RAMON'S TACOS HAS MOVED!!!!!! They are no longer in the parking lot of the El Campo Market on the side of 140. There is now a different (not nearly as good) truck in that spot. Ramon's is just about two blocks away, just a couple of turns down the road. The truck is actually still visible from the side of 140 if you look closely, but it is a little further from the road than it was before. Ramon's truck is now parked in what seems to be the driveway of Ramon's house. Maybe there was some sort of rent dispute with El Campo? (I don't know.) What I do know is that the best tacos in Planada, the greater Yosemite area, and the greater Central Valley are from Ramon's. So, having found this information in the comments on someone else's review, I recently headed out to Ramon's, and re-experienced the bliss. I ordered a carne asada burrito, and it was everything I'd been dreaming of and missing for months. The carne asada is so tender, so flavorful, and so on point. All grilled onions are good, but there is something extra special about these. The rice, the beans, the crema, all as fresh as can be. The value of the huge burrito with top tier ingredients for about $14 cannot be beat (unless you make it yourself and happen to be a pro). This is literally my favorite taco truck of all time outside of SoCal. If you are driving down the 140 to or from Yosemite, it is definitely worth the two block detour. Highest recommendations. Delicious food, just way overpriced. Paid $40 for 2 Quesadillas. Doesn't seem right to pay that much for good food, might as well go to a sit down restaurant for those prices. I want to preface the 4 start review saying the food was 5+++ stars. We happened upon this food truck on our way home on the 140. Kids were griping and hungry as we'd left too early for our normal stop. I saw the truck and hopped over to hang the left and make the stop. The menu isn't huge, it's focused clearly on what they do so well. I got a burrito - the ultimate to go, on-the-road food. Al Pastor supreme burrito was amazing. The first thing I noticed was how they put the burrito back on la plancha to crisp it up. Oooh, nothing better than a good tortilla, the smell that wafts up as you open the aluminum wrapper is pure goodness. Filled with pastor, super juicy and tender, rice, beans, tangy & spicy green salsa, crunchy onions and sour cream, this was a real treat. Every last bite was worth the drips that snuck through the wrapper... The tacos were so overloaded with meat! Both kiddos had asada tacos, and again the meat was tender, juicy, flavorful. The green salsa us just so darned good!! If I'd known I'd have asked for a cup to take with. The corn tortillas had good flavor enhanced by the time on the plancha and held together really well with the juicy tacos. Gal at the window was friendly and answered all our questions with a smile. Solid spot. It's my go-to when driving in to Yosemite and need something filling. They're right next to a teeny market and because of that they don't sell beverages. You got to go in the market for that. I guess that's the deal for parking their truck there- they help one another's business out. I've gotten a burrito, quesadillas, and tacos. I ordered an al pastor burrito. I'm not sure what they gave me but it was reminiscent of hamburger helper in flavor and texture. My husbands lengua burrito was flavorless. I understand al pastor flavor varies, but I expect some kind of flavor. If you didn't have pastor you should let the customer know, not fry up some nasty fatty salty meat. We only stopped here because we wanted food along 140 and needed enough space to park our truck and travel trailer. Now, this will be a stop anytime we come through this area again. I love everything about this taco truck. It brings everything that I remember from getting food on the street in Mexico, except of course from a truck. The portioning was huge (burritos) and despite getting a veggie burrito it was packed full. Grilled onions and a chile on the side...yum; I put it all inside my burrito along with salsa verde. I really shouldn't have eaten it all, but I did, and I loved it. It's all no frills and really cheap. Seating is at one picnic table under a shade tree. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the United States. Their food is consistently delicious and service is always friendly. Our favorite is the cabeza meat. We're from the Bay Area but I've lived in Pasadena, San Diego, Santa Barbara; I've also lived in Michoacan, Mexico. This is one of those places that really reminds me of being back in Mexico. If you've had Lily's tacos in Santa Barbara I'd say this food truck is comparable - really excellent food! read more

Wow, large fresh chicken burrito - good price, friendly service. What a find on the way to Yosemite!

