Wow, the warm fresh chips and salsa was so delicious. The meals were so perfectly prepared and the service was amazing. It's nice to have authentic Mexican cuisine here in Inverness, Florida. I am sorry that I did not include the desserts in my picture. The fried ice cream and flan was so good I gobbled it down before I realized it. The place was not too crowded for a late afternoon and it was very nice to have a conversation with my wife and we could hear each other. Staying in the area over night for business and this was recommended to me at the hotel. Salsa was amazing, definitely made in house. Also had a side of cheese dip to go with my chips as I waited for my entree. Ordered a house sangria that did not disappoint! My meal was the burrito grande and boy was it grande! Filled with steak, cheese, rice, beans and peppers. Covered in sauce and cheese, it was amazing!! Seasoned perfectly I was very happy with my choice. Service was spot on, attentive even during a busy dinner time. Small place but usually those are the hidden gems and this place definitely is! I went for a quick takeout, service was pretty quick all things considered, but when I got home I realized a trip to Taco Bell would've been just good (maybe better) and just as 'authentic'. Lots of sauce.. tons of it.. ok, too much of it.. but not much substance. The 'beef' was like watered down Hamburger Helper if that makes sense; kinda like leftover crumbs of beef. I'm guessing they survive because the restaurants in the area are pretty sparse. However, Mexican food is about the easiest 'cuisine' to concoct, so stepping it up from 'better than starving' to 'glad we came here' wouldn't be a huge leap in effort nor quality of ingredients. *1star at first - Haven't tried the food yet, but served me sour horchata. Smells like sour milk, at first didn't really taste like it, but after the next couple sips it was sour(improper storage). Paid $9 for it to go in garbage. Worried about eating the food if the horchata is already the first spoiled thing I had. **4star on the food. The food was exactly what I was wanting. Really great service when we rolled in with 4 kids who had been cooped up traveling all day. The salsa was great and not stingy with chips. Kids loved their quesadillas, rice and beans. Let me switch one kids for fries so that was a hit for him. I had an enchilada which needed sauce and I didn't love the American cheese flavor the cheese was giving but I think k I just ordered the wrong thing. Would return to try something else. read more

El Ranchito was delicious normally I'll get the Plato Rancho Ra Ranchito Pillito and it's pretty good and sometimes I get tacos burritos chi Chunga. Most of the food is spaced just straight it's not too hot though. If you go ahead make sure you try the tamales if they're fresh they're delicious. They do have vegetarian fair you'll enjoy it. The chicken fajitas are one of the best around if you're in the Inverness area. So my advice is eat at El Ranchito. Fear none, love all and eat well. read more

Marco was a great server. He was quick, friendly and got the job done well. Food was pretty good. My meal didn't have much flavor, it was a bit bland, and there was no Mexican style hot sauce on the table to fix it up. My husband's was great, tho. Our appetizer, quesadillas, were great. We was back at tires Plus and had an hour to kill so here we are at the Mexican restaurant. We walked through the door and was greeted by a server instantly. It's open seating so sit where you want. They brought us salsa and warm chips and got our drink orders. The salsa was very tasty but I like a bit more heat I understand there making it for everyone and not just me. My wife had the #25 what ever you call it. She enjoyed it but I had the shrimp a la Diablo and she could not stay out of my plate lol. So I'm guessing mine was better than hers. The shrimp are very spicy and just right down tasty. They had my hair sweating. There rice was average but the refried beans are the bomb diggity. The service was very good. As a Mexican food lover, it truly saddens to me to leave just two stars for any Mexican restaurant. I'm really hoping maybe El Ranchito was just having a bad night? I'm not from the area, just in town for the weekend, and NEEDED tacos (like any other day). I popped into El Ranchito and it was bustlin'. After a short wait to be acknowledged, I was sat and given chips and salsa. No menu, no napkins, no silverware, no drink. This is where it all started, and it was only down hill from here. To my surprise, the salsa really sucked. It appeared to be your usual Mexican joint salsa, but with extra big chunks of onion. And you could really taste the onion. Maybe some of you are into it, but I'm not. Unfortunately, I didn't have a drink yet to wash down the flavor. I was HANGRY, so I munched on some plain chips and observed the surroundings. They were decently busy, not quite full, but the wait staff seemed to be a bit frazzled. Maybe someone called in sick? Maybe they were all new? After quite awhile, someone stopped by and asked if I had been taken care of. I said no, and requested a water, a menu, and cheese dip. The menu left much to be desired. The selections was quite a bit thinner than other restaurants, and the prices a little bit higher. While all the usual items were there, the different combinations of meals were lacking. There was not even a meal for two tacos, rice and beans. I settled for a combination dinner that included a burrito, rice and beans for $8.75. My cheese dip, $4.75, came soon after I placed my dinner order. The queso was decent, and probably the main contribution to my dinner. To my surprise, my dinner came VERY quickly. The waitress struggled to set it down, a bit awkwardly, I assumed the plate was hot. Nope- the food was straight up room temperature/cold. How. Is. That. Even. Possible? I can eat room temperature beans so I quickly scarfed those down. I dabbled in the rice, but it reminded me more of Asian rice, with corn, carrots, and other veggies mixed in. Not your usual Mexican rice, and not what I wanted. Next, I cut into my chicken burrito, which was an acceptable temperature. The flavor really threw me off. Something savory, but something sweet? No spice. I ultimately dissected that bad boy, because I couldn't figure out where the sweet was coming from (the red sauce? the tortilla?), and went straight for the chicken. Another disappointment. It tasted more like chicken that had been in a crock pot with a "fajita" flavor packet from Publix than chicken from a Mexican restaurant's burrito. I had a few bites, but it was just NOT the flavor I was hoping for. I picked at my chips and queso and waited for my check for another while. During this time, I continued to observe the wait staff and (possibly?) the owner continue to truly work hard and try their best. I hate to say the service was lacking because I could tell it wasn't because they were being lazy. At the very end, I left full, but not satisfied. If you are considering El Ranchito, also consider going at a slower time, and steer clear of the chicken. El Ranchito: A for effort, but 2 Stars for execution. read more

Went here on vacation and i would recommend this place to anyone that loves Mexican. The queso and salsa were VERY good and they had hot fresh chips. My mom got the crunchy enchiladas and she it was very good especially the black beans. My finance got K combination that came with a chalupa, burrito, taco, and enchilada and he LOVED it. I just got the plain tacos and they had blue cheese for me to put on them. Cute little place with nice people. read more
