Having patronized El Tapatio numerous time, it's always hot and fresh. The menu is extremely extensive, so you probably need to figure out what you are craving before arrival. The chips and salsa are always on point. Everything we have tried here is good. I love the tacos here, so lately that's been my go to. We have tried enchiladas, tamales, fajitas beef, chicken, and shrimp, also the mexican shrimp cocktail is delicious. This place is large with plenty of seating. Ample parking, and minimal wait time if at all. We will definitely continue to come here. #DenisonTexas #GraysonCounty read more

My family and I always dine here. Today we had a waitress who was so rude and unprofessional!! She made us wait for over 30 minutes before she was asked to take our order. She specifically told us to WAIT even though we were ahead to two other tables. Then she had the audacity to approach our table and say, "Are yall ready to order?" I said we have been ready, she then tells my grandkids to be quiet! Who mind you were on tablet playing games, talking amongst themselves. We told her you don't talk to them like that. We asked for another waitress. We then go to speak with manager who is on break. The waitress starts speaking Spanish and laughing! The other male who was checking people out, told her to go to the back because she was being loud and rude. That gentleman kept apologizing over and over because he is familiar with us being that we come in all the time. He said he would send another waitress/waiter to take our order....we'll no one came. We decided to leave and the gentleman was so nice to us. The waitress who was so nasty, had red highlights in her hair. I have never experienced anything so disgusting in my life!! read more

Food was pretty good, beans are bland, rice was outstanding. Service was way better than expected, tabletop could have used some repair. Monster margaritas are outstanding. Overall a good deal, not even the same league as Rustico but then again it doesn't have their menu or prices. I'm from Arizona and I've been hard pressed to find a great, let alone good Mexican food restaurant. El Tap is the best mex food I've found in Texas! It's not texmex and that makes me very happy. The staff is kind and attentive. We ordered the pollo El tapetio with mushrooms and it was amazing. We also ordered the mix fajitas and poured the queso on it and was awesome!! The queso is the best! You know that scene in Ratatouille where the food critic tastes Remy's food & he has an immediate flashback to his mom's cooking when he was a kid? I ordered the Enchiladas Mexicana & one bite of the enchilada with green sauce took me back to a memory of walking home from school to my best friend's house when his mom would cook for us after school. That is a memory that I didn't realize I had until I walked into this restaurant. I've spent my entire life in Texas & Oklahoma. I've eaten so much Tex mex that I actually kind of hate it as much as I like it. Also, the location is awkwardly placed on a weird side road next to a major road. It's very easy to overlook. Absolute garbage...ate there one time...ordered beef and cheese enchiladas..they were unlike any enchiladas I ever saw and served with no chili con carne sauce...I asked for some and was served a sauce that tasted only like catsup.. As one commenter on here stated, the proportions are big...but also cheap priced...guess that is why it is popular among those who do not care about quality...only all you can eat for little money...this location has been 2-3 previous Mexican restaurants, but apparently were too expensive... Dishes here are plenty. The menu is large, the prices are decent and the portions are hefty, so it's a good value. The guacamole could use some work (i.e. adding some garlic, salt and lime) and the ground beef has too many tomatoes in it. However, the chips are addicting and Happy Hour pretty much runs the entire day (3-9p). Cheaper than Kent's, but still not a favorite of mine. read more

Your pretty standard Tex Mex restaurant. I haven't had any really good Tex-Mex in a long time so I was really excited when I arrived here, especially for their white queso. But when the queso came out, I was a little disappointed because it was really watery. The salsa was too, now that I think about it and both were really one dimensional with no other flavor. The queso tasted like a watery version of velveeta. Both items just didn't interest me much. I ordered a chile relleno a la carte because I wasn't super hungry but also wasn't really impressed. It didn't have much of flavor even though it was covered in their red sauce. As far as chile rellenos go, theirs were a bit plain and was really greasy. My friend's quesadilla, on the other hand, tasted really good with the tortilla crisped up nicely and tender beef and veggies inside. I would pass on the white queso next time and probably stick to something a little bit more forgiving like one of their many enchilada platters. read more

Today I had the WORST food (of any kind) in my life. Three of us had lunch at El Tapatio. My husband had a combination plate with tilapia and shrimp, which he said was 'okay' while my friend had tamales, which were not what she ordered but the waitress never came by so she ate one of them. I ordered one chile relleno and one chicken enchilada. The thick soggy tortilla could have been made last week. It looked disgusting and had almost no taste. The relleno was also soggy with thick batter. None of us could tell what was inside. I ate two bites of each. I love Mexican food and I'm trying every Mexican restaurant in the area. I've found a few that are pretty good and no others this bad. BTW, no one checked on us or asked if anything was wrong - just plunked the bill on the table. read more

We went here due to the star rating. Overall it was good. My personal experience wasn't as good as my husband's. My husband enjoyed his food. He had the 3 enchiladas with the different sauces. He felt that the sauces were pretty unique and liked that. He requested extra spicy which they were. My daughter had the kids plain burger and a said it was the best burger she'd had. As for me, we went to the restroom and I suppose the situation set the stage for me in a negative way. A lady walked in that rushed into the large stall and began throwing up. We quickly walked out. Then during my meal the guy across the way was celebrating his daughter's wedding with these massive margaritas but he kept belching so loudly through my meal that it disrupted me from enjoying my meal since I find this to be extremely rude and gross. I know the restaurant has no control of this but it's what my experience was. My food was decent, chicken was a little dry and beans a bit too salty but the shrimp was good. My husband got the chile relleno and thoroughly enjoyed in which is a rarity for him. I would be willing to give it another try. Also, the entry door was sticky to the touch. Needed to be cleaned. Service was good and to our pleasant surprise there was a patron sitting next to us that made our daughter a balloon animal. It was really sweet and just gave me a small town feel. read more

This place used to be great but has apparently stopped being good. The nacho deluxe was no bueno. It was covered in watery white queso which caused the chips to be mushy and everything else tested gross. When the waitress asked how it was I said not good, when the manager asked as we were checking out I said no good as well, adding it was mushy, he just got quiet and said our total, after I paid he muttered sorry, I guess so, we won't be back. read more

I love this place! Their pork chile verde is the best. Everything else is good too. It's hard to rave too much over Tex-Mex because you already know what up... It's beans , meat , and cheese with a tortilla in some shape or another ... Roll it up , BAM! Burrito , fold it in half.. BAM! Taco , fold it in half and lay it on its side...BAM! Quesadilla .. I think you get the point but this place is the best at combining those ingredients and like I said, the pork chili verdè is the BOMB! read more

Two days later, my friends and I were hungry and couldn't stop thinking about this pizza and salad. So we ordered out again mid day. This time we got a full salad, added chicken, and asked for extra toppings and dressing. Definitely ask for extra, especially if you're sharing, because the normal amount isn't quite enough. I'm a culinary dietitian and meant to ask for their ranch recipe, but totally forgot. Ughhh!! So delicious though! There was a small mix-up with the second order and we had to drive back, but the customer service was great and it was no issue at all to fix. Highly recommend!!!
