I've been very pleased with the consistency since I've been coming to this location. A good management team and friendly crew here. I am very very very excited to know that they are opening a location in Colorado Springs! The sooner the better, so that I never have to drive up there again in that crazy road rage traffic, but in the meantime, I'm just very pleased that I've seen such consistency for all this time. Worth the hour plus drive for me. I have seen other reviews that talk about the portion size of the chicken. As a SoCal native who started eating in the first location when they opened in downtown LA, I definitely agree. I grew up being able to eat a two piece meal and now anything less than a three-piece leaves me hungry. Today, what I wasn't pleased with is that I ordered the mango habanero salsa on the side because the last couple times they have totally drenched the chicken and made it unappealing for the food that I brought home and it gave the chicken a weird aftertaste. I thought I was being smart by asking for it on the side, however they charged me two dollars extra for a small side of it. I'm ordering a 16 piece meal and they are charging me two dollars for some extra Barbecue sauce? Not cool. read more

Food is consistent as far as quality goes. But the service is bumby. Recently I ordered an 8 pc meal for 3 people. This was $33. A bit pricey but the real kicker is when it comes to salsa. First off there used to be salsa bars for customers to get their own. But now that they don't they act very stingy about it. The salsa comes in small medicine cups, and when you ask for an amount of 9 salsas (because the cups are so small and multiple people are eating this meal) all of a sudden we have issues. They wanted to charge me for a large cup but like I said how is it fair when I just spent over $30 to charge me more. Wish you all could back to the way of before when the salsa bar existed and customers could get their own stuff. We went back because the double chicken tostada we just had was great. El Pollo Loco magic. Our return visit wasn't successful. This place is inconsistent unless you visit at a time when a competent person would work. They have a great product to offer but the Colorado outposts are widely inconsistent on execution. Pretty decent for fast food. Meat is juicy. Rice, corn, cole slaw and chicken wrapped in tortilla makes a quick easy meal. Would recommend if you don't feel like cooking or don't have the time to cook and need to feed a few people. read more

Too Long; Did not Read El Pollo Promedio Nothing crazy here We decided to make the trek over to the latest SoCal staple to open in the Front Range. Their online ordering offers set pickup times, so we gave ourselves about 30 minutes. I walked in at 6:27 and took in the room. The massive array of chickens laid out cooking behind the counter blew my mind. The dining room was clean and our food was ready at exactly 6:30, as ordered. So far, so good. Now, on to the food. POZOLE was the clear winner tonight, offering a smidgeon of heat & plenty of chicken. It would be better with more pozole though. CHICKEN was marginal, mids. While the skin had some flavor, the white meat was dry and the leg in both our dinners was laughably Lilliputian (see photo below). Disappointing. MASHED POTATOES were instant SLAW was surprisingly tasty MAC & CHEESE has potential, but the cheese sauce lacks depth and thickness. CHURROS? We have no idea. They were ordered, but not in the bag. The best grilled chicken on the planet!!! The staff is very friendly every time I come in. I live over an hour away but if I'm ever in Denver I stop in EVERY time. I accidentally left my iPad here and thought it was gone for good but they found it and kept it safe. If you haven't had El Pollo Loco you are missing out!!! The El Pollo Loco location on Peoria in Denver is amazing! As a native Californian having this chicken option in Colorado is fabulous! The dining room is very clean and bright! The staff is friendly and the chicken cooking on the grill will make your mouth water. We ordered a 12 piece family meal, with a salad, rice and beans for the sides rounding it out with a mix of flour and corn tortillas. The chicken was grilled to perfection with the perfect citrus taste! Try this place out for your grilled chicken desires. They also offer bowls, burritos, tacos, quesadillas that are better than Chipotle and Qdoba by a long shot and at more reasonable prices too! read more

