When I came to this driving school my permit was about a month away from expiring on September…read more Laura (if I'm correct) was pretty humble and nice when I first arrived. Like any other driving school, they're only going to offer 6 hours behind the wheel broken up in 3 sessions. I paid $200 up front for those 3 sessions which isn't that bad, but due to her schedule with other students mines were broken into four, 1 hour and a half sessions. I didn't mind since I desperately needed to do something for myself and learning how to drive was one of them. On the same day I paid I got my first so called lesson. Like the other reviewers mentioned, the person behind the wheel does drive the other student back to his or her home, and she definitely does have a lot going on as she's always attending her personal errands through her phone calls. So she had me go to El Monte and with the assistance with the instructor's own pedals and she holding the steering wheel to stabilize me, I dropped off one of her students at their home. Now my lesson could begin, she explained to me what to do while driving, like stopping distance, turn signals, signs, throttle and brake control and all the basics of driving. That 1st day was learning how to use the controls and how to make U turns, but she still assisted me by grabbing onto the steering wheel, braking and accelerating for me, which bugged me because I perfectly knew I wasn't going to learn this way. After that session she told me to practice my driving before my next session and I mentioned to her I didn't have access to a car and she was surprised. She told me to not worry and I confidently thought this was gonna work out fine, I was wrong. The second session was pretty much the same story, the instructor still kept assisting with the brake and accelerator even when it wasn't necessary and she kept grabbing the damn steering wheel! After that session, she told me I still needed a lot of practice I told her again I don't have a car nor someone that would lend me one. The last two sessions was the same story, in my point of view she made something so straightforward and simple very difficult and unenjoyable for me at least. What threw me off was that she wasn't so restrictive with the other students, and their experience and skills of driving was on par to mine. So yeah, don't expect to learn how to drive in 6 hours, especially in sessions. I already had this clear in my mind, but since I have no support from family and friends, I gave this place a shot. TBH I gave the "school" 3 stars just because Laura is a nice person and don't want to do anymore damage to this dilemma. If you're completely new to driving and have no experience operating a vehicle nor have access to a car, don't even bother coming here because you'll be expected to practice after every session on your own. If you're a parent, aunt uncle, older cousin, etc and know how to drive, don't be a jerk and support your younger siblings and teach them how to drive and save them the frustration and time from going to driving courses like these. I'm telling you this from my own experience and current situation as I have absolutely no one to lend me a hand in driving. This is straightforward stuff people, you can show your kids, teens or adults this stuff on your own. If you do decide to give this school a shot, I really hope your experience will be better than mine. Good luck.

Terrible service I sent my daughter hoping she would learn from this school. But laura is very…read moreunprofessional and doesn't seem to care about her work ethic. With me she very rude from the beginning since the very time I called her. she always seemed to have something more Important than teaching my daughter. For example during her lessons my daughter said she would have her drive to her office and sit in the car by herself while Laura went inside. And during my daughter's time with her she would have her drive to go pick up the next student as soon and she stepped in the car sometimes costing her almost that whole 1hour and 30 minute class. My daughter said that she did not like how she taught because it did not feel like she was driving at all because Laura kept stepping on the brakes or pedals when she tried to actually practice driving. Which I understand but how will she learn if she has her hands on the steering wheel 24/7. She would always give my daughter attitude when she would mess up and only tell her she was wrong but did not show how to correct herself. Yet she had time to be on the phone and have a full on conversation with someone else during the lesson. I also did not like her scheduling because she would always push back the appointments because she was "too busy". To top everything off on the last class before my daughter was going to take her drivers test she was very rude to her and all she did was discourage her and talk down on her saying that she would fail the test. She also charged an extra $100 cash to take her to the dmv after she had promised before she was going to and was included with the $360 I gave her up front. Do not recommend at all I don't understand why she still continues to teach if she seems that she hates her job.

They provide true one-on-one attention and take the time to make sure you fully understand maneuvers, pre-trip inspection, and road driving instead of rushing you through training. They also train you on manual (stick shift) trucks, which allowed me to graduate with no transmission restrictions on my CDL, opening up more job opportunities. I highly recommend this school to anyone serious about getting their CDL.

