This was an okay experience. Decent food and drinks. They have the margarita dispensers & basic margaritas are buy one get one free on Tuesdays. Hubs had the house recommended burrito and said it was good. Our friend had a combo, enjoyed part then and took the rest home. I went with the stuffed poblanos with chicken. Note that when you add meet to these it is put on top, makes sense if the poblanos are prepped early. I'm not sure it needs the breading but things seem to get breaded in NOLA. It was also oddly salty in some spots, almost like someone had poured instead of sprinkled. The staff were extremely friendly and the place was clean and they had a spacious dining area but the food I ordered, and looking at what others ordered, the food is extremely lacking! The cup of soup had tortilla strips that were extremely too large for the tiny soup and they were rubbery and extremely salty. It just felt like I was eating soggy chips and not a proper tortilla soup. I'm glad I didn't order the bowl. The queso was also very salty. By looking at others food it was very generic food and, yes I'm Mexican and therefore bias, but even allowing for the fact that we're not in Mexico and giving some type of grace, nothing appeared Mexican! I'm sad they sell this and market it as a Mexican restaurant as the food was not even remotely close to Mexican flavors. They need to look up basic tortilla soup online and try again. I'm disappointed and will not be coming back. Please check your recipes and at least get closer to Mexican flavors. I understand there are a variety of Mexican flavors but this completely missed the mark. I like to use El Paso for takeout when i'm at work. I've heard that this place gets busy busy with live bands and such. I've never had the pleasure of experiencing that but I hear such great things. The steak fajitas are always sizzling and delicious. Filled with flavor. I like utilizing their lunch specials as I don't need a massive dinner portion during the work day but I've found that they are pretty much equal in size. You get a lot of bang for your buck. I believe there is an El Paso Mexican Grill in every Louisiana town with more than 3,000 people. This franchise opened a few months ago and has been packed ever since. It's located in the former Chalmette favorite eatery of Tony's, so it's a pretty large restaurant. While I don't generally care for chains, this one isn't half bad. They have all the traditional Tex-Mex food that you'll find in any Tex-Mex restaurant in America including the margaritas for all the 30+ year old moms who want to get away from their kids and yell "Wooooooo" a lot. They also have a lot of seafood dishes that I assume is all locally caught. At least I hope it is. They have mole enchiladas and for my money any Mexican restaurant with a mole dish is doing something right. While this wasn't my favorite mole dish of all time, it was solid. El Paso isn't going to blow you away but it's convenient and consistent and that's all I need it to be. read more

I actually repeated my order MULTIPLE times due to her background distractions (extremely loud music) Only for me to arrive to a half wrong order. I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent experience at your restaurant on 9-27-24. I ordered the guacamole salad, which I expected to include a decent portion of guacamole, as the name indicates it is supposed to be a guacamole salad. It was $7.95!!! And, it consisted primarily of a few pieces of shredded lettuce and some chopped tomatoes, with only a tiny drop of guacamole that was barely noticeable in flavor. Additionally, when I requested sour cream, believing it was included, I was surprised to be charged an extra $1.95. I believe it is important for customers to receive the quality and value that they pay for. That is absolutely ridiculous. I tried to speak to a "manager" but all she offered to do was give me something extra to take home. I had no desire for additional food.... Then the quesadilla barley had cheese, when I say barely I mean specs of cheese. That is why it called a quesadilla, because of the cheese. As a unsatisfied customer I asked for a refund and she had the audacity to say that she couldn't give me a refund. This place came recommended by a co-worker of mine who said it is her favorite place. So wifey and I decided to try it. With Covid-19 dining in restrictions still in effect it was nice to go inside and eat. All patrons were seated socially distance apart and everyone followed protocol. They brought us out chips, salsa and black bean puree (dip). Call it what you want but it was good! Even better mixed with the quest we ordered. The menu has alot to offer and per usual, I couldn't decide. Craving enchiladas I went with a favorite of Chicken enchiladas with green sauce, rice and beans. Classic and delicious. The chicken was tender and the flour tortillas were soft and perfect. I was a happy girl eating way more than I should have. But it's Mexican food! How can you not! Wifey ordered the "Puff Taco" with ground beef. The taco is HUGE and takes up the entire plate. Deep-fried to a golden brown and stuffed well with all the taco fixing. It was covered in Carne Asada which I liked