I bought the DMV test Assistance package and my instructor Allen Lee was amazing! Coincidentally our families are from the same countries, and our names are similar! But more than that, Mr. Lee was absolutely patient and fostered a truly safe teaching/driving experience. His voice was kept low and his actions familiar; calm, cheerful and reassuring--compared to other people who have taught me driving, Mr. Lee was the perfect person for the job. Any concerns I brought up to him, we promptly practiced until comfortably done. He also gave great tips that worked as great reminders during the test. I would never recommend this service. I was with an old lady in a corolla with an analog speedometer, and She was grumpy all the time, and to add, she couldn't hear really well, so I was uncomfortable the whole timeI regret taking this service. I've used their services before when the triple AAA driving school wasn't working well with my schedule. I had just recently come back from school out of state and my main goal was to get my license this year. I got assigned to Luis and he is so chill and relaxed. He was very kind and patient and made sure that I was calm while I was driving. Today was the day I took the test and I passed with only 5 errors. Yolanda could not have been more amazing!! I'm a Canadian who has been driving for 10 years but recently moved to California and did my CA driving test. Yolanda met me at the DMV and we took an hour to drive around and get familiar with the vehicle. Highly recommend Yolanda's Driving School! My daughter had a fantastic experience with her instructor, Fred, and passed her driving test on the first try. He really did an excellent job of giving her confidence and preparing her well for everything to expect on the test. We were amazed to see her transform from a nervous driver to a really good driver who enjoys driving. Took over 6 lessons and was told I would pass each time. Failed drivers test twice. Instructors were on their phone during lesson.

Maybe my experience is a one-off, but very disappointing to say the least. I needed to re-learn to drive as I hadn't driven a car for several years. I told Yolanda from the beginning that my expectation is to learn to drive as if I were a new driver. She just sat in the car without providing any real instructions for 2 hours. Specifically asked her on how to parallel park, for example, but she didn't provide any practical pointers/instructions. What threw me off to write this review is that today was my 2nd appointment with them for a freeway driving lesson, but no one showed up. Called them to find out what happened and Yolanda said she didn't see my name in their appointment list. So I paid them $150 for pretty much driving on my own for 2 hours and wasted my time for another appointment they somehow forgot. Not a good experience at all. read more

If I could give a 10 star rating I would!! Yolanda saved me the stress of teaching my daughter the ways of the road better I could have. Not because she's a young teenager .. but the fact that's she's older (21) and I just don't feel I myself have the tolerance to do it now verses 6 years ago ...LOL You can be the best driver out there, but if you yourself haven't taken a behind the wheel test in the last 40 years..... chances are you may fail. And I didn't want that chance for my daughter. I did my homework trying to find the right fit for my daughter (cause that's what moms do) I read over 100's of reviews from schools all around. I found that Yolanda's driving school would be the prefect fit. I signed my daughter up for 6 hours and was ready to get my girl ready to hit the road. After my daughters first lesson I was pleased that my daughter was happy, confident and most importantly comfortable with Yolanda. At that moment I was happy I took the time to find the right school. After her first lesson she said Yolanda was very nice, calm, careful, gave great information and most importantly she doesn't yell ( like I sometimes do..lol) She showed her not only the proper ways of the road she also prepared my daughter for "todays" drivers test behind the wheel at the dmv and what to expect. I honestly don't think I would have prepared my daughter correctly if it was me teaching her. The things they ask the driver to do for before the test I never would have thought of. Only because it was something I was never asked when I took my test years ago. But in the end I'm happy to say my daughter passed on her first try and only had 2 points deducted from her actual driving test. I'd say that's pretty darn good Thank You Yolanda!! You are the best!! My review is specifically scheduling appointments and transparency. While the actual instruction is very good, when you first book, they ask if your driver has any issues that may impair driving (eg ADHD, anxiety, etc.) presumably so that can be taken into consideration. First lesson was with an instructor that worked well with my daughter, as she had a particular issue. When I called to book the second appointment, I first texted SPECIFICALLY requesting Instructor X than later called. When I called, I SPECIFICALLY DETAILED at length why I wanted to have consistency and ended by saying we will book "whenever Instructor X" is available. I was told they had nothing available until Saturday. On Saturday, 10 minutes before her lesson is going to start, a DIFFERENT instructor contacted us saying he would be there, which is the exact thing that exacerbates her issue and I was trying to avoid. My daughter decided to take the lesson, although he offered to cancel, as he was 10 minutes out. I told my daughter I was going to call because my guess is they just wanted to fill up appointments, and nothing will come of it as it will be chalked up to a 'mistake' with an apology. When I called, I the person who answered was half listening and half having another conversation on the side, then told me she would have the receptionist call to see what happened. AS PREDICTED, the receptionist called with a laundry list of excuses, 'there was no notation for specific driver, but you can ask' (AGAIN I had a 5 minute explanation when I booked why I wanted Instructor X and why consistency was important and had even texted prior for Instructor X, so would seem an obvious point to make that notation.) Then I was told sometimes they book geographically, (again when I say "We will book WHENEVER Instructor X is AVAILABLE" I am not even sure how that is relevant. If a specific instructor can't be accommodated I want to be told up front OR if they need to be changed at the last minute I want to be told ahead of time. None of that is what happened. There was no "confusion" on the booker, as I made clear my need for consistency, they just want to book open appointments, and hedged the bet we would take it and apologize on the back end which is exactly what happened. The apology with 'assurances for next time and noting on the chart' is pretty empty since obviously I will be making sure we have Instructor X and should have been done when I called for the second appointment. I was terrified to learn how to drive, I'm an "older" learner and I have PTSD, and I have tried several driving instructors but never come close to taking the driving test. After just one lesson I started looking forward to driving lessons and a few weeks later I PASSED MY DRIVING TEST!! I still can't believe it sometimes. My daughter started her lessons at Yolanda's Driving School in late January 2022 with Christian. He is very calm and pleasant. My daughter finished her 6 hours in March. My daughter's learner's permit expired in April but her driving test was in July. No extensions given. She had to retake her driver's permit, again! Anna was as so helpful with providing testing guides and helping me with all the paperwork- what to keep, what to ask DMV, etc. Testing day in July 2022, Piedad met my daughter at Pasadena DMV for one hour lesson prior to the test.