I came here for lunch one day and everything went good. There was a little language barrier, but luckily employee at the front counter was able to understand my limited and broken Spanglish. The food was fresh and tasty and quickly prepared. It was interesting to see a grill that was the length of the whole kitchen filled full of chicken. It pains me to write this review as a socal girl I grew up eating El Pollo Loco but this new location definitely has some growing pains. I ordered delivery as well I have a new baby and wasn't about to drive like an hour round trip with an infant that hates the car and what I got was lackluster to say the least. I ordered two meals to meet a minimum for a discount as anyone that has eaten El pollo loco knows it makes for great leftovers and there was a bit of a struggle in what was received. Each meal was supposed to come with its own bag of chips. There was one bag with a total of 6 chips in there lol (see photo for details) honestly I could care less about the chips but after the salsa debacle I feel like it should be mentioned. So for two 4 piece chicken meals and 6 chips* guess how many salsas came with the order....3...THREE tiny little salsas. What???? That is like an appropriate amount for literally only the 6 chips. Any El Pollo Loco pro knows that the salsa is literally what makes your meal from there any good. Eating El Pollo Loco without salsa is eating cereal without milk??? You just don't do it. And it wasn't for lack of trying. I requested 10 regular salsas and like 6 green salsas because I honestly feel like that is a totally appropriate amount to request for two 4 piece meals and literally got 0 Green and 3 regular. Just a damn shame. I am honestly hesitant to go back here which makes me incredibly sad as this was like THE main thing I was craving while pregnant. Like I really love El Pollo Loco, it reminds me of my childhood and is fairly healthy all things considered but there's just no point with the measly amount of salsa they give you. Maybe if I'm in the area I will stop in and ensure I get the proper amounts but no way would I ever order delivery from them again. Anyways there you have it. It's been years since I was at an El Pollo Loco, glad to see they are back in the Denver area. The staff was incredible! The chicken, well I was underwhelmed. It was a little in the small side, I got the 4 piece Char Grilled Chicken, the wing? Lol. Just a nibble of meat. Should have stuck with the 3 piece and ask for no wing. The flavor was spot on, but I remember, the chicken was always moist. This was very dry. I'm sure I'll be back for another attempt, but I'm in no rush. read more

First time at this location, been to pollo loco in LA. Love the char-grilled chicken. The skin is so crispy and well season. Would come back to get the chicken again! I had an 8 pieces (legs and thighs) with large mash potatoes and corn. The sauce is my fav the avocado sauce . There are parking however it's a bit tight. A drive thru is an options for people who does not want to eat there. read more

I love El pollo Loco. It's one of my favorite fast food spots and probably has the best chicken in my opinion. I think this location is pretty good but I think it can do better with the speed, efficiency, and consistency. I think they've messed up my order once and also at times the chicken seemed a bit over cooked. I do think though overall the chicken is tasty and the sides are delicious. Worst food I've ever had from a fast food restaurant in Denver! Ordered an 8 piece chicken dinner with 3 sides from the drive thru. I should have known better to choose this restaurant because it was after 1130 and no one else was in the drive through but I was looking forward to it since this was my first time. I got home and discovered that the chicken was noticeably old chicken. I should have took a picture. It was old and dry as if it was yesterday's chicken or older. I don't know. I should have taken it back but I don't live close to this particular place. The pinto beans tasted like it came from a can and the Mac and cheese was extremely overcooked. The macaroni fell apart upon stirring also tasted like it came out of a can. Corn Tortillas were not in any way better than what you could buy in a package from Walmart. I in no way can recommend this place. I felt taken advantage of. I gave the chicken, macaroni and cheese to my dogs. At least the pinto beans are salvageable. I do not recommend and will not be going back. Hopefully others have a better experience but ours was disappointing. read more

Looking for a Negative Star, this is very disappointing, I work very close to this location and work nights BUT I have disappointed so many times that I finally have to leave a review. Not sure what the problem is BUT if u go there a Hour or closer to closing time u will be very disappointed. They close at 11 and last week I went there at 10:20 and they were out of Chicken, I'm like your name is El Pollo Locco, how can u be out of Chicken. Just put some more on the grill and take care of your customers. The chicken was extremely dry and nothing like the California locations I have been to with my husband. The order was very hard because no-one spoke English. They gave me the wrong change back but I corrected her and gave back them money. The restaurant was kinda dirty and I was impressed I wont be back anytime soon. This is an excellent fast food Mexican restaurant. This place uses fresh rotisserie chicken in their dishes. This place reminds me of a delicious chain of fast food restaurants in Florida (Pollo Tropical) that uses the same kind of chicken with Caribbean cuisine. I have ordered their burritos, tacos, quesadilla, and tortilla soup with their delicious chicken. I really like how many of the items include fresh sliced avocado. I enjoy the burritos here more than the ones at Chipotle. The service is professional. The ambience is exceptionally clean and modern. Service is always good I always seem to get who seems to be the shift manager and she's always on point, from her genuine kindness and great customer service skills it comes as natural I know these are just jobs but when you interact with ppl like her the experience alone makes you come back the food has never missed one thing I may just have to ask but if I could request my chicken be cooked extra well done (personal preference) it's pretty juicy and the sides that I've tried on point as well but I'm going to have to try the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes next time the ambiance is chill dim lighting in the evening I've only dined in twice so far once at lunch from work on the grand opening and once solo dolo for dinner I have had the original in California years ago before the glo up and also while living in Vegas tho Vegas did cook mine to my expectations without request was just top tier so when I ask if I can get it extra well done I will come back and drop that fifth star they do get busy at times so be patient I've always got a little something extra for being patient from one the other day shift managers I forget his name but you ever have a little longer wait time you'll know who he is he asks his customers seated how they're doing and how's there food and makes sure the customer is satisfied I think sometime ppl may come here already having a bad day a leads to some the experiences that y'all may see in the reviews I'd say have your own and let the food speak for itself. read more
