The service was great. The place always looks good. The food looked great but it was SO bland. No seasonings whatsoever. I mean none. We had 3 adult meals at noontime. Ordered various Fajita meals...1 child accompanied us who shared our meals. We took most of the meal home and added cumin and taco seasoning and it was then fine. I frequent their truck that is at 2902 Calumet Ave, Manitowoc, WI 54220. This is going to be their more authentic food. No fajitas. The service is great. As far as ambiance it's food truck eat were you want. I have gotten the tacos al pastor, carne asada, buche, and cabeza. I asked for cebollas asada on the side which is normally for large orders, but they hooked me up. Everything is good probably the best in the Manitowoc, Two Rivers area. I stopped in with friends on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated immediately. After enjoying some homemade chips and salsa, I decided on the Burrito Rio Bravo. This a flour tortilla filled with shredded beef tips, rice, and beans and topped with cheese sauce and red enchilada sauce. The burrito was generous in size. The beef tips were tender and seasoned nicely. Combined with the rice and beans, this burrito made for a satisfying lunch. The two different sauces were each on its own half, giving both halves its own flavor. I'm looking forward to trying more items from the menu. read more

This is a sad review to write because this used to be a great place to eat at. I'll start by saying the food started to taste great. The staff was awesome, but I don't think the place is clean. Now the rest. When we first walked in, we were seated at a booth that had a seat ripped and had the foam coming out. I guess I could have asked to sit somewhere else, but I didn't. The longer I sat there, the more I wondered what could be growing in that torn cushion. This made me look at everything! The hot pads that are on the handle of the dish they serve Fajitas in were crusty. Gag. The boards that the hot plate sits on were crusty too. Yuck. I lost my appetite and didn't eat but a couple of bites of my food. My husband had no issues. He doesn't pay attention. Is it too much to ask to have clean things in a restaurant? Service: Friendly, and checked in with us frequently. We were seated immediately upon entering the establishment. Drinks and food came out quick. Atmosphere: Very vibrant. Our booth was clean and the floor was too. There is a lot of seating in here and the parking lot has ample space. Food: Not a fan of the complimentary salsa and chips, not enough heat, and it almost had an oily texture to it? The entrees were fine, the verde sauce had great acidity and citrus notes, which I liked but I wish it had more heat (maybe pop a few fire roasted jalapenos in with the Tomatillos when blending it?). I wasn't a big fan of their refried beans, something was just off about them, maybe lacking salt? The rice was dryer than what I expected. I felt like the food was tamed down and a bit americanized compared to some of the more authentic places I've been. All in all, decent food, decent price, large portions. Beverages: The margs were decent, nothing special about them, and it didn't seem like there was a lot of tequila (I got the medium size 22 oz. and didn't feel any type of a buzz). The mexican restaurant my fiance and I frequent (and love) in Greenvillle, one margarita and I'm half in the bag and that is a 12 oz size vs. the 22 oz. I drank here. Solid turnstile Mexican food right off the highway. Perfect stop on the way back from the packers games! Enchiladas and rice were delicious, as was the chips and salsa. Price is about $10-13 per meal. We'll definitely keep this on our list for the future as well. read more

The only thing bigger than El Tequila is the size of their margaritas! Truly a party in a bowl. With tons of tables and quick service, they are nailing delivery of quick fresh Mexican to the masses in Manitowoc. My friend and I visited on a night when we wanted to eat before going off to an event with the Open Air Classic convertible tour. I ordered the shrimp tacos and was delighted. The three tacos were piles of fresh shrimp, veggies and cilantro served open face on soft tortillas. It was like healthy salad on a platter and I appreciated that. I didn't need to eat a lot of tortilla to feel satisfied with my choice. Oh we got other things as well, a bountiful basket of chips and salsa, sides of rice and beans, all the accoutrements one expects in a Mexican restaurant. You can bet we left happy and satisfied. Probably the best kept secret in Manitowoc!! Their chips are homemade and the salsa is so fresh and tasy! (Try mixing the green habenero sauce on the table with the salsa!!) It's out of this world! I've been to many Mexican restaurants in California and this one managed to completely shock me. Like when you take a bite and look at your family with wide eyes and silence. Service was really fast (although it was early in the day) and our waiter was really funny. Really cool interior and I even added some of the music to my playlist. If you're not sure what to get (because they do have a huge menu), get the special dinner. It'll allow you to try some signature Mexican dishes, so you can decide if you like their version or not. We went here with a larger party. The service was fine although you could tell the waiter was new. He did not know all of the items on the menu and had to come back multiple times to take all of our orders. There was free salsa and chips on the table, which were okay. The chips did not have a lot of flavor and the salsa was adequate. I ordered the quesadilla ranchero with chicken. It was not bad, but not that great either. It had a lot of chicken in it, but now much cheese. On the side was lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, and onions if you wished to add that to the quesadilla.
