This place is hidden away in a gas station but well worth a try. You order at the window then pay at the gas station register. You can either have an agua fresca or take your pick from the beverages offered by the gas station. The food is some of the best you'll get at any mexican restaurant and their salsa has enough spice to gEt your attention and keep the focus on the food. The flautas were crispy but not burnt and the insides were juicy and tender. If you're in the area, you should give this place a try. read more

Great market. Ate here based on previous reviews but being from San Diego, I wasn't impressed. Small pieces of dried out carne asada and that gross watered down "guacamole". Service was good. Just wasn't overwhelmed by the food. Maybe I didn't order their best stuff. read more

El Taco Loco - Carne asada tacos. - Mexican Near Me - Westmorland, California

This is one of my favorite spots to visit when I pass through this area. The food is authentic and the flavor is always on point! It's a small counter located inside of the El Sol Market / gas station. Sometimes we get tacos or other items, but my favorite are the beef taquitos. The meat inside is moist and flavorful compared to other taquitos I've tried that are typically dry. I love that they add sour cream, guac, and cheese on top. They are truly so delicious and I miss them all the time. I wish I had some right now. lol read more

If you live in westmorland and dont feel like driving to brawley or EC you can settle. I tried birria de res torta and it was not very flavored. When i ordered the ham n cheese torta i asked for it COLD and they cooked it. They also ignore phone calls and i heard the bald man telling the girl dont answer it and the girl got irritated when they called back. The price is too high for the flavorless food. My birria was not tender. Ill still go back if im too lazy to go to EC or Brawley. read more

Definitely a place I would come back to. Clean bathrooms, Great Service, Delicious food. What more would I want.

El Taco Loco is in El Sol Market. Order from menu board above at the counter. Then get in line for El Sol cash registers. Show the stamped receipt to the Taco Loco server who will call out your number when your food is ready. Service here is bare bones. Get in line, order, get in line, pay, grab, and go.  1) Quesadilla Loca is made of two Tortillas de Trigo/wheat nicely grilled to crispiness  toasting it in spots from from dark to light golden brown. Sandwiched in between are two meats of your choice.  Carne Asada is nubs of chopped up grilled beef that range from moist softness to a more dry chewiness which makes for interesting, varied textures. The al Pastor is grilled pork marinated in what may be sweet fruit juice & mild red chiles which soften the meat and adds a pleasant, dulcet tone.  Mild stretchy, yellowish white cheese gives a subtle, oily richness.  Shredded cabbage, diced yellow onions, cilantro adds a nice vegetal touch that enlivens this Quesadilla.   Red Salsa from primarily canned tomato sauce is also a good accompaniment.  2) 6 Flautas/Taquitos/rolled tacos made from corn tortillas that look suspiciously as though they come frozen, manufactured in an industrialized factory, out of a cardboard box.  The corn flavour is off & dead. The tortilla is too thick and may not be made totally out of corn masa so it fries up like the texture of cardboard.  The tasteless meat too looks over processed, mushy with no beefy flavour and not the classic Deshebrada/ stringy beef. The light, crispy, fresh, fried, sweet oil taste of fragrant, sweet corn is missing.  Garnishing of the Flautas is chefly with scattering of finely shredded iceberg lettuce, drizzling of a mildly acidic Tomatillo-Aguacate based Salsa Verde & light dairy Crema Mexicana/sour cream. Unfortunately, these artistic touches do not save the poor tasting performance of the Flautas themselves.  "Spanish Rice" is tinged w/ strong tasting tomato sauce that seems enriched w/ chicken Bouillon. Very dry, friable, nutty textures. One of better rice from a fast food joint.  Frijoles de Pinto is smooth, creamy, touch earthy and is a good "salsa" to dip the Flautas to add more flavours to make it more palatable.  Unfortunately, not the exquisite, delicate Flautas w/ mellow tomato, cilantro, onion, garlic, ripe, freshly mashed Aguacate salsa from Ciro's in East Los (R.I.P.), but the Quesadilla Loca is pretty damn good.  3 stars. Warning: Hot just fried taquitos on styrofoam container melted the plastic causing food contamination and ingestion of plastic. Note enclosed photo. read more

Super interesting hole in the wall. There were groups of conspiracy theorists and Christian old folk chatting inside. The food was amazing and flavorful and super cheap!! I recommend the torta with ham and cheese, but everything was great. read more

Food was amazing. Just enough heat in the salsa. Had the three taco plate with beans and rice. The jalapeño was an extra treat. This place looks out of place in a convenient store but don't let that fool you. I'll be back for another option on the menu. read more

The concierge at the Best Value Inn down the street referred us here and we were skeptical as soon as we heard that it was inside of a gas station... but curiosity and positive Yelp reviews convinced us to try it. We ordered a birria taco and carne asada taco plate (comes with rice and beans) but ended up getting three carne asada tacos instead. They were so good that we didn't even mind not getting the birria taco. The carne asada is thick and juicy, more akin to ribeye or sirloin than skirt steak, and you can tell the guacamole is fresh. Best part is they're open 24 hours. I'm so glad we went out on a limb and tried this place! read more

El Taco Loco - Carne asada tacos - Mexican Near Me - Westmorland, California

Despite El Taco Loco being inside a gas station / mini-market, this place serves up some really good Mexican food. The locals seem to agree as this place was packed with day workers. The one thing I love about this place is that they cook the asada the way I like it. My preference is that the asada is cooked long enough to get some crunchy burnt bits on it. For me it just tastes better that way. This preparation is regional to the Inland Empire area (Brawley and El Centro) which is the U.S. birthplace of Carne Asada. - Because this is located in a market you can also buy cold beverages and snacks. read more

Los Lonches papas con chorizo y machaca súper aguados y no tienen nada de sabor jamás les compraré no lo recomiendo

Four stars for the Loco Breakfast Burrito. One star for the weak and watery red "hot" salsa= three stars cumulatively. This is a taco hut located inside a gas station mini mart in Westmorland, California. The breakfast burrito had everything, including chorizo, egg, thick pieces of bacon, cheese, and more. However, I was turned off by the fact that the red colored salsa actually tastes like green chiles. (With the exception of El Cañon in Brawley, no place in IV has good red chile sauce.) The ladies working here are extremely friendly and the tables were clean. read more

Delicious! I got the carne asada tacos with everything and a Jamaica. The ladies behind the counter were sweet and helpful. I came out here for work and I wish I came to this place sooner, I would've been here everyday for lunch. It's located at the entrance of El Sol market, which is a well stocked market. They also have a Chevron gas station I'm front so this place made an excellent one stop shop for me. To add to that, they also offer date shakes so you can get your shake fix here too. read more

Everything is amazing well we ordered... carne asada fries, la quesadilla loca, tacos de pollo, carnitas y al pastor... worth the drive from el centro to Westmoreland inside el sol market and I would do it again... the ladies are very nice and attentive ... wish my el sol market had them here in el centro... read more

Great hole in the wall, don't be deceived by the fact that it's part of a convenience store and carnicería. Had the tacos and my friend had the burrito. Both were really good for what else is out in that area. I'll make sure to go there again when I'm passing through. read more

It's a taco stand inside El Sol Market. There is one guy working a grill and a fryer. He is doing amazing work. We got carne asada and a California burrito and everything seemed to be fresh, other than the tortillas obviously which were at least grilled. Everything had a very nice sauce, and was decently spicy. We sat and ate right there in the supermarket with people shopping around us and we couldn't have been happier. read more
