We needed to rent and RV for EDC and decided to book here since a lot of other rental locations were all booked up. This was the first tome we ever rented an RV but overall we had a pretty good experience. The staff does a thorough walkthrough of the RV with you in the beginning to give you a rundown of everything you need to know and also marks down any preexisting damages so you won't get charged for then later. They also provide a packet with all the information. The check in process was fast and took around 30 minutes. The return process was smooth and had no issues there either. However, the RV could have been cleaned a little better prior. We found a broken press-on nail and some chips in the corner but we did not bring chips nor did anyone have press-on nails. read more

Not a good experience. Do not rent from this location. They sent us off with an RV with a bad battery. No help from them and no credit. We had to to charge the battery if we turned off the RV and wait over an hour for the RV to start again. Luckily we had packed a car charger. We were dry camping and had no power the majority of the time because of the battery and generator issues. If you ask for AAA discount they lie and stat you already used a discount code when booking, UNTRUE!!! They would not honor the AAA discount after we were told they would when we dropped it back off. We could not refil the gas because the battery would not hold a charge and to stop would have been a problem so they completely over charged us for gas. How about you check the batteries before you send people out with an RV they PAID for with working equipment?? The hours on the paperwork don't match anything with this business on the pick up times. There is nothing positive to say about the experience with El Monte RV.... Nothing. The mattress had gross stains all over it and uncomfortable crease in the middle. Went to make the bed and they had put a clean flat sheet over the mattress to hide the disgusting stains. The toilet bowl was dirty with poop when we picked up. The freezer would not stayed shut and we had to use duct tape to keep it closed. How this place stays in business is beyond me. This was supposed to be a fun time meeting up with friends and having a comfortable place to sleep and use the bathroom. We were lucky to have packed battery lanterns or we would have been screwed.. Looked online for prices and units to rent for our 8 day trip to South Dakota. We stumbled across El Monte RV and I am so glad we did. I called before we went down just to make sure they had some units we could look at and they did. We drove down and met with Sal and he showed us the medium and large unit, for our trip we didn't want any slide outs since we were leaving really early in the mornings from the campsites and didn't want to have to make a lot of noise or packing before we went off. We were able to get a 2024 Sun Seeker 2950 model and it was just perfect. It was enough room for 4 of us and the 2 kids had a blast. We traveled just about 3,000 miles and it was the best way to travel with kids. We had no issues with the RV and it was a smooth check in, check out transition. The staff was good as was the motor home I rented. When going in to sign the rental agreement I told the person 2 times I was going to use my own insurance and not pay for thiers I have AAA. When they filled out the application and still included thier ins company for 148.50. When I brought the RV back I brought it to the attention of the person checking it in who was the same person who went over the contract with me. He said he would talked to the manager about the charge, after a few days I got an email stating I signed and read the contract therefore no refund. I guess losing clients is ok so I'll find someone else next year to rent from. read more

So my fathers RV has been stored here for a couple years now. They have had multiple break in's and we've never been notified. The catalytic converter was stolen and they did not make one attempt to notify! What they did let us know was 13 other rvs were hit also but stated " because yours is so old we didn't think they took anything"! What the bell kind of establishment is this!! Beyond ridiculous! San Bernardino El Monte RV office staff were friendly and helpful. We rented a Class C RV for Presidents Day weekend and the motorhome was clean and ready to go. During our trip we found that the Microwave and TV/DVR didn't work. We called the hotline and didnt get much help, During our return, we were told that the microwave was unplugged (?) Not sure how or why. The TV was found to be bad. One person in our camp mentioned that they've used El Monte in the past and had several issues, including, an oven issue during one of their trips. They called the hotline folks and were told that someone was driving out to make the repairs. Apparently they were left without power for the vacation because nobody ever showed up. They now use Cruise America for that reason. I noticed other people that were returning while we were there. They were using the same $50 voucher that they offered us for our problems. Then the other customer told me that they give that voucher to everyone at check in, it wasn't because of our issues. Not that our issues