This is my second Ebike Doug has converted for me I had…read moreDoug convert a recumbent trike about 4 years ago I needed a new bike as my needs have changed I looked at many pre-made Ebikes but none had everything I needed and I was not overly impressed many pre-built Ebike's had cut corners some on there battery packs some on frames or just cheaper equipment . So to get a bike that would work for me I had to shop for bikes I found a specialized bike right for my needs that was very well made and by having Doug do the conversion I ended up saving about 400 bucks over any comparable pre-made Ebike that I had been researching also I ended up with a better Ebike I was able to add all the bells and whistles for less money. The Ebikes I was researching to buy the price points were between 1500 to 2600 bucks I ended up paying a little over 2100 total for bike and conversion and is a nicer bike then any of the pre-built Ebikes offered at the 2600 price point. Advice I would give to any one planing to convert a bike convert a quality bike that fits your riding needs don't convert a bike that is a cheap make that will fall apart the motors have a lot of power a cheap bike will fly apart, also don't over pay for a bike as the motor and battery is heavy and it will run the same on a 400 dollar bike just as well as a 4000 dollar bike so look more at breaks suspension and your comfort go for what fits your needs. Things I learned from my first conversion I had the throttle with cruise control only no monitor, pay the extra money get the monitor display also get the pedal assist it still has a throttle over ride but the assist is a big thing I did not think so when I had my trike at the time thought the cruse control worked about the same its not, it saved me about 150 bucks if I would have know then what I know now I would have payed for the assist and monitor its worth the money.

Even though he had a very busy schedule, Billy was kind enough to take it in and see what he could do. He called me back just a couple of hours later to let me know the bike was ready. He was able to get the rear derailleur shifting perfectly. While there was an issue with the front derailleur that required a part he didn't have in stock, he was incredibly transparent and honest about it. He even saved me from needing the highest gear since I mostly use the bike to haul my kids around. When I went to pick it up, I was shocked that he didn't charge me anything because he felt he hadn't fully resolved the front derailleur issue. I really appreciate the time he spent working on it and his honest approach to service. It's rare to find someone so hardworking and fair. I highly recommend bringing your bike to Billy at Fairfield Bicycles--he clearly cares about getting people back on the road!
