My last meal here was the #1 Lunch Special which is a combo plate of a burrito, enchilada, taco and tostada. I'm giving two stars based on food. My boyfriend got the steak fajitas and I got the shedded beef quesadilla. I have tried 5 Mexican restaurants in the West Bank and this restaurant is the cheapest which is a plus being inexpensive but sadly, the food was not good. This is my least favorite one out of all the Mexican restaurants I had. The refried beans tasted like water down. The steak fajitas was the worst fajitas and the steak looks old. It lacks flavor. I like the customer services. The staffs were friendly and greeted me but the food need to be improve. I'd rather go to Taco Bell. And the food was mediocre at best - nothing was hot, things weren't prepared properly, and my salad was a half cup of shredded iceberg. Went in about 8:45p closing time was 10pm. Seating was very limited due to no bus boys so tables were dirty and since servers had to clean they were waiting until closing time. Walked in around 8:45PM, my wife and I. Young gentleman, Carlos was our server. They were slow but the chips were fresh and hot. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that. We have frequented this restaurant since it opened some years ago. Just got back from the WORST meal ever there. Wife had shrimp quesadillas, frijoles, guac. I ordered chicken fajitas, and I asked for extra onions. This is the plate of mess that they brought to the table for me. The onions covered the plate. I had 2 slivers of red bell peppers, although you can't even see them, and the little bit of chicken you seen on the plate. The garnish plate, came with a tablespoon of guacamole with maybe 2 tablespoons of shredded lettuce, the refried beans I ordered and sour cream that I asked them not to put on the plate. Over all. Someone working on the kitchen doesn't know the difference between Pozole and Menudo. Hubby ordered Pozole but instead the broth was the Menudo and pieces or pork ribs added to it. Not to mention we waited over 40 minutes to get our food when there were only two other tables party of 2. I have had meals here before that were just okay, but this one was really good :) My dad and I came for a Sunday lunch. It's great that the lunch menu applies 7 days a week. First of all, the chips and salsa are delicious- above average for sure. My dad ordered the lunch dish consisting of scrambled eggs, beans and rice- he said it was interesting and enjoyed it. He also got a guacamole salad, and enjoyed the guacamole but there was only a little of it with a lot of lettuce. I got a tamale- pretty good, beef flauta- good!, beef taco- delicious and chicken enchilada- too much sauce, but not bad. For dessert he got the fried ice cream which he LOVED. I've been here once before and the food was really good so I'm not sure what happened this time. Chips were stale, queso was extra watery, my crispy tacos were far from crispy, none of the meat was seasoned and the drinks were super weak. Server was very slow and uninterested. And most disturbing of all- We watched another customer cough up a lung it seemed all over their table and when they left the server barely cleaned the table. I doubt we will return. The west bank is known for having the best Vietnamese food in the metro area. I don't think I would be stretching the truth to claim that they also have some of the best Mexican food. I'm not talking super fancy Mexican food, but good, casual places that offer great value. This is one such restaurant. The restaurant and parking area are very large. Inside the restaurant is very open and I wasn't a big fan of the layout. It seemed like there was no privacy at the tables in the center of the room, and if you sat there you would be on display for your fellow diners. I did like the booths along the walls as they seem more private and comfortable. The food is traditional Mexican or Tex-Mex fare. I am not sure how authentic it is since I have never officially been to Mexico, but it was very good. All of the items I have tried have been fresh and tasted great. They were also incredibly cheap which makes for a happy wallet when the check comes. If you're on the west bank and want good food at a great price, keep Las Cazuelas in your rotation. read more

This is a really new Mexican place on the Westbank, and as far as Westbank Mexican places (there are a bunch) this one measures up nicely, but I wasn't blown away. I stopped in here for lunch. First of all, I love the open air space and there are tons of seating. I can see how this would probably be a cool hangout for Cinco de Mayo and a good spot to eat dinner if you have a big group of people. The menu is packed with everything you could want including Mexican inspired pasta dishes and hamburgers. I decided to keep it pretty simple with a chicken quesadilla that came with a side of re-fried beans and rice. The quesadilla was good. The chicken was grilled nicely and was spiced for flavor. The same couldn't be said for the rice and beans. They were just super bland and I would have liked it if they had had a little more "kick" to them. All in all the meal wasn't earth stopping, but it was pretty good for a lunch. Our waitress was really nice and attentive and was good at making sure that we were happy and had everything that we needed. Would I go back? Sure, but there are better choices for Mexican on the Westbank. I'll probably return in a few months after they have hit their stride. read more

My husband and I were really craving some Mexican cuisine. We haven't had any since moving to New Orleans and we had our favorite restaurant in the last city we lived in so its always hard trying to find a place as good as your last favorite. This is only about 13 minutes from our house so we decided to try it and we were not disappointed. It was so good. I ordered the burrito loco and so did my husband, it was a little spicy but I enjoy spicy food. They also had a special 2 for 7$ margs, they were small but I'm not complaining. Overall, it's just really messy, cheesy, warm Mexican food that is so tasty and sinful. Next time I have a craving I will come back here. The prices were also fair, most dinner entrees are under 10$ and I had lunch the next day as well! Service was a little slow but they were somewhat busy and I'm not in a hurry. Enchiladas are always amazing. Rice and beans always excellent. The charo beans are some of the best I've ever had. The Mexican style corn is weird and tastes like lime and tajin. The seasoned ground beef enchiladas are always always excellent. The chips however are always cold and stale by the time they arrive. Lime chipotle sauce is super awesome. But for some reason my order is always missing something. Either salsa, extra toppings I ordered, something. Food is really good. I will try something besides enchiladas next time but for now they are doing a good job. Just missing a few points for chips and missing items. They usually pump the food out really fast and DoorDash gets here really quickly. Just hopeful they can tighten up their delivery system and consistency in orders.