but wifey wasn't impressed. She loved the taco though and said it's as good as the Danielle style taco from our favorite Mexican place back home in Florida. Oh! My friends and I go here for a casual dinner spot or if we want some margaritas. It is very spacious, so you can always be seated almost immediately. There are live bands on the patio several nights a week, and they have daily specials. They bring fresh chips, salsa and bean dip right after you sit down. I typically get an a la carte of the chicken quesadilla since we like to get the queso and/or guacamole as an appetizer. This place deserves the rating it has. Whoever the lady is with the bad bbl got a nasty attitude. She is not friendly to customers or delivery people. I had a DoorDash order and it's my first week doing it. When I went to pickup my order I got handed a bag filed with things that she should have used two bags instead. When I got in my car and put the bag on the passenger floor and started to drive the containers fell over and one broke open causing the taco to get all over the floor of my car, I didn't even leave the parking lot yet. I went back inside to get another one and she told me she'd make an exception this one time and the tone in her voice was as if she didn't like that I asked for a new Taco and told me I should have a DoorDash bag, I told her this is my first week. DoorDash does not send you bags till after a few days delivering food. I also noticed on the receipt that is said there was a order of one Coke as well so I had explained that to her and she gave me cup of coke with Coke still on the side of the cup dripping. She put it on the counter and didn't give me a straw , just went about her business. I had to grab it and she watched me. El Paso's tortilla soup was a container of red water - think the color of diluted hot sauce - and it was accompanied with a dressing-size container of pico de gallo and one of shredded cheese. This is a great addition to the restaurants in Chalmette! The atmosphere is really nice, there's a bar and booths. They have a great selection of Mexican food, and even Mexican desserts. But they could have more vegetarian/vegan options. I personally don't eat dairy, but you can easily ask for no cheese on something. I forgot so I just scraped it off. But that's just my preference and it'd be really nice if they did. The unlimited salsa and bean dip were also sooo good! And the tortillas were A1, really soft. This might be the worst El Paso I've ever been to. First we ordered margaritas off there new menu (clearly rebranded or hired an outside company) and they brought us two drinks that tasted like juice. I asked our server about it and the bartender came over to tell us they didn't have any brand tequila. What? So they were charging for a premium margarita and admitted to using their well (or worse) tequila which was the only one they had. That's called scamming people. The bartender also didn't know how many ounces were in the beer glasses when we asked the difference. So we ordered two beers. Our server seemed like a sweet girl, but she was not trained. She needed to look at our menu to read us a description of one of the menu items when we were asking how it was served. She seemed very flustered and came to ask us if we were ready to order after we had already put in our food order WITH HER. She said she was new, and usually I cut new servers some slack because they are still learning the ropes. I just want to start off by saying customer service is terrible. I asked if they had carne asada fries and I was told yes. When I get home I check the bag and it was a carne meal (so not the fries). Usually eat here once a week for well over a year now. When the restaurant first open the quality was excellent. I have seen a gradual decline in the food quality. One example being the shrimp fajitas. Previously they came with jumbo shrimp and you can tell they were cooked on the grill and well seasoned . Recently, I've noticed the shrimp are much smaller and not even grilled(looked like they were pre cooked or steamed) with hardly any seasoning at all. Don't understand why change something that was a great dish. The prices haven't changed any. The service is still great. However, if this restaurant is beginning the transition to lesser quality(once they built a large customer base) like most restaurants do, we will likely take our patronage elsewhere. I've eaten here several times during the work week for lunch. The food is consistently great. I have had the enchiladas, fajitas, and taco salad, and they've all been delicious. The tortillas are always tender with the enchiladas (most restaurants rush them and they're tough). The taco salad was full of chicken - no skimping here! - that was flavorful and tender. The fajitas are great, too. If you skip the black bean dip that comes with the chips, you're missing out on its deep, almost smoky flavor. All meals come in huge portions, so the price is worth it, and the service is good. One day I was in a big rush, so I let the hostess know. She relayed that to my server, who had my food on the table in less than five minutes. I was in and out the door in under 30 minutes! It's always clean, too.
