The food was amazing definitely the best authentic Mexican food I've had in Michigan. However, the ambiance really needs work; it feels neglected and could use a bit of fixing up. Best Mexican grocery store in the vicinity. We are Californians so we are accustomed to an abundance of Mexican cuisine including regional specialization. It is nice to discover ethnic variety here In cuisine beyond American fare. A meat counter carries marinated carne Asada, Chorizo and more exotic selections you may desire if you are more familiar with Mexican cuisine. There is a takeout window in back of the grocery store : tacos, nachos, guac, beans, enchiladas, tamales, etc We tried the barbacoa tacos and beef fajita plate from the takeout window. Adequately spicy and highly salted. Medium spicy is pretty spicy! We like spicy. Plenty of meat and double wrapped tacos. We ordered ( from meat counter) some prefrozen ground marinated beef for tacos for a 15 person taco fest and the meat was slightly sour but maybe it was just the marinade. Looks like almost all the locals in Hart, MI have lunch here. This place was BUSY! (Even at 2.30pm) They dont have indoor seating. We sat in the outdoor patio that they had, and soaked up in the sun. It is inside a mexican grocery store. Not a fancy place to walk into but the food was authentic Mexican. We were a party of 6 ; two of us had burritos, we also ordered the Bontanas (loaded chips) ; one of us had 3 tacos, and I had the Platos (special for the day) Prices were decent, I would recommend people visit this place if they are in the Area. I cannot speak for the food as I never got to try it. I was turned off by the ordering restrictions. You can only order exactly what's on the menu for that day. If you want to modify it they will not take your order. I wanted an unwrapped burrito and my tortilla on the side. If I buy it unwrapped they will not give the tortilla although I still have to pay for it. I originally wanted to order rice and bean with the fajita steak. The fajita is not on the menu today. I other words I can pay for the meal as it comes but not get all my items because they refuse to do something as simple as place the tortilla in the side. read more

Wow! A taco shop in the back of a supermarket doesn't sound too appetizing but don't let that deter you. Food is fantastic! We got barbecoa, pastor and carnitas tacos. This was our 2nd trip. Our 1st was 3 years ago. We thought we would give it a 2nd chance. The verdict is a huge fail. We sat our table for 20 min before deciding to leave. We were seated by the host. He handed us menus and told us our waitress would be right with us. Noone acknowledged our presence after that. We weren't asked if we would love a water while we wait or how about chips and salsa. Yes, this restaurant charges you for their chips and salsa. If they expect you to wait 20 min or longer then they needed to be handing out chips and salsa. This is the exact same experience we had 3 years ago. Only we didn't walk out the first time. Whomever manages this place needs to train their staff. If the waitresses aren't even going to acknowledge you while you wait that long, the host/hostess needs to be getting your drinks and ask if you would like chips and salsa and go get it. It's the 2nd worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. The 1st worse was at this restaurant 3 years ago. DO BETTER! read more

This restaurant has 5 stars for a reason! The most authentic Mexican food you will ever have! Hidden in the back of the Mexican grocery store is La Probadita. They serve tacos, gorditas, tamales, quesadillas etc. They also make their own homemade salsa. The mild is prettyyy spicy for being "mild" and the hottest one will knock your socks off it's so hot! The grocery store feels like you transported to another country. It has all the Hispanic themed foods such as condiments, snacks, homemade bakery items, etc, Inside the grocery store is also a butcher counter. They have a variety of meats you can take home to cook such as a fajita mixture, chorizo, seasoned beef, etc. There is so much to choose from at the butcher counter and it is so fresh. The restaurant is in the back of the grocery store. There is an entrance in the front of the building and the back of the building and guests can use either entrance. They do have a bathroom but it is not the cleanest. There is free parking in front of the building and in the back of the building. The staff speak both English and Spanish which is helpful. There is no indoor seating but if it's a nice day outside you can walk right around the corner to the Hart Commons or the alley to sit at a picnic table and eat. The pricing is fair and the food is incredibly delicious. Some people say it's the best authentic Mexican food in Michigan! Worth the drive or if you're passing through worth the stop! read more

Wow, what a truly delicious (and honestly, surprising) meal. This place had been suggested by a friend, and to be frank, I was skeptical at first. But oh man, I feel like when there's an eatery located in the back of a grocery store, the ceiling is quite high. We ordered the botanas (which to my naive self was a supreme nacho plate), gordita, and quesadilla. Full disclaimer - we live mostly in San Diego, so the thought of getting Mexican food in Western Michigan was a bit awkward (I mean no offense here). The quesadilla was probably one of the best I've ever had - we ordered it with al pastor meat and boy was the filling truly delicious. It had a generous addition of pineapple (although more pineapple is never a bad thing) and the cheese acted as a delicious glue between the tortilla wrapping. The botanas were intense. They gave us this green salsa that I originally thought was like a typical tomatillo salsa verde...but it was not as it was insanely spicy but so good. Finally, the gordita - oh my goodness the gordita. The pillowy soft corn exterior with a truly yummy carne asada and onion filling was what I now will dream of. In fact, when I return to San Diego, I want to find a gordita that can rival the one I had from La Probadita. All in all, the 5 star average rating this place has is no lie. Unfortunately when we went around the holidays, it was closed the next two days, otherwise every single meal I would have voted to eat here. If you are within a 30 minute radius (or frankly farther), it is definitively worth the trip. Please don't make the mistake I made and only get one gordita - I would have liked to have gotten like 5. Don't be intimidated by the lack of signage or the fact that it's In the back of a grocery store! Absolutely delicious food. I'm a Mexican food junkie and I'd drive all the way from Chicago to eat here, Well almost! ; ). One important thing to note is that they are cash only but there is an atm in the grocery store up front. They have a nice beer list too! I would gladly give it 5 stars but at 6 pm on a Wednesday night they ran OUT OF CHIPS, SALSA and GUACAMOLE!! Yes, In my head I'm YELLING!! WTH. This cash only stop has authentic, quality items across its small but tasty menu. My wife and I ended up grabbing a 24 oz. Modelo to split from the store side, which complimented the meal perfectly.
