Always excellent food and service. Very reasonable prices for the generous portions they serve.

Pretty good! Service was very friendly, restrooms were spotless, and everything we ordered exceeded expectations. We liked the slightly spicy melted cheese on the chimichangas and the guacamole was fresh and flavorful. Nice pit stop on our road trip. read more

We have been there 3 times in the last week. The service is great, the workers seem to know their flow already. The margaritas were awesome. Love how they put your fresh homemade sales in a little decanter. The food. Amazing. Full of authentic flavor. Have tried the fajita, the tacos and this rock bowl full of beef, pork, shrimp and chicken: Moljateceh(sp?),so good. Get here before the secret gets out and the wait begins. read more

Everytime I come here I have had a great experience. A warm greeting at the door, service with a smile, always extremely prompt and polite. The food and drinks are amazing, and the prices are affordable for a typical night out. I always enjoy going here. Furthermore, there is ample seating so even on a Friday/Saturday night we have never experienced a wait. read more

Fast, Friendly and good food, Advice: READ THE MENU and have the waiter / waitress read it back to you and fully understand what you are ordering. Last time we were over charged and received the wrong order it was corrected FAST when we tracked down the waiter. I had given 5 starts but i'm dropping them down one star till we go back again. read more

Pulled this restaurant up on our drive home from a brewer game. Atmosphere, waitstaff and food were excellent. Special ordered for the kids and they were so flexible with the requests. Highly recommend! read more

My husband's dish was good (something with meat of course), but I ordered veggie fajitas that seemed to have been well out of the cook's grasp, because it looked as though a pile of frozen vegetables was steamed with a few cauliflower chunks (?!?!) added for freshness, then piled in a heap on a plate. I was so startled I couldn't respond quickly enough to have it re-done; but then I hesitated because if someone gets offended in the kitchen who knows what they might send back. Just be aware to ask that the veggies get properly sautéed, which I hadn't thought I'd have to have to explain to a Mexican cook. read more

Just driving through town and stumbled Upon This Place. Love it! The salsa is fresh and the service was pretty fantastic! It's a repurposed building so it is not terribly authentic looking but they've done great work with the interior decorating. The food came out fast and hot! Definitely recommend for a nice, inexpensive, delicious lunch or dinner! read more

Muy delicioso!! Had the lunch special. Great food. Ample quantity. Tasted refreshingly fresh. Friendly and fast service. Festive atmosphere. Look forward to returning at margarita time. read more

Yummy food and margarita specials! We have been a couple of times and the food is always delicious

What a great restaurant. Multiple options made it tough to pick what I wanted. And seriously, 2.99 margaritas? Amazing

When i work out of town el tequila is a must have for dinner. I always get the fajitas mix and match. Huge amounts of meat and veggies for a GREAT price! The service is always on point. Only thing I'm not a fan of is their mozzarella sticks but that certainly doesn't take away from this restaurant. read more

We came here with a gift certificate that they said was expired and refused to honor, even though we had just gotten the gift certificate 4 months prior to it expiring. Not sure what kind of racket these guys are pulling, but it's rotten to see such shady business out of a small place like this. Our food was fast to arrive at least? But I'm not sure how fresh it was... How can you have orders for a table of 9 ready in less than 5min? Lots of sketchiness occurring if you ask me. read more

We finally made it to this restaurant. The staff was super friendly. Chips and salsa were fresh. I could have used a bit of salt on the chips. We ordered the chimichanga special, which came lightening fast. The rice and beans were great, which I feel like never happens at the same time. The chimichanga was okay. It was soggy and salty. But since this was our first time here, we will go back and try some other menu items, especially since the sides were so good. I will update if I find a better main. read more

Attended a lovely and small wedding reception here. It was perfect for our group and what the bride and groom were looking for. Muchas gracias a José y todos los empleados! read more

The staff was very nice and friendly, and the restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. The food however was awful. It took approximately 4 minutes from the time we ordered to the food getting to our table, definitely not fresh. You could tell it had been microwaved. The tortillas in my enchiladas were soggy and sitting in liquid. I ordered the fried ice cream, thinking surely that would be fresh...the coating was cold, soggy/chewycorn flakes. Definitely nothing fried in that fried ice cream, at least not the same day. Will definitely not be returning. read more

The food is great! The margaritas are super! The service is awesome! The place is clean and decorated wonderfully-very Mexican festive! I've eaten here a few times now when visiting Manitowoc and have always been impressed! I'll be back for sure! read more

The food was mostly on the good side. We paid the bill with a gift certificate for $25. They came back and said it was expired. It did have an expiration date of 6 months from date it was bought. I though that was kind of lame. We talked to management and I asked them if the issuer would get their money back. Otherwise who gets it? They argued until I gave in and told them to put in on my charge card. I had already paid cash for the balance of the gift card. Now mind you, the gift card was for $25. When I got my card back with the receipt, they tried to charge me $30. If I wasn't paying attention they would have got me for and extra $5. I will never get a gift certificate from this place, nor will I ever go back to eat there. I didn't think certificates ever expire. read more

