Quick 8 miles with my repaired rear wheel!
Jem T.

I vividly remember coming here as a kid since it's always been the local bike shop. Since Summer 2020, I started biking again and that became my primary form of workouts, especially during the pandemic. Paul and the rest of the team were always friendly and efficient with their service and advice. I've brought my Cinelli here twice and both times I received exceptional service. My most recent visit, Paul helped me as I just needed to get my rear wheel trued. His service was superb, had some small talk, and has earned my trust and loyalty to this shop. I'll be going here for any of my bike needs.

Best bike shop in the Bay. Kenn and his team always keep it solid! Even through all the pandemic madness I can always come to the shop and ask questions, get information on upcoming bikes etc. A lot of these other bike shops in the Bay been super rude and cocky lately with the customer service. After calling 4 different bike shops who told me it would be at least a month to get a simple install on the SE fast ripper. I came by Kenn's shop and got it done within two hours by Paul. I've got a few bikes here in the past. And will always try to spend my money here first

Tim, thank you!

Parked the whip right in front (parking Car-ma:-). The place is a buzz of activity. This local business is very tied and involved in the local community. Discounts for locals! It took a whole 30 seconds for the gent who helped me to find the right tool. The brother helping me explained the pedals were threaded opposite of normal. Which was very helpful once I got home and got busy. Making sure I wasn't tightening the darn thang it came if in 20 seconds.. darn it! I spent 45 minutes trying to get that sucka off prior! I was also hoping to get a rich City tee, but regretfully they were sold out. More coming in next week he said. Cool! I'll have a good excuse to peddle on over next week to get one!! Alameda Bicycle on Park Street is a part of the community, and I feel so honored to spend my money here. Gene, George and Crew are unmatched in the Bay Area. They sell mid-price range bikes, so no $300 bikes or $14,000 bikes. I bought my first new bike here after graduating from Cal, and got my first Wall Street bonus, moons ago. It was my dream bike, a black Cannondale, top of the line. After that, got married and had children and Gene saw me through training wheels through teenage years, then sadly through a divorce. Back in a bike and climbing mountains - loving life! Anyway, today, after trying all night to get my chain back on my new e-bike (not possible on the road) I walked in and George was at the door. He sensed my frustration and said, "Come on in." It wasn't an easy fix. But they worked on it, two guys 25 minutes, and 5 tools. Meanwhile, I walked into the showroom to check out the bikes (tee hee hee). Then I noticed a new coffee and tea station with a couch and chairs, and Madeline cookies. It's just what I needed after a frustrating night and morning trying to fix it myself. Such a mindful and kind touch. People easily complain, so positive heartfelt reviews are gold. Alameda Bicycle is a solid community member and business. Honest. If I don't need something, George will say, "You don't need that." Last time, I picked up some gorgeous Ortlieb panniers (which they installed) and a fix-a-flat for on the road flats. I forgot it on the counter -- it was here waiting for me when I returned a few weeks later. They only had my old digits! BTW, I didn't eat the last Madeline cookie. I saved it for you! Come and get it -- and remember to support these incredible bike angels. Super, super Good Vibes. The absolute best Alameda bicycle shop -- to me.

I was struggling to figure out how to use it, and the employee ended up helping me pump my bike tire. It's been years, but I still remember this kind gesture from one of their employees. It's hard to find parking around Park Street; it's convenient that they have four compact parking spots and one handicap accessible parking spot in their parking lot.

Rating: 5/5 Stars If you're heading to Sports Basement…read moreBerkeley to gear up for the season, do yourself a favor and ask for BRANDON C. I came in needing a full "head-to-toe" setup for winter sports, and Brandon provided the kind of elite, professional service that is rare to find. His technical knowledge of snowboards, skis, and bindings is extensive; he doesn't just know the specs, he understands how the gear actually performs on the mountain. What really stood out, however, was his approach. He took the time to listen to my specific needs and concerns, making me feel both seen and heard throughout the process. I walked out (after 2.5 hours that flew by) not only with the right equipment but with the confidence I needed to get back out there. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner, I'd recommend Brandon C. to anyone. He's a true professional who knows his craft inside and out. Thank you again Brandon C and SB and NIN.

My biggest issue here is no longer the exchange itself -- it is the people representing your…read morecompany at the counter. The reality is that rude, dismissive customer service drives people away. Customers can tolerate mistakes. Customers can tolerate policy issues. What people do not tolerate is being treated as though they are an inconvenience when they walk into a store prepared to spend money. I spent nearly 50 minutes looking for replacement shoes after following the instructions given by your staff. I returned to the counter and was met with an attitude that made the entire experience feel unnecessarily unpleasant. That kind of interaction leaves a much bigger impression than any return policy ever could. You should seriously consider the long-term impact of allowing employees to interact with customers in this way. One negative interaction may seem small in the moment, but over time those experiences absolutely cost business. People remember how they were treated. I can say with certainty that experiences like this make customers question where they want to spend their money in the future. If I have to choose between dealing with rude and dismissive interactions versus shopping somewhere that values customer service and basic professionalism, the decision becomes very easy. I think your management team should understand that poor customer interactions do not simply create one unhappy customer -- they create people who share those experiences with family, friends, coworkers, and others making decisions about where to shop.
