If you're in or around Cadillac, DGS is a must stop... This local store is your classic throwback "Up North" market in the woods... The minute you walk in you're going to be hungry, even if you just ate. The house smoked and cured meats can literally be smelled in the parking lot. DGS has everything from local North Michigan specialities to fresh produce and an array of MI butchery products. The star of the show however is all their house made meats... Sausages, brats, jerky, etc., DSG has it all. Plus the staff is super friendly and helpful... Some of the friendliest people we've met in a while. When we're in the Cadillac area again, we will no doubt make a point to get back to DGS to stock up... Two thumbs up. read more

Huge store (apparently they just renovated) with all the groceries or outdoor things you could need. You can grab milk, a gallon of paint, a new Egg Smoker, and then spend another $100 on jerky easily. The selection of jerky and other smoked products is impressive! I guess this was in the past just a small general store with amazing jerky. Now the selection of jerky ranges from original beef, to Kobe beef, to Turkey/chicken/venison jerky. We went up north in January 2021 to do a quick winter check on our cottage. Of course, since we have to drive by the Dublin General Store to get there, we stopped! (h/t to Becky H for the inspo!). I am so happy they have a new building after the fire last year. Let me tell you about the new building: IT IS ENORMOUS!!! You walk in, and there's a lovely fresh section, and plenty of grocery aisles. But what you'll probably go there for is the jerky section, which is along the wall to the right, as you head in. There is SO MUCH JERKY!! Near there, you'll find cheeses (including smoked cheese) and a hot deli bar. I had queried via facebook about smoked fish; after we returned home, they had replied that YES they have smoked fish! I was really happy to see this, since the smoked fish place in Wellston has been closed for a few years, and the smoked fish place up in Frankfort is out of the way for us. Hot tip: that jerky dip is SCRUMPTIOUS! We went on a Saturday, which was a mistake in covid times. There were signs on the door about masking, but we saw several people unmasked, and the store was pretty crowded. read more

I absolutely love this place more than any other store I have ever went to. Got Jerky??? They do!!! And they have my heart!!! They have cheeses and wines and just about anything else you could possibly want and at a great price! The customer service was absolutely exceptional. I walked up and down each aisle browsing to see what I could want. But the time I got to the third aisle my buggy was full. I wanted to cover my eyes went I got to the register. But to my surprise. This store used to be amazing. Whoever burned it down did the owners a huge disservice. The old store was a good size but still felt like a quaint family owned gem. I would take all my friends and relatives there like it was an awesome tourist stop. Now it's a huge, stark white metal building with no charm. The prices are ridiculous for groceries (way more than before). I didn't mind paying extra before because I loved the feel of the place. Now it's just a large, boring, overpriced business. I'll buy my stuff when I'm in Ludington or Manistee. If I want jerky, I'll still buy from here but that's all. It won't be one of my "let's go for a ride to Dublin" trips anymore. read more

Nothing beats the Dublin General Store! I originally grew up going to their other location in Grandville, but discovered the original location while camping with the in-laws. The Dublin General Store is the #1 reason I like coming up to this area. I load up on brats, jerky, and beef sticks every time I'm in the area. The store is a Spartan grocery store, meat market, and hardware all wrapped into one. My go-to are the potato, cheese, and bacon brats. Gotta get those every time. read more

My friends have been coming up to nearby Hoxeyville every summer to stay at a cabin for the week. A quick trip to Dublin is always the first thing we do to load up on food, booze, and supplies. Frankly they have everything you could possibly need to camp in Northern Michigan. The jerky is obviously the headliner because you simply will not find a better selection and variety anywhere in Michigan. Beef, chicken, ostrich, venison, elk, and I think I saw python (?!?) the last time I was there. Each meat has many different flavors with my personal favorites being the hot one's like Sweet Heat, Cajun, Hellfire, Superman, and their hottest jerky the Grim Reaper (seasoned with the Carolina Reaper pepper which is the current hottest in the world). Typical bag of jerky is about $15 with the weirder varieties costing more. Aside from that they have an amazing meat section! Crazy variety of homemade brats (TRY THE CHILI CHEESE BRATS), huge packs of fresh sliced bacon, and enough fresh beef to feed your entire group for a week. Good cheese curds too! I always end up going back to Dublin when we're leaving for home to pick up another bag of jerky and some brats. I can't recommend this place enough! read more