Some of us had to teach at the other older campus which required public or private transportation. I started having fun with the scootuh and traveling long distances, even for hours. It was too slow and dangerous for traveling along highways. Pretty soon within 5 years I finally bought a new HD Night Train with 1450 CCs, something pretty rare at the time in that country. It wasn't my first choice but it resembled a 1970s chopper. The riding test for motorcylces was too simple: ride in a number 8 pattern without touching the ground with your feet, which can be accomplished in a few minutes. The written test in English was even easier. I rode for 7 years and wasn't aware I was riding unsafely. It's a miracle I only had two minor accidents at very low speeds, one on my scootuh and the other on my motorcycle. Both were by people who opened the passenger doors, subsequently knocking both the scootuh and motorcycle sideways on two different occassions. I wasn't found at fault on both of those accidents (only 10% on the bigger bike) and the other parties paid for everything. I stopped riding altogether for 13 years after I returned to my home. I was overcoming several things througout the years, especially my mother's sudden death which really messed me up. I was her caregiver for many years and it was time to move on, so I decided to finally resume riding again. I sold my convertible and my mother's Volvo. Driving cars just doesn't have that joy it once had when I was younger. My goal was to get a late 50s or early 60s chopper many years ago but I settled for the Night Train at that time. Now I wanted something more adventurous like a dual sport because that cool era of riding chopped bikes is long gone. Taking this course really piqued my interest in sport bikes especially when I heard Ron and Carbon talk about their adventures. It's about the ride, not the image. I mean at least when you mature and get older. That's one of the lessons that I took from this class, even though it wasn't my goal. It was inadvertant because I was still thinking about a 1950s/early 60s chopper a little less than a year ago. But my main goal was to pass the course because I had taken only the written test a year ago at the DMV. I failed the written test twice there because I didn't study hard enough. I assumed it was going to be easy just walking into the DMV after I began the registration process where they take your photo and test your eyesight. A week later I finally passed the written test after studying hard. I was hesitant to take the riding test because of how hard people say it is to pass it. But I thought my 13 years riding experience might be sufficient to pass it. So I was deciding between that and a class like Arroyo's. I hit severe depression and didn't do anything about getting a license for almost a year. I finally decided it was now or never and I registered for Arroyo's, hoping that I would get the certificate in time before my registration process at the DMV expired. It wasn't meant to be and that was good. I didn't need to rush through the process. I assumed that the classes would be easy because I had 13 years of scootuh experience and 7 years riding a big bike. I also had studied well for the written test at the DMV before finally passing it last year. Very little of that mattered as I would later find out. I didn't pass the written test at Arroyo's the first time but I didn't complain. It only compelled me to study harder. I was able to take another class the following week and subsequenlty completed the course. I was surprised by how many mistakes and bad habits I had when I took this class. As a result of taking this course, I retook the DMV written test today and passed it. I only made one mistake, which I knew but hesitated to change my answer. The primary lesson that stood out from this class is the concepet of expert rider. I don't think I aimed for that goal while riding abroad from 2001-2013. I was having too much fun especially in a country where laws are subjective and controlled chaos reigns supreme. Both Carbon and Ron are competent instructors and I did enjoy some of their humor. The only complaint I have is that one of the bikes wasn't functional, even though I was making mistakes. A week later, I saw a student on that same bike experiencing ignition problems with it. Ron finally took it away to be repaired and replaced it with another bike. I hope to take another class after I get my motorcycle. I read from other older riders online that they've never had an accident. I always heard that it's not if you have an accident but when because all motorcycle riders eventually end up having one. But that's false. I've already experienced two accidents but they could have been avoided if I had been an expert rider.

I also saw the exchanges between the instructor/ owner Mr David and some of his detractors. I decided to make my review as objective as can be and went to his office to see for myself and decide if I will let him take care of my 15 1/2 year-old daughter behind- the - wheel training as per DMV requirements. Firstly, I find Mr David straight-forward, conscientious, accommodating, a no-frills instructor who really cares for his students. Some may find him gruff or rough on the edges when he frankly asks for the height and weight as a pre-requisite for admission to his driving school. He is not "rude" or "body- shaming " as some would claim. He was just making sure that the student would fit in his compact student driver car which is laden with an extra accelerator and brake pedals so that he has complete control of the vehicle when he teaches and this is quite evident of his desire for the student's total safety. Secondly he asks for the student's physical and mental state and refuses blatantly anybody who could possibly endanger himself or others based on the interview and history that the parents would provide or initially not disclose. He was quite thorough with his application and very adamant about the student's punctuality. Based on these, I allowed him to have my daughter under his training and tutelage. True enough after the 6- hour training, pleasant goofiness ( yes, he can be very funny) and his almost seeming parental guidance, my daughter passed and learned the required phase of her training. Of course, mind you, the rest of her 50- hour training still lies on our shoulders as parents or guardians . So I still feel that the unfair comments made by some are not really warranted. As a matter of fact, I will register my second child as soon as he reaches the required age requirement. This, I will recommend him to be the instructor of your child hands down anytime.

To which, the owner was unhelpful, and did not answer any of my questions. Next, he proceeded to skip over everything I just said and ask about my age and asked me to bring a birth certificate. Throughout the 1-minute call, he sounded impatient and unhelpful, and I got none of my questions answered, so I said my thank you and hung up the call. After I posted my google review, the owner responded publicly with my personal phone number and statements about my alleged medical and mental-health history. I never told him that I had severe anxiety, a medical condition, or that I had been released from a mental institution, and none of those statements are true anyway. Our phone call lasted 1 minute I'm surprised he got so much out of that. I called for a driving lesson, not a therapist lol. Anyways save your money and time. There's so many other driving schools in the area, i would not recommend them at all