On our way back home from Yosemite National Park, we decided to stop by this taco truck. They don't accept credit/debit cards and I was told by the lady who took my order to go next door and get cash back, which is not a big deal except that I got ripped off. Of course, I didn't find out until I checked my bank account but I can't blame this taco truck for that. Just beware if you have to go next door to the little market for cash back. The prices aren't great. They charge $2.50 per tacos and .75 for limes. I have never been to a taco truck that charges for limes or that much for street tacos. I had ordered for four people and we all did not like any of it. The beans were gray, the cheese was bad and the food was bland. None of us could finish it, it just wasn't good. Spontaneous visit with my friend because she was told word of mouth that this taco truck was really good.. well her friend was right! I got 6 tacos for $1.50 each. They were asada (beef), pastor (pork), and lengua (beef tongue). My favorite was the lengua -drooling-. However, the lengua was a little pricey and costed an extra 50¢. If you don't want to be extra and pay the 50¢, then I would recommend getting the cabeza (head). They are both tender and delicious, but the lengua was just a little more tender. I was expecting the tacos to be a bit greasy, but it was surprisingly not. Overall, they were delicious and I was not disappointed whatsoever. This is a family owned taco truck and they were extremely nice!!! Ramon was so generous with the grilled chili and onions. Ugh, I just can't get over how nice and welcoming they were. Holy crap! I'm so happy I encountered this food truck. It was by accident. My friends and I were on our way to Yosemite and had to take a bathroom break. There was a food truck that was selling tacos. I was a little skeptical to get a taco, but I didn't want to make an assumption that their tacos sucked. I got the al pastor taco at the price of 1.50 each. They give you a good portion of meat, Caramelized onions, lemon, and a slice of avocado!! It also came with a delicious green sauce. I got it and ended up just eating it in the car. I took one bite and it was amazing!! It had a crunchy texture and was full of flavor. I wished I got like 2 more tacos and a burrito! I wanted to go back, but we were on a tight time schedule D; my friends got some tacos too and wished they had gotten a burrito! I wish this food truck existed in SoCal! I looked online and it seems to only be located in Merced. I definitely will come back for tacos when I visit Yosemite again! read more

I unfortunately think they are over rated. I order Tacos al Pastor, but tasted nothing like it. Not the best tacos I ever had, though the price was good. To make matters worst, I had a bad experience from a Drunk men that was sitting on the establishment tables, outside the taco Truck. This men was first harassing a 12 years old girl, which my husband then prompted her to move away from. This happened while ordering the food. After that when I sat down to eat the drunk men was calling me out to come over. I first ignored him, but he still refused to stop. He them got up and walked towards me, and my husband had to get in the middle of the men and me to tell him to stop. The drunk men said he wanted to take me to his home. It was the scariest experience ever. This is something this establishment needs to look up after. Being harass by a drunk men is not what a customer wants to experience while eating tacos with the family. read more

Got recommended by a coworker and I couldn't thank him more!! I have a soft spot for family owned businesses and this taco truck really showcases what a hardworking family is all about. I believe most, if not all of the employees there are family members. They also work six days of the week and really try their best to serve the best food. Today was my first time trying it with a friend and we were greeted by their daughter. She had EXCEPTIONAL customer service and guided us through the menu. She gave us honest recommendations (what she thought was tasty and what she thought was pricey) as well as popular options. Very patient and good sense of humor. On top of that, her father (Ramon, I'm assuming is the owner LOL) is a very sweet man, and he made sure we got our grilled onions and jalepenos . ALSO, i didn't even have to ask for a bag and they kindly offered it to us. Okay so not enough words can describe the amazing service so onto the food. I don't eat taco trucks often because it tends to be quite greasy but no worries- Ramon's taco shop doesn't have overwhelming grease. I had the cabeza and lengua tacos, both very tender (lengua more tender) and lightly flavored. Very good tacos for the price of $1.50!!! They are served with delicious green salsa. I also got a carne asada/pastor burrito. I'm a very indecisive person and I want to try everything, so I really liked how we were able to mix up meats. Burritos are $6.50 and very well worth the price, it's probably more worth it than the tacos. It's HUGE and delicious! Downside was they gave too much beans but I'm not a big fan of beans so I'd probably skip it all together next time.
