The salsa was bland however the Fajita Trio with rice and beans were good. I'm a Texan, and I have not had many good much less great TexMex experiences outside of Texas. The portion is excellent. It will feed me for 2 more meals. The atmosphere is great, the service from Roberto was top notch. The salsa could use some spicing up, IMHO. Great place all in all! read more

Great Mexican food in La place. Great service too. It was loud. But that might have been the birthday party that was there. Will go again when in town. read more

We just went there for lunch and was with family that are regulars there. It was the worst experience we've ever had. The menu has different prices than what the will actually charge. Once we asked the older women manager, she continued to argue and say that is just how the computer rings it up. She didn't even seem to understand why that was wrong and gave no solution. She insisted on telling us we were wrong and got in my face and snapped at me saying that I was wrong. Terrible experience and do not recommend! read more

My husband and our family have come to eat here since the day it opened. The restaurant is always very clean and the service never disappoints. We love the food, especially the ribeye and charro beans! The portions are perfect, which makes for an order of charro beans to take home for later. The prices have gone up quite a bit on the menu but so has everywhere's else. The ambiance gives a traditional Cantina vibe to go with the experience. read more

La Carreta - LaPlace - Duck empanadas - Mexican Near Me - Laplace, Louisiana

Stopped on our way to go to LSU. OMG the food was amazing! We live on the east coast and this by far was the best Mexican meal we've ever had. We plan on making La Carreta a tradition when we visit again. read more

The best! Affordable and solid cuisine. Always hits the spot. For me, tacos are the way to go... accompanied by a nice frozen margarita. I love the frozen mango -- sweet and smooth! Best margaritas! read more

Best most authentic Mexican food in the area. Though it's a franchise, I can say that the good is consistently good. Refried beans, chorizo, queso & the like. The mixed drinks are amazing. Heck, sometimes I go just for the drinks. Tucked off in a strip mall in Laplace, I easily missed. But the locals in the area are quite familiar, at night there's normally a packed house when I pass. read more

Great food, excellent service the drinks are delicious and not too expensive, lots of variety. They have live music also

I just paid $11.25 for this? Will not be visiting this place again. I know times are tough but this isn't even enough for a kids meal. read more

We live in Hahnville we came here - about a 30 min ride - for the first time and it was absolutely amazing!!! The drinks are authentic and yummy. I had the shrimp tacos they were full of flavor and the best of all carne asada was so tender and juicy. Most of the time carne asada is over cooked but NOT this one!!!! It was so tender!!! The best Mexican I've had yet. read more

It was good. I've tried the chicken tinga taco and daily lunch special which both were good. Happy hour drinks were good. Great salsa. I also ordered flauntas to go. They prepared them as if I was eating there so by the time I made it home they were soggy and inedible. I would suggest you tell them to separate the dressing on your to go orders. read more

Cauliflower tacos were absolutely wonderful. The Mexican Street corn is so delicious. I dreamt about coming back for more.

I've now been to La Carreta three times in the past week to feed myself and my crew. The food and the service are excellent!! Read some of the other low star reviews and I have no idea how they could arrive at that conclusion. What a great restaurant and we'll definitely be back!! read more

Consistently good food. My only concern is that the salsa is not made on site, so you cannot get it without cilantro.

Good and efficient lunch system. I'm still preferring another eatery in the area but was nice to mix it up. Service was on top of it and place was busy. read more

It's OK. Not great service and not fantastic food. Very mediocre. Probably will not go back anytime soon.

Omg! The La Carreta that is located in Laplace has amazing food, but this guy who served me the last few times keep being out my tab right after I receive my food as if I'm going to run off...... Because I'm black. And also says YOU American. read more

It's a hit or miss with the the service. They have a hard time handling big crowds. Got seated quickly, but waited about 10 minutes before being brought chips and salsa. Waited another 5 mins to put in order. No one came so we left to go to El Paso where we were seated and served quickly and the food and drinks are pretty much the same. read more

This place is absolutely wonderful. Fast service with a smile, awesome presentation and it taste like heaven to the last dang bite! Not sure why it's not a 5 star from everyone. I have ate here numerous times and never once a bad meal. read more

Service was slow and poor. I ordered a burrito with beef and black beans and no rice. What I was served was a burrito with chicken and rice and no beans. Food was horrid, too salty, chicken was dry and everything was totally lacking in flavor. I will never eat here again. It's pretty hard to mess up Mexican food but this was the worst ever! read more

If you live in Laplace, then you know there are minimal food options. However, this place does not disappoint when it comes to options. Last Wednesday, I took my mother out to enjoy some delicious fajitas. There happen to be a deal on fajitas on Wednesday which was a plus for me. From the chorizo queso to steaks and tinga fajitas, everything was fresh and tasty. La Carreta is definitely a LaPlace staple. read more

Family friendly environment. Great food. Speedy service. Cheap prices for drinks and food.

