This place is a must try! I have been in Denver a very long time and had heard about El Toro from many people. Recently a friend of mine and I stopped in after a walk through Central Park. What I found was a real treat! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is not a new place and the building reflects it. but what it lacks in newness is mad up by the ambiance and food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a small little bar as you walk in that is fully stocked with liquor and beer. We both ordered crispy tacos and it was obvious that everything was made in house. The tortillas were fried there so they were nice and crispy. My friend had them put an egg in his tacos along with the meat. We both also had hashbrown potatoes topped with green chile. So good. They have hot, mild, and half and half. I don't know why it took me so long to find this place but I am glad I did. I already have plans to go back with my wife to eat again.

My favorite food is fried beef tacos and I'm constantly searching for more options. This place has made it to the top of my list! There's a time and place for the basic store-bought crunchy taco shells, but pure magic happens with a freshly fried taco shell. My other favorite place is closed on Mondays, which gave me an opportunity to try someplace new and I'm so glad I did. It was also awesome that they packed up the to-go tacos with the veggies on the side so the beautifully crispy shell doesn't get soggy. I'm in heaven - thrilled to have found this gem and will definitely be a repeat customer.

Meeting up with an ex co-worker. I love fried tacos and we decided to come here. I thought they were closing but were happy to find out that under new ownership the restaurant will go on. Their steak tacos are delicious. The service is friendly and attentive. The building and decor are not fancy. But I have always favored delicious food over atmosphere. Please support this local business which has remarkably tasty food. Parking is available.

We tried El Toro as an alternative to driving downtown to Mexico City. Music was super loud but food was pretty good and waitress was nice. The bill seemed pretty high but we all pitched in and added a good tip and went our way. I wanted to make sure I pitched in enough so calculated the total at home. Our bill at the restaurant came to just under $150 when it should have been closer to $125. I hope it was an honest mistake, but it was a pretty big error as we ended up leaving $175. I didn't see anywhere on the menu that said they automatically added gratuity (we had a group of 4 adults and 2 kids). Bummer.

THE Best beef fried tacos you'll ever eat! They Brown the american cheese and you can see it on the edge of the tacos!!

That being said, the food seems very basic on the menu but it is SO INCREDIBLE! Cannot recommend the sweet potato enough and ceviche (ask for chips). If this place wasn't always booked I would be going every week. We were there for a birthday celebration and they brought our mezcal shoes for us. We felt taken care of and loved every minute of it. This place fills up 60 days in advance, without fail! When we arrived, we were able to get parking about a block away on the street. We were soon greeted and guided to our seats upon walking in. This is a very small restaurant - only a few tables, not many options for big groups, and some bar seating both inside and outside. I can see why the reservations are in such high demand! We were recommended to get 4-5 small plates, so we decided on the Guacamole Alma, Burrito de Frijoles Puerco, Apache en su Jugo, and Enmolada de Pato. We also shared the hibiscus margarita and Mex 75. The drinks came out first - the hibiscus margarita was so refreshing, light and delicious! We weren't as big fans of the Mex 75 - but if you like smoky drinks this is the one for you. The guacamole came out first - it was tangy and tasty. I will say that the other dishes were a lot more unique. The burrito was a standout - we absolutely loved the homemade sourdough tortilla, one of the best we've ever tasted. The chorizo filling was savory and tasty. The Apache en su Jugo was unique and had a lovely flavor - if you are a beef tartare fan this is a wonderful dish to try! The enmolado de pato came out last and we thoroughly enjoyed the mole and flavor. This is definitely worth checking out. I will say as a Houston native we have several restaurants with similar flavors and slightly lower price tags and wait times, so I am a bit spoiled in that regard. But all in all the service is wonderful, it's a pleasure to try so many different and unique dishes, and the joy of snagging a reservation is worth it!

The food was delicious! We got $2 chips and salsa off the happy hour menu and the queso con soyrizo (not on HH menu) which was served with warm tortillas. Honestly we probably didn't need all that because the tacos were so good I could've just filled up on more of the tacos, but still was a great meal! I ordered the lengua, pastor, and taco special (breaded shrimp). They were all so good. Think taco quality of a good street taco spot but with the ambiance of a cute tex mex bar. The bartender was great and made a solid marg ($8 on happy hour). You get a great deal on taco Tuesday but I'm sure you'd get great service and quality any day of the week!

I grabbed a seat at the bar where the bartender was friendly and engaging. On a recent Wednesday at 7:15, the restaurant was packed. When I left around 8:30, it was still busy. That's usually the best review a restaurant can get. Loyal customers don't keep coming back out of habit. They come back because it feels like home. The all-day happy hour margarita for $9 certainly doesn't hurt. The second one arrives before you've had time to argue yourself out of it. I ordered the enchiladas with carne asada and their house mole. If you're expecting one of those intensely complex moles with enough ingredients to fill a pantry, this isn't that. Adelitas' version is comforting, approachable, and deeply homey. It tastes less like a culinary experiment and more like something your abuela has been making for decades. The carne asada was tender, the rice and beans were exactly what they should be, and every bite reminded me why comfort food never goes out of style. Before leaving, I made the smartest decision of the evening. Tres leches to go. I devoured it later at home while Netflix asked if I was still watching. The cake somehow manages to be light while completely satisfying. Don't skip it. Better yet, don't pretend you're saving it for tomorrow. Adelitas isn't trying to impress you. It's trying to feed you well, welcome you warmly, and send you home happier than when you arrived. Whether your abuela was Mexican...or Greek...you'll understand exactly what they're serving here.
