Ordered for my family of four on GrubHub. Waited 20 minutes... Got a message that my order was canceled. Called the restaurant. They said they didn't cancel my order. Talked to GrubHub... They told me that the restaurant had canceled. I reordered thinking it was a mistake. Same thing. Called the restaurant again. Manager told me that they didn't cancel my order then hung up on me. Have ordered delivered food a lot from them since covid hit. The food over all is pretty good as are the prices. However, they only got a simple requested substitution right once out of 5 times. My first time here. Was not busy at all and they forgot they set me. I had to move up front to order (should of left). Had to ask for water twice, oh had to find the server and hostess. Ordered a deluxe burrito and was small and all the extras was left off. I had to ask for it..ugh. It started to pick up business. From a vegan point of view, the vegetarian enchiladas without cheese were WONDERFUL. great mix of veggies inside like zucchini, spinach, mushrooms. Just delicious. The tortilla chips and salsa were mediocre, so I'm deducting a star for that. They had a few other vegan options like fajitas, tacos, guacamole tostadas, etc. So for a small chain, this place is pretty gold. Give it a try. read more

Delicious! We ordered delivery last night. I got the enchiladas divorciadas. Yum! Two enchiladas, one with tomatillo sauce, the other with cheese, separated by black beans and rice. The chicken was abundant. My only complaint is the beans were too salty for my liking. I literally mad two meals out of this plate. The Burrito Supreme looked (and reportedly tasted) awesome. Every time we have driven by the parking lot was full. Stopped in mid day Saturday, and see why the lot is always full. We received wonderful service both from our host and waitress. To top it off our family had great filling meals. Wife had the tamale special while I enjoyed the cheese covered borrito. Unfortunately, we felt scammed when we ordered 2 medium house margaritas and they billed us for 2 grande margaritas at $16.95 each, more than our entrees. The house margaritas were pretty good but there is NO happy hour on Fridays! Usually I am much better about doing my due diligence before visiting a place. Monday-Thursday until 6:30 and all day on Saturdays. The nachos aren't good. Skip. The salsa is nice and spicy but only the first round of chips and salsa is free. (I know, seriously??) Excellent colorado mexican cuisine, in a comfortable, festive space. A little spicier than similar restaurants in the south suburban area, but you can ask them to modulate the spice to your taste. To me, the enchiladas plate with rice and beans was just right as it was. A side of sour cream balances the red peppers nicely. The horchata hit the spot too. Appreaciate it, locals -- this kind of food has unique character that distinguishes it from what you would find in the rest of the southwest and california. read more

Senor Sol has become less than delicious. Years ago, it was a place for me. Not anymore. I ordered a guacamole tostada. There was a thin layer of gray guacamole. It was toppled with lettuce and cheese. So, I hardly had any guacamole. But that is ok, the guacamole was tasteless. So what you get is a SLAB of older lettuce and cheese. The Sopapillas were even worse. I don't use honey, and there was no sugar at the table. Sopapillas were tasteless also. I even had to spit out a wad of dough. Not good. I can make much better sopapillas. Why can't restaurants put on the table some napkins? read more

We have frequently dined at this restaurant and watched the service steadily decline but tonight's dinner was a new low- after an hour of waiting we were told their system glitched and they needed our order again- no apology, just "what did you order"... to make matters worse the food that eventually did come was cold- I am talking cheese enchiladas that still had visible unmelted shredded cheese inside them cold- they got one of the orders totally wrong to boot. Not once did we get an apology for the massive delay or the fact that the food needed to go back. Additionally, When the bill came not one thing was taken off and the side of avocado we ordered (we received about 1/4 of an avocado) was almost $7! We have always gotten past the bad fluorescent lighting and overly loud music but after tonight I don't know if we will ever return! read more

