But on the flip side, it looked and sounded like the people at the community "show" tables were having a ball. Lots of birthdays and celebrations. Anyway, great menu. Started with a couple inspired cocktails, and moved on to the fish taco's and lamb chop appetizers. Outstanding. Only nit, our server disappeared, and the app plates were left on table when our main courses showed up. We were also never serviced for another round of drinks. For our mains I ordered the Wagyu filet with asparagas and fried rice sides cooked medium. My dining guest ordered the salmon roll and a side of fried rice. My steak came out gray and rare, no sear crust at all. Very disappointing. On the flip side my dining partners portion of fried rice was astoundingly large, and good. Never did see our server again until the check was brought over. We were not even offered the dessert menu other than the small pineapple sherbet that came with my meal. Parking is brutal here. Very crowded area on weekend. Had a long walk to restaurant entrance. Don't think this will be on my repeat list.

What a dismal experience and grand waste of money…read more Pertinent fact: I'm a pilot and I've eaten Japanese food everywhere, so this isn't my first rodeo. Now on to the facts... The place is nice though a bit dated. The huge koi pond is a nice touch. All the teppan show tables are on one side of the restaurant. The regular tables on the other side. The food was horrendous. There were 6 of us and we ordered 5 different entrees plus an app, so it was a good sampling of everything. I asked the server (who was dripping with an attitude of, "I hate this job and I want to do only the bare minimum..."), what was good. She said the chicken katsu was especially good; so I ordered it. What arrived nearly 25 minutes later was a slab of 1/8th inch thick chicken breast that was so overcooked that it was a hard oval disc. The breading had been over-fried to the point of hockey-puck texture. It was so dry and tasteless that it could have been alligator and I would never have known. Just a hard, dry, tasteless, burnt little slab of chicken with a side sauce that tasted like thick Worcestershire sauce and nothing more. There was barely ANY sweetness (which is critical with Katsu dishes), and zero spice or variation. Just a glop of room-temperature, thick, Worcestershire sauce in a gel-like consistency. It was sooooooo awful that I can't properly describe it. The other dishes were nearly as bad. The tempura was ok. But $28 is a lot of money for tempura. Mine came with a pile of tasteless, very basic "salad" (a pile of lettuce), and a little bowl of white rice. The best description I could muster for all these dishes was, "hospital slop." Then there was the service. Oh my gosh, what a joke. This server dumped the plates on our table and walked off, never to be seen again. She didn't ask how the food was. She didn't refill our waters. . She didn't ask a single thing and we only saw her when we ordered and when we needed the check. No in-between. She literally disappeared for an entire hour. The place is huge and has some 50 tables. We were one of only 3 tables with people in the whole place. She literally disappeared. She only came out after I yelled across the room when she poked her head out from the back for a nano-second. She brought out the check and took our credit cards. The kicker is they add an 18% gratuity for parties of 6 or more. Six? Really? NO WONDER she didn't care : She was making an 18% tip just for breathing. Great gig if you can get it. Overall wvery dish was awful except the filet and shrimp which was decent. And the service was among the worst I've ever had. Just a complete debacle. Stay away from this place. It's truly slop and they charge you a fortune to experience it. Notice how this business has never even claimed their Yelp page? They don't care.
