Cons: Service was terrible! It took a very long time to get our food or have attention paid to us. It was very busy on a Sunday at dinner time but it appeared there was only 1 waiter for about a dozen filled tables. Hostess tried to help him but she told us she was talked to about taking any drink orders so we were out of luck. Asked for water & napkins numerous times. We noticed customers were looking at their watches and rolling their eyes. They told us they would have to charge for a refill on chips and they charge extra if you want sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese on their combos. Really? They have a sign posted outside their door stating that due to the cost of living their prices have gone up...not reflected yet on their menus but in their computers. Plan on a LONG time to wait for your food, anything extra you may ask for and for your check. The kitchen on the other side of the dining area was loud. This place looked like it needed a good cleaning. Positives were the margaritas were great and food delicious. We were happy to support a local business, however, we wont be back. read more

No wait to be seated, which is always nice. Meal was solid with good-sized portions overall--except for the guac. A small is definitely small. Margaritas, on the other hand, were generously sized and a good value for the price. Would definitely come back. read more

When we came here it was pretty empty so take that into consideration. We had a party of 5 and were able to be seated right away. It wasn't too long before the waiter came over to get our drink orders and the drinks came out pretty quickly which was nice. He gave us ample time (without being too much) to decide what we'd like to order for food. Updating my review. We gave this place a second try. The molcajete was amazing!! Service was on point too..... But they still should take our previous tips regarding the rice and guacamole. If you want delicious Mexican rice (you could use fideo/vermicelli too), follow these steps. Heat oil, brown rice/pasta w/ chopped onions. Throw in some minced garlic just before you're done browning. Cook that for about 30 seconds and add some regular tomato sauce. Cook for a few seconds then add your liquid. Liquid is whatever it calls for depending on amount of rice/pasta you are making. For the liquid. Mix Knorr chicken stock (powder) according to instructions. Cook until it's done. Casa Mexico in Two Rivers, WI is an authentic mexican restaurant with an authentic mexican menu. The food is delicious and they provide incredibly great, kind, fast and friendly service! Both their cooks and servers are knowledgeable, helpful, and extremely accommodating. We were in Two Rivers just for an overnight and this restaurant was right behind our hotel. We are so happy we decided to give this restaurant a try! We arrived 25 minutes before closing and they still welcomed us in and provided full service! We ordered the Street Tacos and the Chicken Chimichanga (which was out of this world). Erik-eduardo Laporta, was not only our incredibly friendly cook, he was also our server. Just got back from a month in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, where I was sampling (obviously) Mexican food daily. Casa México nails it! Some of the food I had in Mexico was less authentically Mexican than the food served here (lots of Canadians live and operate restaurants there). The street tacos at Casa Mexico remind me of the best street vendor tacos I had there - albeit they were only 15 pesos (77 cents) there. Also, the margaritas were better in Puerto Vallarta (but then again, the city of Tequila is a short drive away). Previous review: This is probably now the best restaurant in Two Rivers. First time eating here. Fantastic restaurant!! Comida muy deliciosa! Servicio impresionante! We had an amazing meal! Friendly, fast, and attentive staff, HUGE portions, GREAT queso dip, VERY GOOD margaritas! Melissa and I both had the, El Texano-Steak, chicken and shrimp grilled with onions, greens, yellow and red bell peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes over a bed of rice covered with cheese sauce served with lettuce, guacamole, sour cream and Pico de Gallo. We also ordered a side of refried beans. Everything had such wonderful flavor! I feel using the word " luscious" is appropriate for describing the food that we throughly enjoyed! Nice casual atmosphere with a colorful Mexican theme that adds to the overall dining experience. Restaurant has a very large dining room capable of handling large groups with ease. The menu has a large selection of dishes at reasonable prices and a nice drink menu that also has a happy hour. Prior to the meal had homemade Chips and salsa that are provided free with your meal as an appetizer. Relative to the meal, I had a fajita taco salad for $10 where entree was tasty and good value for the money. The one disappointment I had with the meal is that it came with ground beef rather than the shreded/cut pieces of beef I was expecting considering that it was a fajita style salad which prevented a fifth star for my review. Relative to the staff, they were very friendly and on top of their game with prompt service. Overall a great place to go for a dinner at a a reasonable buck. Highly recommend. read more