Beside the fact that the masculine article "el" doesn't match the feminine noun "tequila", we decided to give the new place a try. I'm curious who makes all the colorful carved and painted chairs, booths, and tables that decorate many new Mexican restaurants. These features add a nice touch to these places. Our waiter was very patient when it took us a bit to peruse the extensive menu. There are good choices for vegetarians here. We were served chips and salsa. The chips were freshly made, crisp and tasty. The salsa was mild for our tastes; but very good. Iced tea was unusually refreshing and unlimited. We ordered nachos and they were decent. I had a vegetarian combo plate with a burrito, an enchilada and a quesadilla. My wife had enchiladas. Everything was pretty good. For a new restaurant the place was pretty crowded; and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. The waitstaff was all male; they were attentive and accommodating. One hiccup though, my wife was served five minutes before I was. No problem for me as I am not that special to myself to be somehow offended by this. There are whiners on TripAdvisor and Yelp who would throw a fit if this happened to them. All in all this is a good addition to Manitowoc. read more

My favorite place to go...LOVE Everything I've tried! The owners recognize us and always take the time to stop and ask how our food was. Restaurant is clean and food is great! Reasonably priced! read more

Called prior to going on August 21st, 2018 to ask if they had their Taco Special going on that day. Got there, and we were promptly served water. When inquiring of the specials, we were told the Taco Special was not available on that date. A wasted trip as well as visit. Needless to say, we went down the street to a more frequented restaurant, were promptly served, and their phone information regarding specials was correct. This was our second visit to El Tequila and twice misinformed. Misleading, a waste of time and disappointing. Will not be back. read more

So right up front, my friend and I are from Texas, The Land of Abundant Mexican Food, so we came to El Tequila to evaluate Midwest Mexican food. We arrived on a Sunday after church and the restaurant was pleasantly busy. We were seated right away and given free chips and mild, tasty salsa. Our server was very friendly and helpful when we asked for recommendations. First off: Frozen lime margaritas - smooth and robust. On a scale of 1 to 5 we rated them a solid 5. We ordered cheese dip (chile con queso in Tex Mex) and it was EXCELLENT. No veggies, just a creamy, smooth accompaniment to the thick crispy chips. We had to hold off so we could save room for the actual meal. Yum! We opted for mixed fajitas with shrimp, steak, chicken and chorizo. Let me tell you, if you like to spice it up as we do, the chorizo makes this dish a WINNER . We also love onions, and the waiter had no problem supplying us with an extra plate of the sweet, grilled cebollas. The meal was served with tortillas (not home made) and refried beans, guacamole, rice and pico de gallo / salad. While the guacamole was good, the rest was left on the plate. For dessert we ordered Sopaipillas and flan. The sopaipillas were a Dora the Explorer sugary mess, not puffy and served with candy sprinkles, whipped cream and several syrups. The entire dinner with drinks, appetizer and desserts was $46 plus tip. That's not bad. We took home the flan so assume it was amazing unless I tell you different. Overall: We love this new addition to Manitowoc and will tell friends and family to definitely check it out. Salud! Disclosure: I believe I'm tipsy on one 22 oz margarita. Bring along a designated driver! read more

Seriously ok. Everything seems to be pre-packaged. The need on the carne asada burrito was super dry and no flavor, this is not true carne asada. The chops were ok and the salsa was good. Other than that skip it. Weak margaritas. read more

Went there on Mother's Day, a Sunday. Every Sunday chicken fajitas are on special for a very affordable price! Also, being Mother's Day, there was a 10% discount for everyone all day. Finally, as they brought the checks, they also brought a fresh red rose for every female in the party. We were very impressed! In addition to that, service was very polite, professional, and responsive to our requests. the food was delicious and plentiful. The atmosphere was light and airy, not cramped, and the background music was nice. We loved it! Even my brother, who doesn't particularly care for Mexican food, was impressed and very inclined to come back. Check it out! read more

Not a very good experience. Not very good service and was disappointed with the food. The chips are not a very good flavor. The salsa is very well blended so that it's thin and i like more chunky salsa. The queso dip was really thin too. I had a carne asada burrito and it was not good. Was literally just overly salted very chewy beef inside of a toasted shell. The beans and rice were good. Very strong margaritas! Would not come back read more

We enjoyed it here. Rather busy and hurried place for this dinky town. Liked everything and the service was great. Very mild to bland, so more tamed down versions of the faire they offer. Still a good bet for food and drink, especially for this town. read more

Good service and good food. Excellent margarita (regular on the rocks). Nice and clean, too.

this restaurant was literally the worst. me and my bf wanted a bit to eat and we were both craving Mexican food so we decided to stop at el tequila. we both ordered enchiladas supreme. the food was gross, it came out looking horrible and weird. me and my bf have both grow up in Mexican households and know what an enchilada looks like and it was not that. the food was bad but the service was worse. First of all the waiter started hitting on me in front of my bf right at the table, which was supper uncomfortable and unprofessional. he then was sighing at the table when we were deciding what to eat right in front of us. he kept giving us attitude and told us we needed to pay right away and that we should leave for no reason. as we walked out a bunch of the employees started laughing and pointing at us. it was so horrible. i work as a server and just worked that whole day and i would never ever treat a customer like that no matter the circumstances. read more

Horrible.. tonight.. if you go into this place and they are busy then run the hell out the door .. our service was non existent..

Terrible food. Everything was so soggy. Had a sampler platter of quite a few different items, and each one was worse than the other. No flavor. My fiance got a burrito that had steak, which was also inedible. The steak was all gristle and so over cooked, the burrito was topped with a nasty tomato sauce, like ragu. We will never be back. read more
