We ordered for pick up and when it got to our house the chicken quesadilla was cold, and in general the chicken itself on all our orders was cold. The chicken (all legs and thighs) was cold, dry, and tasted old -- so tough it was difficult to even eat. The rice and macaroni were also dry and stale, clearly not fresh. The only thing that seemed freshly made were the tortillas. On top of that, no salsa was included, which made everything even more disappointing. If you have never tried this place, your missing out. Fir a fast food pleace the food is delicious and is affordable for the amount and quality. We tried a quesadilla with beef and let me tell you for a chicken place. This beef was amazing. It was a lot like Barbacoa. I normally get the original chicken bowl I feel it is the perfect size for me sometimes I'll take a little bit home but a great deal and taste amazing. The chicken always has a great seasoning the rice and the beans together. Reminds me of HOME when I was little on Easter I would love to make a bowl of just rice and beans (my moms rice and beans are so good) and this chicken bowl reminds me of that flavor. read more

I placed a huge order online only to get an email that said they did not get it. So I have to do it again and called the manager - when I got there, the order was not yet ready and they told me its gonna take another 10 mins - we waited and it took 50 mins. Came here to order food through drive thru. We were going to order the 8 piece family meal until we saw a sign for 8 piece family feast that is basically the same thing but you get a salad and churros. We were going to get that but they said they only have the leg and thigh and that it would cost an extra 3-4 bucks with the churros. Grant that their was a set price already on the menu. We decided to go with the 8pc family meal and then she asked mixed of leg and thigh.... We asked so you have mixed for the 8 piece family but not the the feast. She then was confused just as we were and said yes. We left it alone and stuck with the 8 piece family meal. When it came to our sides we asked for mash potatoes and mac and cheese. We get to the window and they say they ran out of potatoes yet we could see through the window the lady scooping mash potatoes. We were so confused. She then said oh we can give you mash potatoes. We get home only to realize the chicken are super small. I wish I took a pic but I was just hungry at this point. But the wing was the size of my two fingers and the legs had hardly any meat on it. The breast and their were bigger than the other pieces but not that much bigger. We paid 27 bucks for small pieces of chicken and 2 sides. It was horrible I advise you to not go here until they serve the right size chicken. The amount they charge for the little amount you get is not right. I also will add we tried to come here a few months before but for some reason the door was lock with people inside. Reach out to corporate and tried to figure out what was going on. I ordered and make it home and my son's quesadillas was a kids portion and cold and dry with hardly any meat and my husbands 2 piece chicken order was incorrect and the portion size was enough for my 2 year old granddaughter! My salad was NOTHING AT ALL like it was on the picture NO DRESSING! NO UTENSILS! It was only wilted lettuce and a few pieces of cold dry chicken! So naturally i was pissed! When your hungry you expect to get good food and the fact that i had to drive a little far really made me mad so i called and complained and the manager told me to come in to replace the order and normally I wouldn't go back! But i did this time only because it was such a disaster that i needed them to REDEEM themselves! So i go back 2 days later (7-12-23) and go inside now because its actually open and the girl at the register acted like she was scared to talk or she didn't understand what i was saying and she just looked at me! She does have a nice smile. She finally decided to come over to the counter to take our order. She was cocky, obnoxious, full of herself in her own presence, appearing to be annoyed with our presence. I placed my order for a Classic Chicken Tostada bowl, with a chicken blanco burrito asking for a regular cup for ice water. This woman, placed a small clear child's size SIPPY CUP down in front of me. I asked for a regular size cup for my ice water. She responded "I don't THINK it's allowed" refusing to provide a plain paper cup to a disabled senior citizen standing before her with a cane and severely limited ambulatory ability, my son standing next to me to support me to prevent a fall. Her inability to "THINK", cost your establishment over $91 sales for in-house dining and a take out order. This young tattooed black female is an arrogant employee of your EL Pollo Loco dining facility. SHE IS NOT CUSTOMER FOCUSED. My son and I went to another El Pollo Loco facility where the staff there are CUSTOMER FOCUSED, KIND, CARING and more importantly are of the ability to "THINK". Your second facility was more responsive and customer care oriented, providing an old disabled man's need of an inexpensive regular sized paper cup for ice water to avoid multiple trips to the fountain and possible fall. JUAN who promptly served me with a regular sized paper cup for my indoor dining ($29.30 meal) later accepted our take orders ($62.32). JUAN was a nice caring young man, friendly, promptly greeted my son and I, taking our order, while providing a decent paper cup as requested for my ice water. My son and I had a fine meal, took home some great eats with our take out orders to our families in separate take out bags. My wife, my son, his wife and his two young boys enjoyed these 8 piece family meals. I suffer from severe heart disease and from severe vestibular disease affecting my balance and depth of field, requiring routine ambulatory support. This is one of the slowest "fast food" restaurants I've been to. It is absolutely ridiculous. They take forever to do every single task. Is it stupidity? Do they not care? Their menu is big and there's plenty of options but this location in Houston had me lost for words. When coming in we were a little disturbed to see a guy on top of the grills where chicken is cooked washing the vents. They only had chicken bowls, chicken quesadillas and like chicke plates but nothing like LA. They didn't have the extensive menu so that was pretty disappointing. The hot chocolate was definitely not Mexican hot chocolate it was very water down. Everything in the restaurant seems unmaintained. How about the food was cold, the chicken was dried out and I am like I thought it was double chicken and I barely got chicken on both orders and never recieved my beans and rice on the side.
