Looks like almost all the locals in Hart, MI have lunch here. This place was BUSY! (Even at 2.30pm) They dont have indoor seating. We sat in the outdoor patio that they had, and soaked up in the sun. It is inside a mexican grocery store. Not a fancy place to walk into but the food was authentic Mexican. We were a party of 6 ; two of us had burritos, we also ordered the Bontanas (loaded chips) ; one of us had 3 tacos, and I had the Platos (special for the day) Prices were decent, I would recommend people visit this place if they are in the Area. We were driving back from Silver Lakes to Ludington.

Really enjoyed my meal. Authentic food. The grilled onion was the star. Gordita was great.

It doesn't get more authentic. Family owned and I haven't had a bad meal. I always go for what's on special and if it's Mole or Enchiladas..I get extra.

This restaurant has 5 stars for a reason! The most authentic Mexican food you will ever have! Hidden in the back of the Mexican grocery store is La Probadita. They serve tacos, gorditas, tamales, quesadillas etc. They also make their own homemade salsa. The mild is prettyyy spicy for being "mild" and the hottest one will knock your socks off it's so hot! The grocery store feels like you transported to another country. It has all the Hispanic themed foods such as condiments, snacks, homemade bakery items, etc, Inside the grocery store is also a butcher counter. They have a variety of meats you can take home to cook such as a fajita mixture, chorizo, seasoned beef, etc. There is so much to choose from at the butcher counter and it is so fresh. The restaurant is in the back of the grocery store. There is an entrance in the front of the building and the back of the building and guests can use either entrance. They do have a bathroom but it is not the cleanest. There is free parking in front of the building and in the back of the building. The staff speak both English and Spanish which is helpful. There is no indoor seating but if it's a nice day outside you can walk right around the corner to the Hart Commons or the alley to sit at a picnic table and eat. The pricing is fair and the food is incredibly delicious. Some people say it's the best authentic Mexican food in Michigan! Worth the drive or if you're passing through worth the stop!

Real Mexican food! I am from So Cal and I thought I wouldn't find good mexican food. I was thrilled to hear spanish. Tamale was good. Cebollitas were good. Queso frito was delicious. We had the combo so I could sample everything.

Best fast tacos in Michigan. This place is in a unique location, inside of a grocery store. Definitely a hidden gem! They have amazing chicken tacos and super nice staff! Highly recommend for any Mexican food!!!

Genuinely authentic. Best torta ever! Maybe a little bit spartan but definitely worth it. Having nopales (cactus) on the menu is a big plus.

Finally...a good restaurant on River Street! We're in Manistee about a dozen times a year and I'm…read moreso burnt out on not having good places to eat. If you're looking for good Mexican, skip 'Taco Bout It' (which is very generic Americanized Mexican fare) and go here instead! This place just opened in the old River Street Station location and it's now my favorite place around town. Authentic Mexican food and drink in a very cool "Day of the Dead" style atmosphere. Awesome custom murals and decorations inside. It was totally empty when we walked in at 3pm on a Wednesday (to be expected) so we got 1 on 1 service at the bar. Food was super fresh and made to order. The freshly fried taquitos with super fresh veggies were awesome, and the tequila drinks were solid. I'll go here again the first chance I get. I feel like some restaurants in Manistee think they're fancy but are just overpriced and the food isn't very good (lookin' at you Golden Stag and Blue Fish). Then you have second tier food at Taco Bout It, Fricanos and North Channel. The food at these places almost seem like the quality of "theme park food" (generic and not very fresh). This place, IMO, is a big step forward. Fresh and authentic, probably family-owned (that was the vibe I got), with a great atmosphere (they were jammin' some modern Mexican music videos on the tv over the bar, which is WAY better than places that play ESPN or some political news channel). I predict that, if they can last until summer and have a good business-minded owner, they'll be jam packed all summer long. Or at least I hope so because I want it to be here, and be thriving, each time we visit Manistee!

The food is authentic, unique, and absolutely delicious. The menu is large and has options for everyone! The prices are fair and the portions are large. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The deck overlooking the beautiful river has a picturesque view of historic Manistee, a nice breeze, and is conveniently right across the river from the live music pavilion!

We showed up anticipating placing a takeout order, assuming a short wait, and that's what we got. The neighborhood was a little bit iffy, with bars on the windows of the building, and there was really no parking lot, so street parking only. It's very small inside with an order/pickup Window and no seating. There's a big menu on the wall with pictures, and paper menus to read and/or take with you. The lady working was very very helpful with recommendations, explaining dishes, and helping us to decide what to order. Fantastic customer service. The food came out EXTREMELY fast. I actually couldn't believe it was already our order. We got an array of items and everything was pretty good. We got the Panchita, which was like loaded nachos, and it was good, but being takeout, it was soggy by the time we ate it. The spicy tamales were good but dry, and I would probably try those again. The burrito was VERY good - and the green salsa was delicious!

They came three to an order for only $6, which I thought was a great value. They were a bit smaller than other tamales I've had before, but they were the best ones I've ever had. The masa was soft and not dry at all, and the tamales held together well. The ratio of filling to masa was good due to the smaller size, and the pork was tender and flavorful. These weren't super spicy but had a little kick to them. We were offered a cup of verde salsa, which was the perfect accompaniment. I'm really excited to check out Navarro's restaurant the next time we're in Muskegon. They have been family owned and operated for nearly 45 years, and with tamales this good, I can see why!