JERKY! Yes! My husband has been talking about 'a little country store' that carries ridiculous amounts of jerky, for literally the longest time now. He says it's right in the middle of nowhere but he just couldn't remember where. After a recent trip up North I decided to Yelp jerky and lo and behold, I found this magical place that he'd been talking about for so long. Middle of nowhere is pretty accurate, it was a treat to find this place. Seriously a treat, as I found an Amish maple farm on our way there. Local maple syrup detour - sign me up for that! So back to the jerky. It's just a regular store which carries grocery items but then the back portion has a massive wall of refrigerated jerky real estate. It's a little known fact that I get crazy excited over jerky so imagine my surprise after realizing there's literally 50 some different kinds here. The guy working the counter was being such a good sport about my samples, too. My husband loves whichever the stupid-hot kind is, but it's too habanero-y for me. I do really like original seasoning, particularly the elk. They don't just have beef by the way, there's chicken, turkey, elk, venison, hare and some other gamey meats. Also noteworthy is their homemade fudge, specifically the cookies n cream kind. If you love seafoam, they have it here! Like a dumbass I forgot to bring some home, but at least I found a place where to get it. They just opened up a jerky outlet in Kentwood (Grand Rapids) which is a lot more convenient geographically. read more

In the back of the store is an overwhelming jerky and smoked meat counter. It also has some aged and smoked cheeses. They provided samples on the counter of three cheeses (the smoked string cheese was awesome) and a probably five types of jerky. We got some of the elk jerky. Slightly salty, but it didn't overshadow the meaty flavor. Very, very tasty. As Jerry mentioned -- not cheap -- but worth it. I was in town with friends for a long weekend and already had most of our meals planned. Beyond the meat selection, they are a typical general store set in the middle of nowhere and could prepare you for the zombie apocalypse. Since it was summer, I was focused on the summer highlights. This isn't your typical grocery store. Walk to the back and you will come across a wall of meat! If you have blood coursing through your veins, your gonna love this place. It was certainly the best jerky store I've ever been in. They have so many choices of jerky it's almost hard to decide. I also liked that they carried everything we needed while on our vacation. I hate to admit it, being it not very lady like....but I dig me some jerky! I was visiting my parents in Houghton lake, and heard this was THE place to get your jerky on. I was skeptical making an hour-ish trek for some dried meat....but I was a believer after experiencing it. This place is a mecka of jerky. It is in a glass case as big as any butcher. I mean TONS of jerky. Beef, Chicken, Turkey. Pork, Osterich, Venison, Buffalo, Elk.... I personally stick to Beef, chicken and turkey. 20 kinds of beef jeky alone! Corned beef to hellfire to KOBE. Great general store known for the best jerky in the nation.. Never seen a selection as big with even exotic meats. And the deli section always has great cuts of meats at real reasonable prices..even better than the big chain discount stores.. If your up north..make is a destination stop for sure. read more

On a recent trip to north MI I was told that we had to make a trek out in the snow to go to Dublin because they had the best jerky ever. Man, it really was very good. They make lots of flavors of jerky from lots of different animals. It was all soo good. Also they sell cheese curds and the best chocolate milk(not an in house brand) as well! You'll find everything you need to fill you pantry and your tummy at this small grocery store. There is a gas station across the street as well if you need to fill up because there isn't a lot else around. Staff was friendly. The highlight really is the meats section. I've never seen so much jerky in one spot. It was fun to just roam through and see the different options available. read more

I live in the area and agree with poster who said this store used to be amazing. Now their website hasn't been working since the store burned down. I understand it takes time but years after store has been open the website still says closed?? They used to have bi-weekly sales advertised online, Green Fridays and sometimes Mondays, which were sometimes great deals, but now everything is just way overpriced, can't tell if anything is ever reasonably priced since nothing is advertised so no longer shop here unless I'm out of something I forgot from last shopping trip to Ludington, Manistee, Cadillac or Traverse City or last minute impulse shopping, which I guess is all they're counting on now. The prices are ridiculous for all regular groceries (way more than before, and I know prices for everything are higher now but this store used to be decently priced compared to others in area and worth the shorter drive; now no way is it, much better to drive to closest Meijer or Walmart, no reason to bother here). Definitely will never recommend this place to anyone ever again either. Brats and jerky not worth extravagant prices. read more

I have been going here for over 30 years. Everything from hassling the hardware store for spark plugs for my mini bike to fresh bread at the bakery. They have become famous for their jerky and rightly so. However, this is the only grocery store for miles and I have always been impressed with their low prices and their service. The fresh bread is incredible. The jerky is epic. The people are fantastic. The family that owns it has many things going on in and around the store, but they are kind regular folks. I ordered on a Sunday night and it arrived on Tuesday. I am a Michigander and was told by many many people that Dublin's was awesome. They were right it is awesome. I got sweet heat and plain old jerky. Both are top notch. For 14 dollars a pound it cant be beat. The shipping was $7.50 and well worth it. I couldn't drive from Novi to Wellston for less than $100. I highly, highly recommended this place you wont be disappointed. Unless you are a really picky person who complains about finding a five dollar bill on the ground because you had to bend over to pick it up. You know these types.... read more