completely ruined our trip, because it didnt. The frustrating part is, if you want to speak to someone at the main office, you cant get in contact with them. Its either by mail or email. It is now Sunday, check out time and we have only received minimal assistance. Told to run the motor for 30 mins and then press the button to retract the awning. That's hasn't worked. It is now check out time, the park is booked a can't extend the stay nor move the unit. Elmonte RV has us all in a queue for hours without answering the call...it's 8 of us calling hoping anyone of us get through. If we leave the unit we'll be charged a $2k abandonment fee! We rented from El Monte and had a wonderful experience. Being new to the RV world, this was causing stress as our daughter desired to rent one for her birthday. We began looking around, even on the RV sharing sites. This only caused more anxiety. We decided to just go speak with them and immediately felt relieved as they were simply great and answered all our questions. In addition, I felt as though the prices were competitive. We worked with Valerie when we went in to reserve, then again at pick up, then again at drop off. She is phenomenal. Such a delight. There was another young lady with fun hair that assisted us with the initial walkthrough. I apologize as her name escapes me. She too was very patient and incredibly helpful. We have been burned before renting jet skis (obviously not at El Monte). This made me nervous so I proceeded to videotape the walkthrough. She did not skip a beat and welcomed it. Interestingly enough, as someone who has never used an RV before, I found it incredibly helpful and reference the video throughout the weekend to refresh and learn all that she taught us during that walkthrough. During drop off, Valerie did the walkthrough and made checkout extremely easy. We were in and out fairly quickly and they did not try to burn us as I experienced with the jet skis. Thank you El Monte, thank you Valerie, and thank you to the other girl. We appreciate you. As for the RV, we rented a class c 22. It was very easy to drive, very clean, and lots of fun. I recommend finding a campground with full hook ups or really nice showers as the grey water tank can fill up quicker than you think. Again, we would highly recommend El Monte's RVs. We have already recommended a friend that has proceeded to rent from them with a positive experience. We have also recommended them to another friend looking to rent that I believe will do so. Not a bad place to get your RV Rental. The customer service was good and the RV was clean. My only complaint was the quality of the RV we received. There were many features which were broken or "fixed" poorly and broke upon touch. Also, the RV was not aligned and was extremely bumping during our 3.5 hour drive. Again, not bad if you just need to rent an RV for a quick weekend, but I wouldn't have above standard expectations. We recently bought a prior rental from El Monte RV in San Bernardino. So far, I have no complaints about the RV itself. We've already had it out for a weekend trip, and everything seems to work fine. I've purchased plenty of vehicles in my life and have shopped around and tried bargaining for many more...so I'm not new to sales games. Our salesman, Brian, was personable, and I didn't feel that we were pressured to buy. There's something to be said for a small lot such as El Monte RV...it's a much more pleasant experience to browse and test drive there, compared to some of the nearby five-mile long lots with 30 or more salesmen ready to attack. Brian informed us that we can take our RV back to them for servicing, which I was very happy to hear. I'd prefer to have a close-by mechanic that is already very familiar with what we have. One slight inconvenience was having to drive to Santa Fe Springs to complete the paperwork. I'm not sure if this is required for all transactions, or if we had to do that because we wanted to take delivery in less than a week. I was just surprised that we couldn't do it right then and there...but again, it is a small, satellite location, so things may not quite work they way they do at larger dealerships (which was what we wanted to avoid, anyway!) I would have seriously given them 5 stars if I felt they had better communication skills, with each other as well as with the customers. I get the feeling there is animosity between some of them within the company, and I had a difficult time getting calls returned and resolution about something that was really a VERY minor issue, because of the "blame game". I feel that more of a "customer first" approach to complaints or problems would be a good business practice. Overall, very happy with our purchase. read more

