This is definitely a hidden gem that locals only know about! Small, not fancy whatsoever.. you actually feel like you are in Mexico! Prices are very reasonable, and the quality of food is excellent. All homemade it is the real authentic deal! Service was excellent. They all multitask.. I had the steak Chile relleno and it was hands-down the best I have ever had , including those that I have eaten in Mexico. I have been had the special of the day which was a burrito and he had shredded chicken for the meat inside. It was huge and he said delicious. I also ordered a bowl of red pozole to go I tasted it and it is again one of the best I've ever eaten! The person that is cooking the food here for sure is a MasterChef and quite possibly is not getting the recognition. Was my first time ordering from here ordered two salads a taquito salad and a fajita salad wanted to share the salads and try them both. When I got home realized I received two of the fajita salads. I drove by La Ranchera today and saw that the parking lot was overflowing, that's usually a good sign. I parked, went in and had to wait for a table. The dining room is pretty small, but it was filled up. I had pretty high hopes for my carne asada. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. The rice, beans, and corn tortillas were good. The steak itself needed a bit more seasoning for my taste. Would I eat here again - maybe, but I'd try something else. They do a lot of orders for delivery - I watched them stack up the orders and the drivers came in for pickup. So, they are popular, maybe I just ordered the wrong item today. read more

This place is a gem! Food: SHERMAN TX IS NOT PLAYING WITH THESE PORTIONS.. first off tell me why they gave me a whole cauldron of pozole!! With a whole PLATTER of garnishes for it. In Dallas they give you a dang teacup and 2 leaves smh. So big bowl of pozole is awesome then I start thinking that the meat portion is not gonna be proportional to the huge soup size like there's no way.... TELL ME WHY THE MEAAT WAS PROPORTIONATE IF NOT OVER PROPORTION.. I was so shook. The picture I took doesn't do it justice. The pork in it was perfectly tender... The tacos were also a good size and delicious. We got the al pastor, Lengua, brisket, and chicken. The onions in them were perfect. Each taco was at the most $2.50 which is much appreciated. Service: service was decently quick. We got there and there was maybe two other occupied tables then boom outta nowhere everything is full and our food still came out in a good time. Shoutout to the server who was working like an engine and I think it was just her and one other girl. She was also very professional. I could tell she was busy but still was so nice and accommodating . Make sure y'all tip her!! Other things: very big water cups, didn't need a refill until the very end. What a nice surprise in such a small town. My brother told me that he visits here once a week if not more and I understand why. I ordered the menudo (weekends only) and it was incredibly flavorful and the portion was huge. They definitely do not skimp on the meat/stomach here. You can get the menudo with pig feet or corn. I can say that the pig feet were very tender along with all of the other bits that traditionally comes in menudo. I typically like a lot of lime, cilantro and onion in mine and had to ask for more than what was served so I was happy that the server was so friendly. She was also very sweet to my nephew and niece which gives this place extra points. It appeared that most of the menu items were huge portions especially the tortas so come hungry. If you happen to be in the area, I would highly recommend this place. read more

Really great food at an extremely reasonable price. I got 12 gorditas, chips, and salsa for just over $20!! I have to go back and try everything else on the menu. The special sauces are spicy. The green is good but mostly just heat. The orange one is hot but has a really great flavor. read more