The grilled chicken taco was so tasty we ate every single bite! Service was excellent also !

This is near my workplace, I decided to give it a try. Everyone is sweet there, however the second time I came. The waitress didn't really check up on us and she messed up our check. The food is amazing and their lunch menu is cheap too. read more

Food was excellent. Our server was very uninterested and was tipped accordingly. The restroom was very clean.

I love this place! It so payed back and the food is always fresh. This place in not far from my home son my family frequent here all the time. My favorite it the shrimp brochettes, pollo loco, and the mango margaritas. The margaritas are to die for. I highly recommend LaCaretta. You will not be disappointed. read more

Probably the best La Carretas other than Hammond. We had a great lunch here and the restaurant was exceptionally clean. I mean to the point of standing out. Bathroom was great too. Our lunch came out timely and tasted great. My fajitas were on a dry skillet... so much better without all the grease! My wife enjoyed her flautas too. And the drinks hit the spot. Happened to be in the area today... so probably won't be back, but for a town with very limited choices... this is a diamond among rocks. read more

This neighborhood restaurant has a wonderful outdoor patio which attracted me to the restaurant. It was not busy and we had a minimal wait time for food and drinks. I had a raspberry margarita on the rocks and it literally taste like juice. I ordered the red fish tacos which were extremely bland despite being very pretty. Overall. It was a great family friendly environment with horrible food and drinks. read more

This is not an authentic mexican cousine, is ok for the locals that never had the real mexican cousine but not for people that have higher expectations, salsas are not even hot and tacos are served on taco trays. read more

Good Tex-Mex place to stop by for a bite. The tacos were good. The stuffed cream cheese jalapeno was cold so wasn't to crazy about that. Service was great. Reasonable prices. Good lunch menu. The enchiladas sauce was not what we are use too. We like more of a chili base instead we got a thin sauce that tasted like pure tomatoes. read more

I am not pleased with the recent changes this restaurant has made. I have been coming here for years and as of today (1/27/19) the menu shrunk, the prices grew and the quality of the food too a nose dive. ALSO if you have children be prepared to spend some unnecessary money. The kids menu used to be a full meal with drink included, now it's a few cents less than it was and you have to pay full price for an adult drink ($2.59). If you're like me and have multiple children it adds up. There is something wrong when your bill is $15+ for 6 drinks. read more

It would have gotten 3 stars for its decent if undistinguished menu selection, decent service and regulation decor, but they had hired some low talent musician to bellow original Emo angsty dreck. Really distracting and annoying. We couldn't wait to finish and leave. Must be related to someone in Management--what were they thinking? read more

Great menu for kids but, not a fan of most of the things I ordered. I have given them chance after chance and I'm still searching for 1 menu item I would order again. read more

I have been eating here for years - I've always loved the food! Fortunately the food is still great. Unfortunately, the service lately is not. The waiters are usually very friendly, but management is not so much. There is a manager in the dining room who is there just about every day. Each time he helps the waiters out, covers for them, etc... he has been very rude towards me. He acts like your wasting his time with questions, he always appears inconvenienced by questions, and is generally sarcastic and rude in his manner towards customers. I have experienced this guy's service a handful of times in the last few months and I'm sick of it! La Carreta, your food is great, but its time for the guy in the white shirt to straighten up. Until then, I will be going elsewhere for Mexican cuisine. read more

Waiters often have a slightly negative attitude which can make your visit and meal here quite uncomfortable. It can be a little quiet in this place, bring your headphones lol. Otherwise the awkward feeling will kick in... Good food--if you order the right thing or happen to catch them on a good day... I have been coming here every so often for the past few years, it seems to be same thing every time. Only once have I been and they had what looked like to be a new manager, I would've given it 3 stars but my next visit was back to the same ole' same ole'. The only reason why I come here anymore is when I crave for their salsa--being a #1 Mexican cuisine fan for since before I can remember, they have the best salsa in town. Salsa is a plus. Everything else honestly goes down hill from there. :( La Carreta's on Government St. In Baton Rouge, LA is way better than this one. Same salsa too;) read more
