It's Sunday. No better time than to walk the Flea Market looking for hidden gems, and we found one.
As always friends, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
The Good:
It's just ALL good. We ordered 2 Al Pastor tacos, 2 Lengua, 2 Birria and the floutas (rolled tacos).
I have tried so many Birria tacos looking for the juicy and flavourful meat I've come to love since marring my Guatemalan hubby. I have finally found it! Most overcook their meat till it's so dry it can't hold flavor or the wonderful juice. I must say.... I'm so happy to have found this wonderful chef! I can't say enough about the birria. You have to try it for yourself.
Al Pastor tacos were just as great. Meat was not overcooked, had a unique flavor that makes you hungry for more. I'm going to use the word again... juicy!
The lengua tacos..... my absolute favorite meat in a taco, so I'm quite picky. It was so, so good! It has great flavor standing alone. Paired with the tortilla, sauce, onion and cilantro, it was.... juicy!
The floutas were fresh and crunchy, with a side of sauce for dipping. If you're not a taco fan..... these are for you.
The Bad:
Bad news, they've spoiled me for other trucks in Atwater! Also, since they're in Merced, my current favorite truck has serious competition.
The Ugly:
For the first time, I have no ugly. Yes, it's odd I know.
I haven't come across a truck that is consistent all the way across. Keep it up! You're doing great.
We WILL be back soon. read more
