Student 1st Driving School Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Student 1st Driving School

I have driven six times already in the streets and everything but I feel I need the finishing touches to pass my drivers test will two hours be enough and will you take me on the freeway?

Two hours may be enough, but it’s hard to tell without having seen you drive. Our instructors would review your skill level and start preparing you for the road test. If they feel you would benefit from additional lessons, they would recommend them…

Do you provide the car for the actual test?

No, we do not. We take students to the DMV to practice and perform mock road tests, but our insurance doesn’t allow us to “rent” the vehicle out.

Hello I don't see any recent reviews, just Yelp AI Assistant response April 2026. Please confirm is your place of business is still available, and is previous pricing listed…

Hello, yes we are still available for business. Our pricing is as follows: 1 lesson is $175 3 lesson…

What type of cars do u guys use? Just want to make sure your fleet is decent.

We have a 2021 mazda 3 and a 2022 Subaru legacy

How much are classes?

$150 for a 2 hour session. We pick up the student from their homes if they live in the San Gabriel Valley or surrounding cities and each lesson is 1-on-1. $420 for 3 2-hr…

Do you issue the certificate after 6 hour lessons?

Yes, but only for students under the age of 18 because it’s a requirement for them to have 6 hours of instruction with a driving school before taking the road test. Anyone over the age of 18 would not need one.

No reviews since Feb 2022. Is this business still open?

Yes, Very much still open! Unfortunately Yelp doesn’t always keep the reviews in chronological order. We had a 5 star review as early as 6 days ago. Also there are dozens of reviews that Yelp thinks are spam and their automated system moves them to…

### 5-Star Review for Edison Truck and Bus Driving School…read more Wow, where do I even start? At 68 years young (retired business exec here), I decided to dive headfirst into getting my CDL Class B P with Hazmat endorsement--no prior truck or bus driving experience whatsoever. I'd just landed a sweet job offer from a local bus company, but I knew I needed some solid training to hit the ground running. A quick AI search led me to Edison, and after digging into reviews, their rep, and all the details I could find, I signed up for their 80-hour program. For two straight months, I threw myself into it--classes four days a week, plus cramming like it was my first rodeo (which it kinda was). And let me tell you, this was hands-down one of the best learning experiences of my life. The whole place feels like family, run by the Freire crew who've been at it for over 30 years with tons of real-deal commercial driving under their belts. They're patient as saints, super knowledgeable, and get the DMV tests inside out--they're with you every bumpy mile of the way. I had an absolute blast! If you're on the fence about a CDL school, skip the hesitation and go straight to Edison. Huge shoutout to my instructors Tonnie Freire, Jordan Freire, and Julio--you guys made it fun, challenging, and totally doable. Couldn't recommend this place more!

I'm writing this review for something that happened a while back. Refund policy at the time was…read morefull refund if requested within a month of signing up. I requested a refund in that timeframe only to be given the runaround and delayed until AFTER 1 month lol so you already know what's coming next.. I wasn't issued a full refund because the 1 month has passed. Instead I was only given a half refund out of "good faith" according to someone named Jesus hahaha. Clearly all of their admin is in on it for it to play out this way. Shady business run by shady people.

Unical Driving School is awesome and affordable. Signing up for the teen 6 hour behind-the-wheel…read moretraining was painless, thanks to the friendly staff. Instructor Edward Wu is a very cool and professional guy. He made me feel confident behind the wheel in just about every daily driving situation. You can often hear him telling you "No worries." Edward was also prompt to pick me up from home at the appointment time. Minus one star because like Helen D. mentioned in a previous review, he can be impatient at times. In my case, he wanted me to promptly take off from a stop sign as soon as I can to a stop (assuming it was clear, of course). Other than this minor incident, I would highly recommend Unical Driving School.

SHORT VERSION: If you wish to pass the driving test, I'd recommend Viva driving school in Pasadena…read more They will teach you everything you need to know about what the DMV will expect. If you wish for a cheap driving school, this school will do $60 per 2-hr session but you won't learn as much and you will probably get a lot of errors during the driving test. LONG VERSION: The overview of my scenario: I took two 2-hour driving sessions with 'Unical Driving School' and a 1-hour driving session + DMV servicing with another school called 'Viva Driving School'. 4 NOV 2013: Called to schedule my appointment, and the receptionist who I talked to wasn't rude, but didn't explain to me much about their programs either. All she said was "$60 for 2 hours". I made an appointment anyway because it was VERY cheap compared to other schools. 6 NOV 2013: It was the day of my appointment. The instructor was supposed to be here at 1:45pm, but he (Edward Wu) came 10 minutes late. He was very nice, so I decided not to mark him for being late. I told him it was my first time driving, so he drove around for 15 minutes, but he didn't really teach me anything while he was driving. It was my turn to drive, and I did "pretty well for a first time driver" (in the words of Mr. Wu). We drove around Monterey Park, and occasionally, he would tell me to slow down when no cars were around, and then tell me to speed up when cars started to line up behind me. It got pretty annoying. Occasionally, he would go on his phone and not really pay attention to how I was driving. At the end of the lesson, he wanted me to schedule another appointment, and I did it (which I knew I would regret) because I felt like I didn't really learn anything. 7 NOV 2013: This time, he was 20 minutes late... minus one star. He taught me how to change lanes, which was great, but he did the same thing as he did yesterday (telling me to slow down and speed up)... minus another star. That's all he taught me for that day... Same thing as yesterday, he was on his cellphone, plus, he would occasionally yawn. He wanted me to schedule another appointment, and that's when I felt that he was doing that on purpose to make more money. 12 NOV 2013: This was the day I had my DMV driving test. I decided to try 'Viva Driving School' in Pasadena because they had a special package where they do DMV Servicing (they take you to the DMV at the day of your test, and let you use their car to take the test) plus a 1-hr driving session prior to the test. They taught me a lot about what was expected on the test, things that weren't discussed from 'Unical Driving School'... minus TWO stars. I learned WAY more in 1 hour with 'Viva Driving School' than I did in 4 hours with this school.

I had always been really nervous about getting behind the wheel but Luis was incredibly patient and supportive and he made the lessons enjoyable. He made sure I felt comfortable at every step, which made a huge difference in building my confidence. The staff at the school, including the secretary, were all super nice as well and really flexible with scheduling my lessons, which I appreciated since I have a pretty busy schedule.
