I found it when he asked if there was a place I'd want to go to and I suggested somewhere in west BA because he was loving way east and I'm in Tulsa. I looked on Yelp and suggested Los Vaqueros, which just happened to already be one of his favorite places. We have come back many times together since our first meeting because the service is solid with friendly staff, the food is reliably always good, and we like hopping next door when we are done and shooting some pool. He always asks them to make shrimp quesadillas. They aren't on the menu, but they will make them and they are good! The shrimp are large and juicy. I love a lunch special when we've come for lunch (like we did for our first date), but at dinner time, I tend to lean towards the margarita chicken. Super good. A nice portion of grilled veggies, and the chicken is always moist. I like that it is pretty colorful on here. I told him that was something g that o liked when we came here on our first date. But they keep lighting lower, so it's not shockingly colorful. I just really enjoy it here!

They had a live band, and Gabby the clown was making the coolest balloon yo-yos. She spent some one-on-one time with little mama showing her tricks, which made her night. Our server was 10/10, food was 10/10, and we shared the Monterey Jack steak and bacon wrapped (yes, bacon wrapped) chicken fajitas and they were MONEY. Portion size was huge too -- we still have leftovers today. The $5 margarita special was strong and tasty, and little miss even got to ride her first mechanical bull. Safe to say we'll definitely be back.

Those are guacamole, birria tacos and street tacos. When we received the chips and salsa, I noticed the salsa lacked some cilantro, but had a unique flavor, different from our other favorite Mexican food establishments. My wife was really fond of it, but said it was ok. I really liked it, even if it lacked cilantro. The guacamole came out and it looked like my guac that make at home. It was very good, didn't need any additional salt and was not overpowering in lime. I'd give it 10/10. My wife ordered the chicken street tacos. She said they were the best out of all the places we go. The chicken was flavorful and the tortillas didn't fall apart. It came with a tomatillo crema that was infused with jalapeños and was too spicy for her. I got the Birria tacos and they were especially good with the crema. The birria consumé was excellent. The rice was fluffy and tender and the refried beans were on point. They serve Coke products which includes Coke Zero and they were quick with the refills. We will definitely put this place as #2 on our list of go-to Mexican cuisine establishments. They are located in the Rose District, so the prices will be slightly higher, but it's still worth the visit.

Just look at the size of those carne asada fries! ‍ Food was very fast on this visit on the inside. Previous visits have been through the drive through, expect that to take a little more time as the food can't just roll out plate by plate like dinning in. Don't be detoured by the shredded cheese, they do have queso fresco took My Hispanic coworkers agree, some from Cali some not that this is the best anywhere in the area. We were literally told that it came premade and frozen and was "just fried." Obviously, he ordered the street tacos instead. We sat at the bar and it took a bit to get waited on but the manager jumped in and gave us water and silverware. I liked my Blackberry-Rosemary Marg but I honestly didn't feel like it had much tequila in it. The regular marg was just OK. Since it is a tequila bar and we sat at the bar, I would have liked to have discussed tequilas but my bad for not asking. Would have loved to have done a tasting. The menu was informative. We arrived around 6:45pm for the 7pm bingo, only to find out it wasn't being held on the patio as advertised. That was fine--it was hot out anyway. We were shown to a small indoor section and luckily grabbed the last high-top table. Service was very slow. We waited a while before anyone came by, and it took 40 minutes to get my margarita. Our food actually came out before our drinks. I ordered a skinny margarita but got something syrupy and full of sweet & sour mix instead. Tried to switch to wine, but surprise--they don't serve wine. At a full bar. Odd. The food was just okay at best. * "Cilantro lime" rice had corn and no trace of cilantro or lime. Not good. * Black beans with pico--bland. * Cheese enchilada--fine, but forgettable. * Queso tasted like El Chico (nostalgic, but not in a good way). * Salsa had zero spice. Our server was rarely around, and when we were ready to pay, we actually had to get up and ask the manager at the host stand to bring us our check. Not a great ending to the meal. Bingo was... fine. It moved fast but had long breaks in between rounds. We played five games and didn't win. Prizes were $10 gift cards--not bad, but not enough to bring us back.

Then I ordered fish tacos, not a fan. The portion is tiny and to me lacked in flavor. Well the next day I was still obsessing over those tamales, so I ordered to go. But the dinner, oh yeah upgrade and a side of guac. Being a Tx chick I do not like the salsa. The guac was ok large portion but it is $10. The tamales were WOMP WOMP, not the same preperation.