My husband and I rented a 30 foot RV for our 4 day trip with our 3 kids June 2019. Everything seemed ok, aside from cleanliness in my opinion when we first took off. My kids feet were filthy from walking around and my oldest daughter mentioned she saw "bugs" where she slept. I told her it must be spiders and to not worry, as kids are kids. Once we returned home my daughter (10 years old) stated her scalp was itchy and that it had been getting worse since a few days into the trip. I assumed she must not be washing it good enough so I purchased head and shoulders. 3 or 4 days later, I decided to wash her hair for her because she's telling me the head and shoulders isn't helping which I find odd. Come to find out my 10 year old has full blown head lice that I'm pulling out of her scalp with tweezers. Then we discover full blown head lice in my 5 year old daughters hair, all nested at the crown of her head. ( they shared the same sleeping area and hair brush during our RV trip). I'm at this point i am in tears and guilty of not being more observant when the signs were all there. Needless to say my husband and I have spent the last 4 days dealing with what our exterminator ( yes, another expense to properly diagnose) says is " head louse" a type of head lice apparently which he says is common in filthy places one would rest their head etc. Along with $125 spent on head lice treatments and ripping my home apart to ensure it's clean , this has been a total nightmare. My kids have never had lice or head louse, had been out of school for weeks prior to our trip and don't go to daycare. We are positive the uncleanliness of our particular RV at El Monte RV in San Bernardino WAS the cause. We are disgusted by the negligence of El Monte RV by not properly cleaning sleeping areas. Regardless if they choose to take responsibility, we trusted that our experience would be a good one, and that our hard earned money would be spent with clean accommodations. This is a basic necessity- a clean place to share with our kids on the road. This has been a NIGHTMARE with three children. The cost alone has been huge for us. Aside from $125 for shampoos we had to purchase new bedding, as I was so disgusted when we found out I threw most away. I had to purchase extra laundry detergents and more head lice shampoo as we ran out and my husband and I were told to also do the hair treatment as a precaution. We are still continuing shampoo treatment, as we have to ensure the "nits" or eggs laid by the lice have not hatched or are picked/ combed out. Have you ever gone through multiple heads with a fine tooth comb? A nightmare!!! If I can help any family avoid this I hope this post at least brings caution or awareness. Watch out if you are accustomed to honest salespeople and detail-oriented service. Maybe a part of the 'RV culture' but this place is right next to their RV sales office so you will get a tour of their new or almost new fixed up units ready for sale. Don't think that these are the vehicles they rent--fine print states they can substitute any vehicle in your chosen category even if it is not even close to the one you looked at on the walk-through. That's right: Bait and Switch. If you read the policy carefullly, they get to keep regular maintenance costs down because YOU are the one fixing it when it breaks on a trip and then they re-imburse you for the parts. Do they reimburse you for labor? What about aggravation? What about time lost from vacation? Nope--nothing cheaper and more effective than a desperate vacationer who is dragging an RV loaded with family around to get something fixed QUICK. Much cheaper than keeping a highly paid and trained technician crew. You might get something with lots and lots of miles on it with broken furniture, etc in it. And if you find out on a day they are closed, you get stuck with the rental fee...as well as the responsibility of keeping it safe. Check out Better Business Bureau and check on their corporate license from the CA Secretary of State. In the end, don't take my opinion at face value--standards of caring for customers may be different in the RV rental industry than mine--the kind of customer care we got, in my line of work, would land me major citations and customer compliants at best and de-accreditation and out of business at worst. However, they probably compare pretty ok with some used car lots or pawn shops. In my humble personal opinion, if you are dead set on going RV (instead of staying at hotels/motels and flying/driving yourself cuz it ain't that much cheaper), then look into buying a new one and then returning it if you are not satisfied or going with a business that treated us right...like SoCal RV in Riverside. Decent company, but the rental office is run by a couple 30-something girls who just follow a training video. When we got the RV home before we left for vacation, my husband had to tighten and replace several screws. The dining storage area was full of previous renters' stuff and spare dirty hubcaps for the cab. After 2 days in 20-degree weather in Arizona, my husband finally figured out how to fix the broken heater. The only things that get checked are scratches and dents. Seriously?? When I returned the camper with an empty waste water tank, I was not refunded the $25 dumping fee that I was told would be credited back if I dumped myself. She said, "it's in the contract." Nope. It says there is a fee IF the holding tank is returned undumped. Nothing about being nonrefundable. I asked for my $18 of extra miles to be free instead, but of course was denied. Instead I got a $50 credit for my next rental. Are you kidding me?? It is hard enough to get vacation from work, let alone within a year of this rental, and from a company that doesn't even do proper maintenance/checking/cleaning of the vehicles? And $50 off a $1000-plus rental is not very encouraging. That is not even a half-tank of gas. I think I will spend the extra money and use a different company next time. read more

