While at Crow and Wolf tonight, my guy and I got a chance to try The Gastro Grill. After perusing their menu, we opted for the Hangover Sliders and Filet Mignon Tacos. Service was quick and friendly. It wasn't really busy yet, so our food came out fairly quick in about 15 minutes. Both the sliders and tacos were very good! The filet on the tacos was cooked nicely and had wonderful flavor. Even though the tacos were yummy, my favorite was the sliders. It was loaded with pulled pork, a fried egg (drool), bacon, and grilled jalapeños. All of the flavors on this slider just complimented each other so beautifully. We had a really great experience with The Gastro Grill. Some patrons will look at the price of their food and think it's overpriced, but this is a case of you get what you pay for. They make their food with quality ingredients and you can definitely tell if you give them a try! I will definitely be returning to try some of their other items on their menu. read more

Wait times can be long if it's a big event because this is gourmet food, but it's always worth it. The other day they brought their truck to Bitwise at lunch time. I ordered the black and blue sliders. OMG so good. Beef was moist, bun was buttered and held up to all the goodies inside. There was bleu cheese, micro greens, tomato "spread" (not sure exactly what it was but damn delicious) and like a slow roasted jam that added just the right amount of sweetness that set the whole thing off. It was one of those times you keep looking at tour food after every bit because you're marveling at the taste. Here's a truck that's not dumbing its food down because it's "just" a truck. It's also not guilty of overcomplicating things simply for the sake of appearing avant garde. I tried the shrimp tacos, filet mignon tacos, and sliders. Each dish was composed completely differently and with great consideration of flavors and textures. For example, the filet mignon was not overly seasoned, and the addition of peppery micro greens rounded out the flavor and gave a little crunch. The sliders weren't overpowered by too much blue cheese. The shrimp in the tacos had an amazing seer but weren't even close to being overcooked. I'm very impressed. read more

The dude and I came Tioga-Sequoia Brewer for date night on 12/19/19 and to see a band we had no idea what we would be walking into. Anywho, we got food at Gastro Grill Truck. There was two taco trucks in which I did not know what to pick. So the dude wanted Sliders which I can't eat because it's beef and I got the Al Pastor tacos. The food smelled so good! I could not wait to dive in. I tried the bacon and pulled pork which was good. The boyfriend really enjoyed his meal. My Al Pastor tacos were really tough. Like I couldn't chew half the meat. So it was more like a veggie taco. It was not flavorful at all and it was really sweet in certain parts. The meat did not taste like pork. I haven't taste beef in like 20 years and I was not sure what kind of meat I was eating. It looked like beef and I will be pretty pissed if it is as it should be noted. I mostly picked the meat out as I couldn't eat it. The boyfriend finished the rest of the tacos. The presentation was beautiful and the staff was friendly. They gave us free candy. Which was nice of them. Probably close to the most disappointing taco I've had in a while. Anywho, I do want to try more things on the menu but I have high standards when it comes to my tacos! 4.5 stars These lovely people had their food truck out at crow and wolf today. Had looked up their Instagram page before and the menu and food looked great. The food did not disappoint at all. We had the hangover sliders and filet tacos. The sliders are damn good. The beef was flavorful, the pulled pork was good enough that I'd eat it off a hospital floor. They have a fried egg and bacon on top as well. It made me wish I wasn't sharing because I really wanted the other one as well. The filet tacos were delish as well. Tortillas were warm and soft. The meat was tender. The veggies were a good compliment. I'd eat it again for sure. These folks got a good thing going for sure. Looking forward to trying the rest of the items while having a hangover slider with the new item. Side note. I see people complaining about price. They use really good ingredients which is evident when you taste their food. Good food isn't cheap. Also,pictures from a year ago shows how low the prices were before inflation. This is one crazy great food truck!!!! Went to Gazebo Gardens for brunch in Sunday. Esposa and friend went for egg nog bread pudding French toast. Great bacon and berries too. Unbelievably awesome!!! Being a carnivore, I felt compelled to get the Hangover Sliders. Lawd help me. Hamburger patty, pulled pork, bacon, fried egg, killer sauce, topped with a roasted jalapeño. And... Ok, I'm about a year late for this review, but in my defense, I wasn't an active yelper then. Debbie and Reyes catered my wedding last November. I elected for plated dinner over their food truck fair and they did not disappoint in the slightest. There's really no comparison with any other event caterer out there. The food is incredibly high quality, you get SO much of it, and the price per person is actually lower than most other places because they don't charge you a ton of fees for random things like not having enough people. Our wedding was only 55 people and there were some companies that wouldn't even talk to us. The rest had a fee for being less than 100 people. As for what you get, we got to choose 4 or 5 appetizers, and 2 main courses, with 2 sides plus salad and bread. And they brought enough for every guest to have one of everything, they didn't have to choose between lamb or salmon. Oh yeah, we had super premium meat and still didn't break the bank. Yes, food was our most expensive vendor after the venue, but it was worth it to have such an impressive meal to serve our guests. I wish I could say I stuffed my face but unfortunately, taking pictures kept me away from my plate for too long and I didn't get to finish it. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is that they are not the most organized business. It's a husband and wife team who have the food part of the business perfected. But the administrative side wasn't always clear cut and it could induce a lot of anxiety. However, that probably factors into the great price as well, so you just have to decide what your priority is. For us, it was delicious, gourmet food at a price we could afford since we were paying for it all ourselves. If you are having a wedding or event and are finding all these catering companies want way too much money for bland banquet food, then Chacon's is probably a great option for you. read more

