Saturday we went over to Kent's Tex-Mex. And it was very good. There was a young man that waited on us that was one of the nicest servers I have ever had wait on our table. He was so friendly and waited on us as if we were the only people there even though it was very busy. All of the staff were very nice and friendly. The food was great and you will not be hungry when you leave there as the portions were huge. And the restaurant was crowded but even with the crowd it was not too loud and I had a great time. read more

Stopped by this location for my daughters birthday with party of about 18 to 20 people. This is probably one of the hardest reviews Ive done to this point. The only reason for the three stars is the food and the staff. Food was absolutely delicious and not one person out of our party had anything bad to say about the food. We even had a KAREN in our group and she was bragging about the food... Staff was very nice and helpful and did an amazing job with our group. Drinks stayed full and the chips and salsa stayed full. Ok now that you have heard the good let me give you the not so good. The A/c in this place was nonexistent ( yea I know it's Texas and I'm a fat guy but wow it was hottt). We asked the staff to turn on one of the probably 20 ceiling fans and they stated it would only make it hotter. Then the bathrooms OMG, no A/C had a floor fan to keep the heat down but wow close your mouth when you walk in... Jokes aside it was bad from the walls having poop or chocolate pudding smeared down the wall. Place has great food and friendly staff but the overall is not great, owner should definitely step up and fix the cleaning of the restrooms and do something with the A/C you don't want to spend the money you work hard for with sweat running into your food. read more

My daughter ordered the chicken quesadilla dinner , my wife the chicken enchilada dinner, my mother-in-law ordered the Laredo entree. I had the cheese enchiladas meal. Our drinks were basic, water or tea, though I ordered coffee. We did not wait long, our meals arrived very hot! The food was plentiful too, quite tasty too. My only reservation was the carne sauce on my enchiladas, next time I'll ask for a traditional red sauce. I was SO EXCITE to try Kent's. I've passed by multiple times and it seems like they usually have a pretty decent amount of cars in their lot, so I was expecting something good. I was pretty durn wrong. The chips are bland, seriously like cardboard. The salsa has to be Pace Picante, has to be. It's a jarred salsa of some type (it's Pace, gotta be). Our meals looked great, but taste was a different story. Rice was bland, beans were ok, but kinda bland. The beef quesadilla was good, flautas were bland. The guacamole seems fresh, so there's that. Overall, a pretty underwhelming meal. I guess at least is wasn't greasy, like most Tex Mex in Texoma. :( Our waitress was super nice, but not super attentive. We didn't go without drinks, just mentioning it because some people want their waitress to check on them every 10 mins... we are not those people, she was perfect for us. The clientele seems to be an older crowd, so maybe that's why things don't have any salt? LOL! I mean, Matlock was playing on their TV... so... The hostess sat us at a table where the AC was leaking and spitting out water on us. They allowed us to switch tables. Ordered queso but the waitress forgot and we had to remind her...our food got there before the queso showed up. The food was a little bland and not much taste to it. My wife and I were looking for someplace we had not tried before. Going from TMC and heading back to OK we went through Denison and saw Kent's. Looks like an old building, but there were several cars in the parking lot so we decided to try it. We are so glad we did. My wife had the chicken fajita quesadillas and I had the beef fajita enchiladas, both were very good. The service was fast and attentive. The only issue we had was with the chips and questions. We ate there Sunday with a large group. Everyone was impressed not only with the service and atmosphere but with the food. The cheese enchiladas were perfect, cheesy, right amount of chili, really good. Taco salad was huge, shareable. Saw enchiladas with eggs on a couple of plates and it looked great. Only plate that was lacking was what looked like a chicken finger salad without any dressing. The diner who ordered it said "never ordering it again and it was not what was expected". I'm thinking they meant to order chicken fajita salad. All in all a good, reasonably priced meal served to a large group, handled very well by an accomplished wait staff. read more

As far as Tex-Mex goes, Kent's does a pretty good job. Good, greasy greatness. However, the most annoying aspect of this restaurant is its propensity to be randomly closed. I've been once and liked it. Two other times I've tried, they've been closed. Once was a vacation. This is the problem with being from the Dallas area and moving up here. So many of these local restaurants are either closed on Sunday, Monday, sometimes Tuesdays, or randomly for vacations. As this area grows with Dallas suburbanites, and the older local crowds die off, the expectation for these restaurants will be that they're open every day except holidays. read more

This place is good. Service is some of the most consistent I've had. With the mismatch chairs and seating it feels a little unfinished. Good menu with plenty of options for everyone. With queso usually being everyone's go to when first sitting down. Theirs leaves something to be desired. With that being the first impression it can start the meal off on the wrong foot. My husband and I ate at Kent's for the first time last week. Service was ok. Everyone very friendly, but absolutley was taken back when we tried our food. My husband ordered the Chimichanga with chili con carne sauce, I ordered cheese enchiladas with chili con carne . Our meal came out in sufficient time, presentation was good, but the sauce was so bland and it actually looked like spaghetti sauce without the tomatos in it. It was a very runny, greasy sauce. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and got a chance at lunch today. I was disappointed. I think I had the Mexican Dinner but don't remember for sure. It came with a beef enchilada, beef taco, and cheese enchilada, with beans and rice. The beef enchilada was ok. The cheese enchilada was VERY chewy. The beef on the taco was very bland and the shell was a little stale. The best thing on the plate was the rice and that's just because I dumped a $5 cup of queso on it. I really loved Garcias when they were in Denison. And I'm so happy that Kent opened this place back up. Their queso is truly delicious and one of a kind. Their chicken fajita nachos are singled out on each chip instead of a pile on like most mexican restaurants in the area. My favorite dish here though, is the chicken fajita chimichanga, with queso and sour creme sauce. Food is always hot and served fast. Their salsa is good, but a little too much like Pace to me.
