Cozy, comfortable coffee shop. Lots to choose from. A great assortment of teas, lattes, and baked goods. I got the affogato. I was kinda expecting more espresso than the one shot for the 2-ish scoops of gelato. It was yummy nonetheless. I'll have to get it again to see if that's their standard way of making it. The Barista was flying solo so it was kinda slow moving. I get it. It was the end of the day very near closing. She probably didn't expect so many of us to bombard the shop. Finding new coffee shops is one of my favorite things. This morning, my wife and I decided to try El Monte, which I've had bookmarked. It was a great stop! On a quiet Sunday morning, stopping here for coffee and pastries was perfect! The store is located on a side street in Chester. It's a small place, but there are tables inside and out. On a nice day, outside seating looks the way to go. The coffee was delicious! With it, my wife had an apple turnover and I had a blueberry scone. A nice place to have coffee and a bite to eat. Any style of coffee you can think of, hot or cold. The baked items were surprisingly good, even the corn muffin tasted special! Beyond the basics, they have uniquely flavored empanadas with brie, cranberry and guava, and even pulled pork. Oh, and the empanadas are crimped with their name (see photo)! All the little touches add up, as well as the big things, like cheery & attentive customer service. What's the best thing about El Monte? The coffee ice cubes obviously. I am a huge fan of coffee ice cubes because I am a huge fan of iced coffee. They do not offer cold brew, but they have iced coffee and the strength and flavor of their coffee is to die for. It's so delicious and I love getting their iced coffee with oat milk. Not only is their coffee delicious but so are their pastries and empanadas. Their empanadas have a great flavor and spice to them. You can tell everything there is made fresh. The owners are so wonderful and nice, always greeting you and saying goodbye when you head out. The staff members are very nice as well - patient and will answer any questions you may have. Always welcomed with a smile and great service. Only thing better is the coffee. Strong and fresh! They add the cream in for you so be specific. I also love the turnovers, muffins, and bona bread. Dogs on the front patio may actually be the best part of coming to El Monte! My wife prefers this to Starbucks BIG TIME for the service, taste and they use frozen coffee ice cubes in the iced coffee. This place has the BEST smoothies! I always get the mango smoothie. They have ripe mangos sitting on the counter and they cut those up to put in the smoothie with either yogurt or ice cream...no frozen purée here! They will also fill your cup WAY up if there is extra in the blender, as shown in the picture. I always am a HUGE fan of their spanakopita. It is sooooo good. The atmosphere is comforting. It is a small cafe so not great for larger groups but if you are going on a coffee date with 2-4 people this is the place to go! I know Starbucks is right across the street but COME HERE. I have not had their coffee so I can't review on that but I am sure it is awesome too. This place is a GEM tuck away from Main Street in Chester. UPDATE: I just got their "Perry St" whole bean coffee for home. I brewed it using my French press and it is the BEST coffee I have ever had. Will be getting my at-home coffee here from now on. My first time visiting this cute coffee shop tucked away on the side streets of Chester. As I sit and eat this fluffy golden brown empanada (which I was not expecting to have today nor did I expect to bite into something seasoned so perfectly well at a coffee shop) I found myself wanting to try more. So I did and this is my review. I could try and say I didn't get carried away but this would be a lie. "Please Sr. May I have two scones (chocolate chip and cranberry), two of each empanada (chicken and beef), the breakfast pie, one small matcha latte, a small marbled latte, and a Chi Tea iced with coffee ice cubes." As for the food: from the prefect empanadas to the breakfast pie never would I have expected such great seasoning in flavor. The dough was not flaky but almost buttery more comparable to a french pastry. Unfortunately for the scones like all other dishes flavor was on point but it was under backed. Once cracking into both chocolate and cranberry we were greeted with a soft doughy center. The COFFEE itself was a flop in my opinion; It just tasted BURNT. From the coffee ice cubes down to the marbled latte you could smell burnt coffee before your first sip. To confirm this was not just my taste buds three people all tried each drink and also confirmed this to be true. The amount of disappointment in my face was immense. Not one second since entering this establishment had a line dissipated from the counter. Unfortunately my hope is this was mostly do to the fact that ONE PERSON was working the counter; and as we all know not one person cant handle that amount of work load alone. I will be trying this place again in hopes the Coffee Quality will be much better. read more

I can only speak for their coffee. After years of living in the area, I received a recommendation from yelp and had to give it a try. I ordered 2 bags of flavored decaf coffee (toasted almond and hazelnut) and we are impressed. The prices are reasonable, I paid $23 total. The coffee not only smells wonderful, but tastes even better than it smells! I placed my order through their website, which is easy to navigate, and was able to pick up my order in 20 minutes. It's not too hard to find, and there is plenty of parking! We will be back to try more flavors of coffee and their food soon! read more