I recently rented with El Monte RV and it was a great experience from first call to when I returned the RV. I rented out of San Bernardino and everything exceeded my expectations. Felicia helped answer some questions when I first called, then when I arrived to rent the RV she was quick and informative with all the paperwork and showing me and my wife how to use the RV. When we got in the RV it was almost brand new, the interior and exterior was clean, the bathroom was clean, it was perfect. Will definitely be renting for all our trips now. Thanks! The reservation experience was easy and they covered everything! On the day of rental, the rental person was great! She went through everything and made sure i understood what was going on. The walk-though was easy and quick. She showed me how to do everything that needed to be done and answered any questions I had. The 6 days we had the RV went off without a hitch. Everything worked very well and we had no difficulties. On the day of return, the check out person went through everything very quickly. When we went to pick up the RV it looked like it hadn't been cleaned. The floor was dusty and the corners had dust bunnies. We found a pringles container on the floor and a baseball cap behind the seat. The countertops were sticky. In the bathroom there was hair on the shower walls, the shower head, and the toilet. The refrigerator smelled like something died in there. We had to clean the RV ourselves and had to put up with the awful smell for our entire trip. We were disappointed with the lack of cleanliness, we hadn't planned on doing a deep cleaning before using the RV. read more

When picking up the Rv it took longer than expected, we decided to buy there insurance,Felicia said we had 1,000 coverage. Upon returning the rv there was a really light rub on the paint on the side of the rv and i asked her again what the coverage was and she said 1,000 and at no point did she explain in any detail all the exemptions too the insurance. I get a call back 1 week later saying i owe $ 110.00 for the fix . I asked her than what did the coverage fix and then she changed it to it had a 1,000 deductible. My family and i came to rent a motorhome. You can see that the reps were busy. (They had only 2 reps) Bu the way: we came into the lot at 4:20ish and they closes at 5 that day. The woman rep looked pretty pissed off that we came late and she probably knew she wasn't going to get out of work on time (sorry honey) As soon as we walk in we try to talk to a woman that works there asking her if she can help us our rent a motorhome and she was answered very annoyed "i dont have any motorhomes to rent..." And we asked her if she can check for us. Obviously we knew that she was going to give us a hard time and so we hoped the other representative can help us instead. Thankfully he was the rep that helped is out. We really definitely appreciated his services rendered. He was very patient and cooperative with us. He answered all of our questions in a great manner. All the people at El Monte RV have been fantastic. My first experience was great. This last experience was horrific causing us to cut our vacation short. We reserved an RV that sleeps six adults. On the day of pickup, as we are all ready to go, we were presented with a new 2017 Thor Windsport. Alarm one--- its a Thor. As we were being taken through our inspection we find out that the loft bunk is broke. Now we are down to 4 adults sleeping and no time to make other arrangements. WTF- really? Considering they knew this, why wasn't I notified days before so I could figure something out. Why should I have to pay full price? With an anxious family I had to bite my tongue and deal with it the best I could. After an 800 mile trip to our destination. Parts falling off the RV interior, shower coming apart and toilet leaking we thought we had been through it all. Nope... Did I mention El Monte is converting their fleet to Thor? No sooner did we finally manually level the RV since the auto levelers would not work. We all tried to watch some tv and unwind. Well all the TVs have one small speaker ... They are not integrated into the sound system of the RV. Imagine everyone in the RV trying to huddle around earbuds playing at full volume. Completely useless. I won't go into the disaster the leaking toilet caused later. The only thing you need to know is that the RV was a Thor and the sensors for the tanks were wrong. With a frustrated and unhappy family sleeping in cramped 4 person RV... We finally just said screw it and cut the vacation early. There is no refund for doing that but the awful experience was worth the cost of not being stuck in that Thor any longer. The trip home continued the assault of things breaking and falling off. On return of the RV I explained the issues. They said it was normal with the Thors but they are replacing their Fleetwood and Bounders with them because they are cheaper. I agree... Never had an RV disintegrate with less than 6000 miles on it so I can't imagine what the heck it will be like after 20000 especially considering they did not repair the bunk before renting it to me. If they replace their fleet with Thors I will be renting else where. I rather pitch a tent and stick hot pokers in my eyes before renting a Thor. So you can bet I will call El Monte next year and see if I can rent a Class A that is not a Thor but highly doubt I will do that either. It will be given to me with something else broken I rented and can't use. read more

