Street tacos

I had a great experience here. I hope they stay in Syracuse. They are located right in front of the movie theaters and have indoor and outdoor seating. The parking lot is a little tight but I got a spot right in the front. I went here for lunch with a friend and we were seated right away. We got our order quickly and the woman who served us was very kind. We were given chips and salsa. The menu is large and has a lot of options to choose from. It's your typical Tex-mex restaurant. Burritos, tacos, enchiladas.... I got the tacos and ordered one of each. The steak, chicken, and birria. The birria didn't come with sauce but was seasoned well. The steak and chicken was fantastic. My only complaint is they don't come with salsa and they didn't offer me any. The rice was yummy and the beans were okay. If you are a tex-mex lover you will love it here.

Food is a 10/10 always!. My husband orders the Sea&Earth burrito and swears by it (minus onions) The sopes are our favorite as a family though. They are fried perfectly but soft center. Topped with al pastor, lettuce, tomatoes & sour cream. Best tasting rice & beans around hands down. Everyone can make rice and beans but not everyone can get it right. El Palmar is one of those places where you go when want a home cooked meal but don't wanna cook. This is a small business we will always support.

Carne Asada Plate

This was hit and miss for us. Supposedly they are under new ownership and while they were slightly better the second time around, the differences were not big. Carne Asada- this was the best meal on the table. The flank steak had great flavor. Sopes- we got one of each meat. Carne asada, carnitas, and pollo. Everything was okay, but bland. Birria tacos- these were okay at best. The tacos themselves were very cheesy, but the meat didn't have a lot of flavor and they were a bit soggy. They needed some crisp to them and that would've helped a lot. And the consommé wasn't great. It was very bland, the only flavor I could taste was cinnamon, which I definitely don't love in my consommé. I added all the limes and it helped but only a little. Verde Enchiladas- not good. The salsa verde tastes like it's straight from a can. It's puréed completely, thin, and sour. And not good-sour. The rice and beans that came on every plate were also not good. The rice tasted like minute rice, and it was almost mush. Looks like it went through a blender. The beans tasted like they had way too much lard and were extremely bland. Overall, we will probably not come back. We tried them before the ownership change and now after, and the food is sadly still sub-par. They need some major improvements before we patronize them again.

I wanted to support this new restaurant in our community and ended up sorry I did. We went last night and the service was kind but VERY slow. We got there at 7 and didn't leave until almost 9. It took 40 minutes to get chips and salsa. My husband and I had ordered cokes. We both took a sip at the same time and looked at each other saying, "does yours taste off?" I took a couple more sips but couldn't drink any more, it just tasted weird. We finally got our food after being there over an hour and it wasn't good. My husband got the carnitas chimichanga and he said the meat was too dry to eat. He took it out and just ate the tortilla. I had the birria tacos. They had a strong cinnamon flavor and gave me a stomachache. They've only been open 3 weeks so hopefully they work out their kitchen pacing and recipes, but we definitely won't be going back.

This place is authentic the salsa is always fresh and the pineapple drink is amazingly fresh and not powdered or sugary so good !

Bistek Platillo Ceviche de Camaron y Pulpo Tostada Carnitas Sope

Amazing food, Amazing service and such a personal feeling when you go in. They treat you like family, They genuinely want you to enjoy a great dinner and give you amazing service even if you're literally in pajamas. The food came quickly and it tasted better than anything I've had in YEARS. The restaurant was beautiful as well. 10/10 would recommend VERY cost effective as well. You can bring your family without breaking the bank. I hope you can all enjoy their food too!!

Yesterday, my family and I went to check this place out and let's just say I highly recommend this place. Food is delicious, the aguas fresca was so good, and staff are super friendly. If I could give this place 10 stars I would.

Olskool - Ol Skool burrito

My husband and I were invited to an exclusive brunch at Ol Skool to introduce their new breakfast…read moreburrito called The G. The event started out with a bang on a Sunday morning with endless mimosas! The guava went quick, but my husband and I were happy with the orange and pineapple mimosas. While enjoying our mimosas, they brought out the appetizer. It was freshly made guacamole topped with a chili crisp, and it included a flight of their sauces. I'm a sucker for a good guacamole...and their guacamole is great! I loved the chili crisp on top (it reminded me of the Foo Fries they had one time). The chips were salted perfectly and had a good crunch to them. The green sauce was so good, and we liked dipping the guac in it to give the guac a little bit of spice. The salsa had great flavor and I saved some for the main course, but ended up taking the salsa home (I'll touch on that later). The main course was their new special called "The G" which consisted of crinkle cut fries, scrambled eggs, basque chorizo, cheese, Inca sauce, onions, and their new Hood sauce all wrapped up in a flour tortilla. I took one glance at that burrito and I knew I was going to love it, and boy was I right! That sauce mixed with the chorizo and crispy fries really took this burrito to a whole new level. Dare I say it's my new favorite? That flavor and the crunch of the fries really made my tastebuds happy....so much so that I didn't want to change a thing by adding the salsa I saved. The side of fries came with a small container of Hood sauce. With each bite, my husband and I could taste a familiar flavor, but we couldn't quite put our finger on it.....and they wouldn't tell us their secret. We understood though because it's good! After a little bit of digesting, they served us some dessert. It was called "Churros Foster" and it consisted of churros, vanilla ice cream, and it was covered with bananas foster. This dessert was to die for! The cinnamon...the vanilla....the banana....I wanted to lick the bowl clean! I wish this was going to be a new addition to the menu, but for now it's not and I understand. I still really enjoy the churros on their dessert menu. Mimosas, delicious food, and good company! This was such a fun experience and we were very grateful to be invited.

Her favorite is the #11 Enchilada (she prefers them because of the shredded chicken and "soft on her teeth" aspect). I personally ordered one of their Taco Salads (Asada, because I love steak)! It was absolutely delicious and loaded in ingredients. We also ordered a side of their medium size French fries and they were cooked exceptionally well and came with plenty of ketchup and mayonnaise (just in case you might want to make "fry sauce"; the Utah favorite out of them). I had kindly suggested to make the birthday meal "extra special", and the employees went above and beyond to do just that! Got a few tasty unexpected treats along with the sweetest note that can still bring tears to her eyes! The attention to detail, friendly and accommodating employees, along with the freshness of food and good portion sizes is the reason why this place deserves over a 10+ rating! Thank you ALL so very much. And if you're on the fence about this place, I highly recommend that you give them a shot!

Parking was a breeze, which is always a win during the lunch rush. I ordered the strawberry lemonade and the Carne Asada Plate, and both were excellent--the meat was thinly sliced with a flavorful marinade, and the homemade tortillas were thick, warm, and absolutely delicious. Their pico really stood out with its fun mix of cucumbers, radishes, onions, and tomatoes, adding a refreshing crunch to every bite. Our server kept drinks full and service smooth, even with a large group. Everyone at the table loved their entrées, and I'd highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for hearty, flavorful food in a clean and welcoming setting. I'll definitely be back!