We ordered ground beef burritos and a kids quesadilla for pick up. The restaurant is less than 2 miles from home - the food was cold and there was water pooled in the bottom of the aluminum carry out dishes making the tortilla soggy and inedible. The kids quesadilla came with retried beans and rice - the styrofoam container was not separated so the quesadilla was covered in beans - needless to say the food was inedible. Such a wast of mone. I'd have had better food from Taco Bell. read more

Terrible experience. We have been going to this (average at best) restaurant for years. Honestly, we've spent at least $4,000 in this dive over 5 years. This evening finally broke the bank. Ordered a house marg-- 2 for 1 on happy hour. Not a bad deal at all. Ordered food. Got the Marg. Got our food about 15 minutes later. Pretty slow with only a half a dozen tables. My wife ordered two tostadas. Got a tostado plate; didn't want it all, but what the heck. My carnitas burrito was as expected; basically OK. Ordered marg # dos. Then we got the bill. Got charged for 2 top shelf margaritas. $22 vs the $7 expected. Proceeded to argue with the manager for 5 minutes over what I ordered vs what they brought. Finally he disgustedly agreed to house margs, but "NO Happy Hour!!!" His emphasis, not mine. Long story short. Just traded $3 worth of liquor for $1000s in revenue. We enjoy getting carry out from local restaurants during these trying times, and last Wednesday my wife decided on El Senor Sol for her birthday. We have enjoyed their food many times before. After we got the food home we noticed my chimichanga was missing ($15). We didn't have time to go back to get the missing entree so I called to get a refund. The hostess told me that only the owner can give a refund and he was not there (???). The hostess asked me to give her my #, and she assured me that the owner would call me back. Low and behold.....3 days later no call and no credit. I understand forgetting the chimichanga...not a big deal. I absolutely do not understand the lack of professionalism in not rectifying the issue....especially when local mom and pop restaurants cannot afford to lose any customers. We ate here a couple months ago and I would have given it 5 stars then. We went back a week ago and had a completely different experience! The meals were lacking...seafood enchiladas had very little sauce. Green chili was bland. The real deal breaker was the price of the margaritas. We ordered 2 large margaritas. They were over $19.00 EACH!!! We paid $38.40 for 2 flippin' margaritas!!!! No where in the restaurant were the prices listed - or we certainly wouldn't have ordered them. I work in the industry and I have had a positive experience here so I refuse to leave less than four stars. But I hope someone from the restaurant actually reads these. 1, some white people speak Spanish so be careful. 2, the food the second time was not fried... like... at all. I had a raw tortilla with stringy chicken in my flautas. The first time I ordered them they were PERFECT! and both times were to go, so I know it wasn't the condensation from the lid. I ordered an hour before close and I understand that it's Covid and you're doing the best you can but like... I threw away the flautas that were fried in the oil you had clearly already turned off. I know profit counts, but why stay open and eat the labor cost of the six employees I saw an hour before close if they have already closed the kitchen and serve half cooked meals? read more

We have been regular customers of this restaurant for the past several years and have always enjoyed both the food and service. We heard there was a change of ownership, then we learned our favorite waitress, Darla, had been terminated. She had been there for many years and always served our table. Now we understand that staff changes happen, but she had an ability to create a very pleasant dining experience. We have also noted the recipes for the meals we have ordered have changed. As an example, my favorite chicken dish used the be made with a chicken breast. Now it is made with small chunks of chicken and it is not nearly as tasty. So...just learned that our favorite restaurant has been sold, BUT will be keeping the name "El Senor Sol." It is my understanding that Jorge has been retained but NOT Darla, who IS El Senor Sol at this location (University/Arapahoe). Not having Darla there is a HUUUUUUUUUUGE mistake. Darla made everyone who came through those doors feel special, as if she'd known you for years. I have been going to this restaurant (which is a favorite in our neighborhood) since it opened. It's absolutely wonderful. If the owner knows what is good for the restaurant, he will be sure to keep Darla. SouthGlenn LOVES our Darla.
