    Bar area - Frozen Drinks
    Lexi M.

We ordered some food to go from here. The food was really good and we ordered some frozen margaritas for dinner. We had to wait a little bit to pick up the food, but we didn't mind too much as they were clearly packed. I would suggest just ordering frozen drinks from somewhere else as it was a tad pricey here.

2 for 1 margarita for happy hour

Large menu with lots of options, good value. I enjoyed the frozen house margarita and it was even more special that it was 2 for 1. The happy hour special is from 3-7pm. I like that it has several vegetarian options on the menu. I enjoyed the vegetarian quesadilla and I would order it again. The nachos looked really nice and my family enjoyed those.

I believe there is an El Paso Mexican Grill in every Louisiana town with more than 3,000 people. This franchise opened a few months ago and has been packed ever since. It's located in the former Chalmette favorite eatery of Tony's, so it's a pretty large restaurant. While I don't generally care for chains, this one isn't half bad. They have all the traditional Tex-Mex food that you'll find in any Tex-Mex restaurant in America including the margaritas for all the 30+ year old moms who want to get away from their kids and yell "Wooooooo" a lot. They also have a lot of seafood dishes that I assume is all locally caught. At least I hope it is. They have mole enchiladas and for my money any Mexican restaurant with a mole dish is doing something right. While this wasn't my favorite mole dish of all time, it was solid. El Paso isn't going to blow you away but it's convenient and consistent and that's all I need it to be.

Nachos (before adding the rest of the toppings)

El Paso is a chain. If you go in expecting the quality of food that you would normally get with a typical, generic Mexican chain, you won't be disappointed in the food. & I've always thought that their margaritas are pretty good at this location. Also, hard to be picky when there are very few decent restaurants in Chalmette.

    The Puff Taco...she couldn't wait

This place came recommended by a co-worker of mine who said it is her favorite place. So wifey and I decided to try it. With Covid-19 dining in restrictions still in effect it was nice to go inside and eat. All patrons were seated socially distance apart and everyone followed protocol. They brought us out chips, salsa and black bean puree (dip). Call it what you want but it was good! Even better mixed with the quest we ordered. The menu has alot to offer and per usual, I couldn't decide. Craving enchiladas I went with a favorite of Chicken enchiladas with green sauce, rice and beans. Classic and delicious. The chicken was tender and the flour tortillas were soft and perfect. I was a happy girl eating way more than I should have. But it's Mexican food! How can you not! Wifey ordered the "Puff Taco" with ground beef. The taco is HUGE and takes up the entire plate. Deep-fried to a golden brown and stuffed well with all the taco fixing. It was covered in Carne Asada which I liked but wifey wasn't impressed. She loved the taco though and said it's as good as the Danielle style taco from our favorite Mexican place back home in Florida. Oh! Happy Hour was going on so of course we partook in some margaritas..2-4-1! Best yet was our server Lauren. Hands down one of the best servers ever! Attentive and very mindful of my wife's allergy to Cilantro! She is the perfect epitome of how one should be in a customer service field. She is wonderful!! We will definitely come back and make sure Lauren's working!

My friends and I go here for a casual dinner spot or if we want some margaritas. It is very spacious, so you can always be seated almost immediately. There are live bands on the patio several nights a week, and they have daily specials. They bring fresh chips, salsa and bean dip right after you sit down. I typically get an a la carte of the chicken quesadilla since we like to get the queso and/or guacamole as an appetizer. It is tasty, and it is just enough to satisfy my hunger in addition to the chips and salsa. My friends have gotten several different menu items, and they seem to enjoy them all also.

Food has been good. However on my order after ordering a large refried bean and queso they only sent one small bag of chips 3/4 full.

Our waitress gave us some chips and salsa. It was fine, salsa was a little peppery (not necessarily spicy, but a good bit of black pepper). Since it was Good Friday we ordered seafood dishes. My mom ordered the shrimp taco salad and I ordered some shrimp tacos. When my mom ordered the waitress asked what kind of dressing she wanted, but when she brought it out she didn't tell my mom they already put a dressing on the salad. So the other dressing wasn't needed. My shrimp tacos were okay but needed a sauce to go on them. I asked the waitress and she said she could bring me one of the sauces they had, but that it'd be 50 cent. I still decided to get it and it added some flavor/moisture to the tacos. This place has some cute photo worthy areas. I've attached pics of 2 of them, but there's also a swing to take a pic by. When I went inside to take a pic of the chair with the tequila made me do it sign, there was a good bit of fruit flies around there which was aggravating as I had to keep trying to swat them away as I took the picture.

Liked some about it. The top shelf margarita large is $19.99 and not huge but kind of weak…read more(couldn't taste any tequila and margaritas are MY drink.). And WARM. Hate the plastic glasses, but at least get the drink cold. COLD. An on-the-rocks margarita is not supposed to be lukewarm. This was. I strained into my water glass and added ice, let it cool, and poured it back in the margarita glass. There were three of us and two of our three orders came out wrong (one specifically asked for NO cheese and it was covered in it). Mine was a "Caesar" in menu name only. A Caesar is a RECIPE. Imagine ordering chicken cordon bleu and getting pork, bacon and cheddar. Or a BLT and getting salami, avocado, and bell peppers. That's what it is like when you order a Caesar and it's not a Caesar. It was that far off of what a Caesar is. Call it an El Patron Chef Salad. Call it a House Salad. But a Caesar doesn't have avocado, tortilla strips (???), red onions and tomatoes. What it does have? Dressing. This one did not and was room temperature. Even with the dressing (which obviously isn't homemade but was serviceable) still not a Caesar. Caesars in good restaurants are on a chilled plate but that's minor (this was frankly out-of-the-dishwasher warm) compared to it NOT BEING a Caesar. Wasn't very busy (we were in the big room with all the slices of trees on the wall) had about five tables and 15-17 people total? Service was pretty slow. The server was very nice, but the fact that I'm having to tell the server that a Caesar is supposed to have Caesar dressing (which they do carry. The kitchen just hadn't put it on anywhere on the salad.) speaks to a lack of training. Salsa was average, but not exceptional. Overall, completely middle of the road. I'm Coloradan and I'm used to amazing Mexican food and this was below average. Hence the three stars. If Yelp had a 1-10 scale it would get a 3 or 4.

Large waiting area to stand and wait near the hostess station. Also has a bar area which looks like first come, first serve. We ordered drinks while we waited and hung out in the lobby area. Finally we were sat. Complimentary chips and salsa were brought right away. We Ordered drinks and the chorizo queso, which came fairly quickly. The queso is HOT, bubbling in a volcanic rock molcajete. Sooo good. Strongly suggest this item! I ordered the Tacos Tijuana (lengua). My husband ordered grilled fish tacos and an ala carte cheese quesadilla. The food was great. Lengua was a little dry- I know it's lean but it was not as juicy and gamey as I like. No other complaints except the guacamole that came with my tacos tasted artificial or "off". It also stayed very green throughout the meal which tells me there is either a lot of lemon or it is premade with something to make it not oxidate like fresh avocados. It was just not great guacamole. The frijoles charro on the other hand were excellent! Lots of flavor, pork, cooked nicely and seasoned well. I could eat that by itself. I will for sure be back.
