If you are ever hungry in Bertram......pass on by to the next town. El Rancho is trash. Sat for more than 10 minutes without being acknowledged by two servers who looked directly at me. The third time the server looked at me I raised my hand and she looked away. I got up to leave at that point and turned to see if they were going to try and stop me from leaving and they did not. I left but forgot my keys on the table and had to go back in. Did they try to stop me then and take my money??? Nope. I have eaten here a couple times before and the food is marginal and the place is nasty so I won't be back. read more

My husband, daughter, and I love the Combo Breakfast Burrito! It is amazingly good. And humongous! While my hubby can eat a whole one, my daughter and I will sometimes split one or save the second half for lunch. It is now becoming a weekly tradition to phone in an order on the weekend and pick up in the drivethru. We do sometimes dine in and everything I've tried has been very good. The service is very friendly. We've only had one incident where they over charged the tip $20 but as soon as we brought it to their attention they reimbursed us. But, we've learned that that happens at restaurants sometimes and have learned to double check our bank statements. Overall, we've always had a great experience here! read more

I am giving them 2 stars, because the food was not bad. Not terribly good, but not bad. However, they over-charged me TWICE. Our total should have been right at $18 (for 2 people), but first they charged us $36, and when we went back to get our money back, they only gave us $13 back. It wasn't a lot of money, but I just had the feeling I was probably not the first one to be overcharged. I am not sure if this is due to poor math skills or an intent to do wrong, but either way - that is just not how a business should be run. So I wouldn't say not to go, if you want decent, cheap Mexican food, by all means, great place, but just go to the counter with your total in your head so you know what to pay! read more

in my humble opinion, DO NOT EAT HERE. It's the only Mexican restaurant in town and only 1 of 3 total restaurants, but the poor service and quality of food make the 10 minute drive to the next town to eat completely worth it. This is the only review I've ever given on yelp but felt it my duty to warn potential customers of my experiences. Last Monday my family went into an almost empty El Rancho and after giving our drink orders waited close to 10 minutes before inquiring when we were to receive our drinks, to a waitress who barely took the time to stop socializing with her fellow waitress and had clearly forgotten our order. Then after ordering our meals ( a kids chicken nuggets, taco plate and soup) we waited 20 minutes, 10 more minutes than it has ever taken during our previous trips here when there were actually a lot of customers, and ended up not getting the soup. When I asked about the soup I was told they do not serve that kind, even though I have ordered it 2 separate times in the past 4 months, and had to order a completely different meal which took another 10 minutes to receive all while my husband and son already had their food... and for the mere fact that the waitress hadn't bothered to let me know they were unable to make my soup. I understand mistakes happen and service isn't always great but what is not ok is the complete lack of concern for the customers or any kind of apology or attempt to make things right when such obvious errors occur. DO NOT DO DRIVE THROUGH!!! They can not seem to get our order right at all lately. We regularly have to wait 10 minutes for them to even come to window then 30 to 45 minutes just to get our food. If you do not see them write down your order; chances are it'll be wrong. Of course chances are if they do right it down it will still be wrong. I would hate to see what happens with a larger order with how much they mess up with just the two of us. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. read more

It's not too often in let down by Yelp but the 4 1/2 star rating was grossly generous. When we got there we set for somewhere around 4-5 minutes before we were greeted, even though there was a lady "busy" laying menus everywhere. Get the menus, place our order. Go to use the restroom and no soap in the dispenser, was like pumped dry so I'm pretty sure it didn't just run out. I let me waiter know and he looks at a female coworker and asks her in Spanish if the soap was out in the men's room(guess it was her job even though he was the only male). She just shrugs and it was apparent that neither cared. So twenty minutes after ordering, our "food" finally arrives. The Al Pastor was the worst I've ever tasted and borderline the worst pork I've ever put in my mouth. Burnt and shitty. The fajita was way over done and chewy. The Picadillo was runny/wet and made for a soggy mess. My sons plate wasn't any better looking. Overall just was not good food or experience. read more
