this place), but they were nice and polite otherwise. The water pressure at the self-serve faucet was too strong and sprayed water everywhere. Good for a coffee fix if you're in the area.

The drinks were smooth, rich, and beautifully crafted, you can really taste the care that goes into every cup. This review, however, is about their bagels specifically, which clock in at 3 stars. The bagels feel as if someone read a description of a New York bagel and did their best to recreate it without being totally sure they'd hit the mark. Crisp crust? Dense crumb? Malty flavor? The bagel ticks all the boxes. Yet, each aspect is slightly off. The crust was almost comically thick and took a serious bite to break through. (I guess the bakers got too enthusiastic with the water bath.) The crumb was tight but came off more as dry than chewy. And the malt syrup was poured with a liberal hand -- there is no subtlety to the flavor. To their credit, the cream cheese is well paired. It brings its own flavor with a noticeable tang, and it is dense. You need a bagel that will hold up under the pressure of a knife while spreading the thick schmear. I love that Saul's is making bagels in house now, but I think I will look elsewhere on their menu for the real comfort foods.

It took well over what felt like 20-30 minutes from our 1st order to our 2nd Chef's Choice dish. That negatively impacted our experience, but it happens. I'd like to try Ippuku again and hope there will be less of a delay. Our server was nice & attentive, came around a few times to refill our water.

They were really patience with what we were thinking of ordering and gave us recommendations. The order came by really quick and we only had to wait about 10 minutes. This is a perfect spot to start of your day and to start your mood for the day. I ordered a Carmelo latte and a cheese and ham sandwich. It tasted so good and brightened my spirit a lot. The sandwich tasted so good it was perfectly balanced with cheese and ham. I saw the faces of my peers and it looked like they really enjoyed El Tiny Cafes amazing food. I can tell that the food brightened their spirit and gave them more energy for the day. Their was beautiful decorations and murals on the wall. I can tell that this would be a perfect place to let go from everything that your dealing with and have a perfectly relaxed morning at the cafe.
