I have not eaten here but some of my coworkers have and this is what they experienced on their last visit recently. They found a frozen cockroach in their tea and mentioned it to the manager and they acted like it was no big deal. I don't know about you all but this is kind of a big deal to me and they didn't even offer to give them a break on the meal. I was going to try their food but on second thought nah. The service was slow but the thi g that got me the most is that I ordered a margarita and wasn't happy with it, it was way too sweet and I couldn't even drink it. I told the waitress and she did nothing, when we got ready to leave she gave me the check with the margarita still on there. I didn't drink it and I have never had a restaurant charge me for something g that wasn't made right. Shame on you guys!! That's not good business. Good portions, great prices. Service was fine as well on this Friday night. My daughter had the Kid's plate of corn dog bites & fries and my son and I split an order of fajitas with rice and beans $10.49. This was a lot of food and we were stuffed! I'm incredibly disappointed by the food at this joke of a "TexMex" restaurant. I had something that had a chalupa, burrito, and an enchilada. The burrito was literally a flour tortilla rolled up with refried burnt beans and some kind of meat. And then the enchilada was so nasty with this fake sauce they put on it that made my stomach turn. The salad that came with it has cheese on it.... WHY?? Not even queso fresco, BUT LIKE AMERICAN GRATED CHEESE. WHAT IS THAT. To top it off. I don't know why everyone says this salsa is amazing... Guys. It's literally Tostitos salsa. This is not homemade. You can always tell how the food will be based on the salsa. We should have known from the first chip. AND NO HORCHATA??? Honestly, the margaritas were awful. I tried a house and a swirl and I couldn't finish. My dinner was good - I had the chicken chimichanga, however my husband and son didn't like their food at all. Finally! A Mexican restaurant that makes the perfect Chile relleno. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with big smiles and we're given a huge bowl of warm, crispy chips and salsa. We could hear the staff in the kitchen laughing and singing Spanish songs which was nice. Then my chile relleno plate arrived and, man oh man, I fell in love at first bite. It was stuffed with tasty ground beef with little bits of potato and cheese and was covered with the most delicious Ranchero sauce I've ever had. I'm very picky about rice at Mexican restaurants but they have it down, moist and seasoned well. My husband said he loved the refried beans because they reminded him of his abuela's. We told our waiter that we were very impressed with our food and he told us they have specials every day. Too bad Terrell is a 30 min. drive from home or we would be there weekly. I got the lunch special for $5 something. It came with an enchilada, a guac tostado, and a taco. The enchilada was good but would not stay together after cut and put on fork. The bottom side of the taco shell turned into a wet soft taco so didn't eat that... And the tostado was just a big tortilla chip with guac on top (I was expecting a little bit more). Crazy! After several years of eating at this restaurant, we finally had enough of the poor customer service from management. On several occasions our fajitas were served either cold or well over well done. When asked at the register if we enjoyed our meal, my husband would let them know his meal was overcooked and cold. He further explained he didn't eat his meal. The management never apologized, and never offered the meal to be taken off or that we be given a suitable second plate. Never not once! We loved the food & dined there weekly if not biweekly. The staff are amazing, but the management & head cashier are far from friendly and accommodating. After all the years of loyal patronage, we just won't be back due to how poorly we were treated over & over. If you are not happy with your meal, do not expect them to take care of you in any way. There are better restaurants with better customer care in Terrell. read more

One of my favorite places in Terrell. Food is pretty authentic. Only downside is that most of the time the beans are burnt, or I should say, taste burnt. I think it is the bacon or salt pork they are using that is burned, the beans themselves would be great if it was just the beans. Highs: Guacamole that was fresh and not straight from the chiller. Accompanying pico de gallo was equally fresh and tasty and had an extra flavor that was terrific. Salsa had nice kick. Beef tacos had good flavor too. Friendly service. Not so High: Lunch specials weren't. Same brown gravy on beef enchiladas that everyone serves. Beans had strange flavor; rice meh. Pico mentioned above had not been drained before plating and left a runny puddle on the guacamole plate. We're not really El Chico fans, but would go there before returning here. read more

Well, 5 stars is simply not enough! This friendly place greeted us at the door and seated us quickly. we attended to with fresh chips and salsa immediately. Our teas arrived and a refill of chips and salsa was tended to as soon as we got low. Our food was ordered and arrived within 5-7 minutes. I ordered the Mesquite-2 tacos and enchilada. The beef included in both was so perfectly seasoned. The rice and beans were tasTy as well. My husband ordered the chimichanga. He was able to cut it with a fork and it was so delicious. He almost licked his plate clean. There's plenty of staff and they are quickly attentive. I would strongly recommend this place. This place has excellent food. It is always packed so, be prepared to wait 5 or 10 mins for a table. They are very polite and try to get everything out to you in a timely manner. I have been here many times over the years and I can only think of one time I left unhappy and that was on a day the cook called in and 2 waitresses were out sick. read more
