This place was really good. The food was delicious...no complains there and the employees were just so sweet and caring it was a great place to be. The employees were great at answering questions and did a great job making conversation and making us laugh. Their constant care for making sure the customers were satisfied made me want to absolutely come back here. The food was really good, but probably nothing you haven't eaten before...a great place for not so much to try delicious Mexican food for sure. My ONLY complain is that there were more tables in the store than space...not much room to walk and you bump into people around...NOT a big deal though considering the food is good. And anyone who is feeling brave or just has a gigantic appetite there is an off menu item I forget what it is called but just tell them you want the $15.00 Burrito for four it weighs around 4 pounds has three meats and the works. props if you can finish it by your self like i did iwas stuffed for two days after wards but it was worth it. El Pique has excellent burritos, tacos, enchiladas, tostadas, and tamales. The red and green mole sauces are both quite tasty. You can get really good whole beans on anything that has beans. Whole wheat tortillas are available for an extra 15 or 25 cents, depending on size. The meat in any of these creations is just fine, pretty much normal. The great caveat is that if you order any grilled meat -- carne asada plate, chicken fajitas, or whatever -- it comes out burned black. I mean crispy-crittered to the point of being carbonized to cinders. The peppers and onions were burnt to a crisp too, with little black flecks of grill residue. This is not an accident, it's their take on the proper way to cook Mexican meat on a grill. It's a hot country with little refrigeration, right? You can see a few clear hints of it in the menu pictures of blackened carne asada. My problem is that burned food is carcinogenic, and there is no point in putting that in your mouth. When I got a blackened plate of fajitas, I didn't send it back because I realized that to some people that's the correct style -- but I did get my fair warning. Another oddity is the lack of limes. If you ask for some lime, they are likely to give you a couple of slices of lemon. This is Springfield, right? Everything else is so good that I'll just avoid anything grilled in the future. Of particular note is the red salsa. The green is good, but the red is just delicious. The fish tacos are also unusually tasty, and are available "Baja style," with cabbage and a special sauce made from roasted Chipotle peppers (and mayonnaise, I think). I generally use the second tortilla to make another taco with half of the filling, because otherwise it's hard to get the whole thing into my mouth. read more

This place is fantastic. It's not a sit down family Mexican place you'd spend an hour and a half and get margaritas with dinner at, though there is a fair amount of seating for such a small place and if you are a fan of burrito boy or burrito amigos, try this place. The prices are similar, but the menu is much bigger and over time I've had nearly everything on it and it's all great. The atmosphere is bright and warm, and the staff really bring that family-owned feel to the table. They will remember you and you will feel like a regular after only coming a few times. They have the classic green jalapeño hot sauce of any of the fast grab burrito places, and their spicier red option has a great, smoky, warm flavour. Their wet burritos have a special (wet Wednesday!) and I make it there for it almost every week. Tamales are close to the best I've ever had, which is amazing for a place you can get your food to go and be out the door in under 10 minutes. And the enchilada sauce is the best I've been able to find in all of Eugene and Springfield. read more

4th time here and it has never disappointed us. We always get the Al Pastor wet burritos with green mole. They are amazing. So much flavor! And Huge!! There's always leftovers for lunch the next day. My daughter and I stopped in there after reading YELP reviews. I ordered the two chile rellanos plate and daughter ordered the two tacos plate. The meat in the tacos were tough. The connective tissue in the meat didn't cook down and probably why the 3" strip of meat came out because you couldn't bite through it as it was so tough. We shared our plates with each other. The chile rellano was ok, but too much red sauce and the refried beans apparently were underneath the rellanos, because the bites I took had beans with it. The beans and rice were very bland. We also had to ask for metal silverware, as we were given plastic forks and knives. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. We had to shoo away a fly or two, as they would get in when the door was open. We left 90% of our food on our plates. Very disappointed. I was raised on the border of Mexico and used to eating real Mexican food. Guess I was expecting too much based on the reviews. read more

First time here since we just recently moved to Springfield. Nothing jumped out like I was going to get food poisoning but the first impression was very bland and weird tasting. I had the carnitas wet burrito with green sauce... the sauce was the weird part. It didn't taste like a verde sauce that you would expect or desire to have on anything. Super tangy, hard to explain but it threw the whole dish off. The meat was okay (hard to mess up carnitas) and the rest of the ingredients were bland with not a whole lot of seasoning going on. Chips were stale and gross. I was starving, so I ate it but not impressed. Since it was my first time here and the ratings were good I'll give this place another shot and order something different... kind of hard to mess up a burrito, so we'll see. read more

After waiting for a long time to order through their drivethru, I then waited a long time for it to be prepared. Only to be served absolutely HORRIBLE food. I ordered a combo plate, with Chile relleno and a chicken enchilada. First off, the entire plate was drenched in mole sauce. A bland, soupy mess. The enchilada consisted of chunks of bland chicken wrapped in a soggy tortilla. The chile was complete mush, no cheese filling. The beans and rice?? Wow, the worst I've ever had. The flavor of everything was very off-putting, lost my appetite. When I returned to bring back my food (who wants to pay $9.25 for garbage) the staff's reaction was simply rude. Instead of saying "I'm sorry, how can we make it right?" I got, "what was wrong with it?!" After I explained the soupy mess, she looked at me as though I was an idiot and said, "Yeah. That's how it is suppose to be." Wow. Seriously? Then it took them another 10 minutes to refund my money. I will never return. read more

Chose this because of the reviews but was disappointed. Yes, it was only a vegetarian burrito but... I didn't read the fine print--no rice in the burritos. So, a lot of tortilla, a very small amount of cheese (as in I couldn't taste it), some lettuce, onion, tomato. I chose the whole beans--very plain. Hot sauces (emphasis on hot) in squeeze bottles. Just moved into the area and was super excited to see a Mexican food restaurant walking distance! My husband ordered 4 soft tacos with no onion, I ordered a bacon burrito, and a chorizo burrito for my little brother. The tacos came with onions. When my husband made a comment about it the cashier snuck into the back rather than fix it. We split the chorizo burrito which was quite tasty but not as full of flavor as I would've imagined - the beans and potato felt nonexistent, and those are my 2 favorite and the reason I decided to get a breakfast burrito in the first place! The bacon burrito however, is the reason why I'll never visit this place again. Not only did the beans or potato not save this burrito (because you couldn't even taste them), but the bacon had a horrible smell and texture, not to mention the taste - it must've been going bad. When I mentioned it to the cook, she made no attempt to fix it, or apologize - nothing. I threw out a whole burrito that I had only taken a few bites out of. And I wish it ended there, but my stomach was so upset the whole rest of the day. read more

However, we went through drive thru last week, order 2 of our favorite burritos and when we got to half way to our camping spot discovered only one was in the bag. Did not get back til middle of the week, called to ask for my other burrito I paid for and they said no. MONSTER size burritos, I got the wet supreme burrito with al pastor and green mole sauce. The green mole is out of this world. It's almost creamy, and very rich and flavorful. Burrito was on point, flavorful meat, gigantic, and fresh chips. Guac is okay, a little thin for my taste, but it does have a pretty good flavor. Best burritos in Oregon so far. read more