I was super happy to be able to try 3 of their dishes from their food truck the other day: Black and Blue Burger Sliders, Filet Tacos, and Red Oak Pulled Pork Sliders. Out of the three, I loved the Black and Blue Burger Sliders the best even though they had blue cheese on it -I'm not a fan of blue cheese. I'm not a huge fan of pulled pork, but they did a good job making a tasty slider. Definitely thought the filet tacos were fish when I was thinking about ordering but was totally okay with the finding out it was filet mignon! The filet mignon itself was well seasoned, and I enjoyed the tacos once I removed the blue cheese. Super quick service, and really loved the potato buns for the sliders. The only reason I'm knocking down a star is that while the food was really tasty, it was super heavy and after a few bites I couldn't eat anymore (too rich for my tastes). If you know coming to the truck this is going to be rich food, then I'd totally say this food is for you. read more

Me and my boyfriend tried this truck yesterday at the River Park Farmers Market. They were 1/3 of the stops we made. But this place took the cake as out favorite truck by far. It was a little expensive. 9.75 for TWO tacos. I had gotten the drunken shrimp tacos for the same price. They told us we would be called when it was ready. A short 4 1/2 minutes later we were called to pick up our order. They tacos were beautiful. Nice and colorful with all the dressings. Now I normally go to wahoos when I want shrimp tacos. This place put a nice spin on their tacos. The blackened shrimp on the grill made it all the more presentable. Sauce was not spicy and shrimp were large and filling. More like prawns. Definitely not the small baby shrimp. My boyfriends vegan tacos were great as well. They were satisfying with them being only veggies they were filling. This is not your typical food truck, this is literally a 5 star restaurant on wheels. This simple looking truck might not look like much from the outside but man will they blow your taste buds to flavor town, big shout out to Chef Chacon. I must admit that for awhile I passed this truck up for another favored truck I had that set up next to them but man was I doing myself a disservice. I first tried their Smoke Red Oak vegetarian tacos and in my life had I had such a top tier taco with such flavorful, smoky vegetables. Every vegetable pairs so nicely with their Rosemary Aioli. I then tried their Smoked Vegan Hash that I had vegetarian style, the egg takes it to another level. I was hungry and the closest place to get food was the farmers market at Children's Hospital. I had been before and seen this food truck there but didn't try them out, but did remember the alluring aromas emanating from the truck. So, this time, I decided to drive the 5 minutes and try out GastroGrill. I wasn't sure what to choose, so the nice lady working the order window gave me a couple choices for my first time, and then I settled on the filet mignon tacos. I have been to my share of food trucks and have had many variations of the taco, but never tried a filet mignon taco. And come to think of it, I wonder why I've never tried it before. It's a great idea when you think about it. You have the most tender cut or beef topped with all of these fun toppings. I waited no more than 5 minutes, and they were ready. Served nice and hot, the colors of the micro greens and salsa popped brightly, but the best part was the amount of filet I was served. It had to be at least 3 oz per taco. That's 6 oz, after cooking. Go to any restaurant and offer filet and see how much it costs. $20 +++ . Their two taco price, $10.50. Not only were they sumptuous, juicy, and full of flavor, the tacos filled me up! Only rating three stars because the veggies were all brown (couldn't tell exactly what I was having like they were sitting in soy sauce or some type of strong colored sauce that colored all the veggies dark brown) veggies were hard/super crunchy as if they were not cooked and tortillas were as if they were warmed in a microwave. 5 hours after having the tacos I still have an Oregano taste In my mouth.. the pico de gallo salsa I asked for on the side also had a very potent Oregano taste.
