This place is a must try! I have been in Denver a very long time and had heard about El Toro from many people. Recently a friend of mine and I stopped in after a walk through Central Park. What I found was a real treat! My friend had them put an egg in his tacos along with the meat. We both also had hashbrown potatoes topped with green chile. So good. They have hot, mild, and half and half. My favorite food is fried beef tacos and I'm constantly searching for more options. This place has made it to the top of my list! There's a time and place for the basic store-bought crunchy taco shells, but pure magic happens with a freshly fried taco shell. My other favorite place is closed on Mondays, which gave me an opportunity to try someplace new and I'm so glad I did. It was also awesome that they packed up the to-go tacos with the veggies on the side so the beautifully crispy shell doesn't get soggy. I asked our server if there was any way I could still get a breakfast burrito, and she was so sweet. Instead of just saying no, she actually went back to the kitchen and asked, and they agreed to make one for me, even if it meant leaving out a few ingredients. That kind of effort meant a lot, and I was so grateful they went out of their way to accommodate me. When the food came out, I was blown away. My breakfast burrito was honestly the best I've had in Denver, and that's saying something. If it tasted that good without all the usual ingredients, I can only imagine how amazing it must be if I come back during breakfast hours and get the full version. I also tried a bite of my partner's fried tacos, and they were incredible. Honestly, they deserve to be way more popular than they are. We tried El Toro as an alternative to driving downtown to Mexico City. Music was super loud but food was pretty good and waitress was nice. The bill seemed pretty high but we all pitched in and added a good tip and went our way. I wanted to make sure I pitched in enough so calculated the total at home. Our bill at the restaurant came to just under $150 when it should have been closer to $125. I hope it was an honest mistake, but it was a pretty big error as we ended up leaving $175. I didn't see anywhere on the menu that said they automatically added gratuity (we had a group of 4 adults and 2 kids). Bummer. read more

The welcoming staff of cute Hispanic gals great you to your table and with an easy menu to order you get right to it. But mainly get tacos and menudo. Maybe a combo plate to try a little of everything. You want be disappointed. Add a pitcher or red beers and your set. They will offer extra napkins and you will need them lol. When ever I get back into Denver from traveling around the world. I love finding little whole in the wall family owned places like this. This place has been around longer than I've been alive. I found El Toro and went with tacos because I thought it was the safe choice, but I quickly found that these were unlike any I've ever had. The tortilla was made of fried goodness. The beef was mouth watering. The fresh avocado was picture perfect. The hotsauce was so spicy and good, it made me want to slap yo momma. The ladies running the place were friendly and joked around with me. Apparently their tap water is much better than that city stuff I've been drinking my entire life.