Went down to look at renting an RV class A. When I got there the lady said she didn't have any 34 class A's on the lot but I could go out to the sale lot and find one of the two salesman and ask them to show me one they had for sale. She stated she was sick. Awhile later my wife wanted to see a class C. She wanted to look at the ones they rented. The three used ones ,two were locked and the third they were working on. The lady said the one one the end was a 31ft. I told her I just looked at it and it was not, with she shot out of the office and walked down to it telling me I was wrong. One of the salesman was standing there and told her, no it was a 24 ft. Said the one was open and they were done working on it. When my wifr an I got to it there was a big glob of spit in front of the door. Then we went into the office to how much it would cost to rent. Again she kept telling how sick she was, then when we got to the part about towing a vehicle she told me you could only tow 1500 lbs. We I tried to talk to her about it, being I rented from them in the past an never had a problem towing a car trailer. She told me I was rude to her, even though she never brother to show us a rental or apologize for being wrong about about the size of the 24ft Rv. Will not go back. read more

After an examination of the vehicle and a walkthrough of operation of the unit you are on your way. Fast processing by the staff is appreciated. I rented a rv from there San Bernardino location and on first inspection the RV looked fine. When driving and brakes applied the RV smelled like poop and no one used the restroom. Upon camping the generator kept turning off. Air conditioning didn't work because generator kept shutting off. Had a horrible weekend due to smell and no ac and no electrical outlets working. I delivered the RV on return and the ladies there discovered a tear on the roof. I never inspected the roof only the sides. I didn't hit anything or get near anything to dent the top. The ladies lied and said the top was fine when they never looked on top only when returned. She credited me a day for the generator and charged me 800.00 for the torn top i didn't tear. So not cool. I would not recommend that location at all. The Santa fe branch is much more professional. She then called me to look into the generator and no call back nothing. Be carful renting from them as they seem lazy and don't check there rvs properly and let you take junk out there and risk your comfort when on vacation. read more

You have to pay attention to details when you come here. Especially when you do the walk around to check for damages. If you don't the damages they will make you pay. When we returned the RV she found a smudge on the paint, we didn't catch it but on the return she ZEROED in on it, almost like she new it was there. The paint smudge could have easily been cleaned with polishing compound in about 5 min. Since we bought the $1000.00 dollar coverage we didn't give it much thought. Nope, we still had to pay over $100.00 for the repair and we should have been thankful because she worked the numbers for us to help us out(SMH). They do clean the vehicles before you take them but they still have a wired odor we still had to clean it to take the smell away. As for the experience, we loved it has such a great time. Having your own personal restroom wherever you go priceless. We will rent a RV again probably not from this place. We have rented a motorhome from El Monte RV every Thanksgiving and other vacations for over 20 years. To reserve, I always call Felicia at the San Bernardino, CA location because she makes us feel like we're her only customer! Of course, it's very easy to reserve online. The motorhomes are always clean and reliable. They are never more than 2-3 years old and are very pretty inside. I had a great experience from the first call. I booked via phone and I am so glad I called in because the lady I spoke with told me about a special they had going on and it saved me lots of money. So if you are looking to book an RV I suggest you call and see if they have any current specials. I had a few questions before pick up date and everyone was very helpful and answered all my questions. Chris Guzman made the whole pick up ad drop off process very easy and made sure that my insurance binder was done correctly. The RV was given to us with a full tank of gas and full tank of fresh water. It was my first time ever staying in an RV and we loved it! We will be renting from this location again because they were very clear with their pricing and rules and instructions on how to use everything in the RV. The employee who checked out the RV was thorough in documenting any pre-existing dings to the RV, both inside and out. He thoroughly went over everything about the RV.