The most Mexican thing about this place was the authentic smell in the bathroom. I beg the people of two rivers to GET OUT MORE! This review is based on 2 visits over the course of a two-week period. Atmosphere: Very large place. The high top tables with stools are very uncomfortable. If you are bringing large groups here I would suggest to notify them in advance-otherwise they will just cram you all into a table with extra chairs pulled up and it is a TIGHT fit. The decor is decent, carved chairs like most mexican restaurants you go to in this area. Both visits there were crumbs on the tables and they were not wiped down very well. The area to wait at the bar is very tiny-so it is pretty uncomfortable while waiting for a table when they are busy, you kind of stand around awkwardly and get asked to move out of the way of the servers. Service: The worst service I've ever received in a mexican restaurant (normally happy personalities and charming cultural differences make it a fun experience). Both times they lacked writing down simple requests (ex: a lime wedge or two on the side of the dish); and these requests had to be repeated. They don't really check in with you after you've received the food, they just assume you have everything you need. The second time I went it took me 25 minutes to get a margarita; which at that point I had to remind them to get it because they had forgotten completely and never put the order in; which resulted in another 10 minute wait. So let me reiterate, 35 MINUTES FOR A MARGARITA. Also, our waiter was so hot and sweaty I didn't really want to eat or drink anything he touched in fear of the multiple dripping beads of sweat entering my drink or my food. Food: It was hot, and there was a lot of it. That's all I have for positiveness. The first time here I ordered the combo of a chile rellano and a tamale. There was about 1 tsp. or pork in the center of the tamale and it was very dry and chalky. The sauce on top was bland. The chile rellano had the entire seed pod inside of it (this should be removed before battering and frying it), so I got to spit that out into my napkin. Fun fun. The second time I ordered the chicken enchiladas and was not impressed. The chicken was dry and stringy on the inside. My boyfriend liked his food so that was good. Their salsa is very mild and watery, which was disappointing as well. The side of guacamole was lacking salt and cilantro. The food was just no on so many levels. I will not be returning to this establishment. There are plenty of other fine mexican restaurants in the area to spend my hard earned money at (El Azteca in Green Bay, El Alamo in Manitowoc, El Sarape on the West Side of Green Bay). However, this is a great addition for Two Rivers since they do not really have any cultural restaurants other than bar food and sandwiches. read more

We dined in on a Saturday at 5pm. Service was a little slow and she only checked on us once. With Mexican food it can be spicy/salty so it's nice to have refills on drinks. The chips and salsa were tasty and warm. A bit heavy on cilantro but I like that. The ambiance was nice decor was festive. A little dark and very loud. You can hear the pots and pans crashing in the kitchen. I ordered the burrito cancun and it was amazing. Rice was pretty good on the side. Prices were reasonable for the portion you get. What a charming place, from the decor to the waiters, greatness all around. I had the shrimp tacos, which I was hoping to get corn tortillas with (but indeed they are flour), and the seasoning on the shrimp (albeit a little sweet) was enjoyable. Rice and beans aren't anything to write home about, but they were equally as complimentary as the other ingredients on the plate (pico de gayo, cilantro, sour cream, and a dab of guacamole). They serve very big portions here, so be ready to ask for a to-go box. Affordable prices and again, I can't say enough great things about the staff here - warm, inviting, and accommodating. What a pleasant surprise! First, this place is big, well decorated, clean, and a unique atmosphere because of the old building! The food is the best Mexican I've had and I'm a fan of Mexican food. Got married on Cinco de Mayo too! Everything tastes fresh here. Seems much Mexican food is prepped beforehand and then heated to order, giving it the potential for a staleness I've tasted elsewhere, especially the chili rellanos. Living around this area for the last year and a half, I had yet to find anything that remotely resembles authentic Mexican food. I mean sure: you can get bland Taco-Bell-Esque food at a lot of places, but that's not the flavor I'm looking for. Casa Mexico is beyond words. What a beautiful gem in downtown Two Rivers. The atmosphere inside is just energetic. It is wide, open, colorful and all of the staff is as friendly as can be. The food is perfection. It is authentic, bursting with flavor, and the food portions are so large you will most definitely need a box to take some home. The only reason I would give it a 4 stars instead of 5 is because every time I go there and order the same burrito (Casa Burrito), I get something different. I'm definitely not one to complain, but I'm sure there are people out there that would. But really: it's a tortilla with cheese, meat, and vegetables. OMG this place was awesome. The flavor was insanely good. I have eaten at Mexican restaurants all over the us and this has gotta be one of my favorites now. Ok top 3 I ordered the chori pollo and it had the perfect level of spice and the flavor was very good. Chicken was moist and the chorizo had a ton of flavor. I also got a order of guacamole and I felt was a little pricey for a order but the flavor made me not care very good and sorta chunky with great flavor My only complaint was the hostess and older lady that clearly bathed in her perfume. Disappointed. At first I thought this place would be great. It has a nice look, nice decor, etc. The salsa was awesome, along with the warm chips. Unfortunately it went south after that. It appears like they forgot our order. The table next to us ordered after we did. They were done eating before we finally got our food. We waited at least 45 minutes from when we ordered our food. The waitress told us that 3 "to go orders" came in, and that delayed our food. So, make us wait? We are already there. But the host told us a different story. The host said one of the cooks called in, and they just had one cook, saying that is why we had the delay. We got 2 different stories on the delay. The fajitas we ordered tasted bland. Very festive looking place, when you walk in the flair is definitely south of the border. Very tall ceilings keep the sound down. We were greeted promptly and showed to our very nice and artistic booth. Ice tea and salsa and chips came in short order. Salsa was very good; but a bit mild for our tastes. I understand that Mexican restaurants have to cater to people who do not like really hot food. The second bowl of salsa was more like it. This is a vegetarian friendly place with an ample vegetarian section in the menu. I had an amazing quesadilla with spinach and perfectly sauted mushrooms. My wife had enchiladas. Both dishes were great. Refills of iced tea came automatically. Service was good enough to warrant a 20% tip. We liked this place a lot; and we intend on returning in the near future. Just a suggestion to the kitchen crew....the continuous banging of pots and dishes takes away from the ambiance of the restaurant. Other than that Casa Mexico is worth a visit. Better Mexican food than anything to offer in Manitowoc. You can stuff yourself at Casa Mexico, drive a few miles north to Point Beach State Park and walk off the calories. read more
