Came for a birthday dinner with a large group. Luckily we had reservations because the place was packed. Not our first time so ordering our meals went quick. Personally, went with steak and lobster. Our teppanyaki chef was very friendly and entertaining the entire time. We got all the usual egg/food tosses, volcano fire, and fried rice heart throbs haha. Stick to what works right? Everything was cooked nicely and nothing was overcooked at all. Waitress was very attentive our entire meal. We come as a group every year and our experience is consistently great!

We came here for dinner on Christmas night as a party of three and had a 6:45 PM reservation. They were running about 30 minutes behind, so we didn't get seated until around 7:20 PM. It was very busy, which is understandable for a holiday. Once we were seated, things moved pretty smoothly. The wait to order and receive our food wasn't long at all. Our server, Ambiance, was excellent--very attentive, friendly, and on top of everything despite how busy the restaurant was. The inside is big and spacious, so it didn't feel overly crowded. We enjoyed our meals, and my seafood was prepared well and tasted great. Overall, aside from the delayed seating, it was a good experience with solid food and great service, especially on a busy holiday night.

Love this place! Came in for all day happy hour as and manager John at the bar was so kind and wonderful! Great service with a smile. He went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience. I enjoyed a side soup, salad, edamame, salmon and avocado roll add cream cheese and an edamame. Extra shoutout to server Camry who was hard at work and such a sweet helpful presence! And so generous to heat Benihana gifted veterans a full meal the last few days for Veterans Day! Just wow! Bravo!

My fiancé and I went last night for dinner, and we had a wonderful time. The hosts were very friendly, we were sat at a Tenpan table very quickly, and a manager named Tony sat us and explained the experience and was very funny. Our server, Tyree, was nice and super on everything. He took our orders, explained a special, and kept our drinks full. We ate a few different things but unfortunately I kept forgetting to take pictures cause I was hungry. The restaurant was lively and fun, and very clean which is a feat - it was so busy. Oh! At some point I needed to get change and the two bartenders who were working broke my bill and were so nice and great conversation :) I'd highly recommend coming here!

We had really high expectations because it's been a while since we've been to a Benihana's. The last one I went to was in Chandler with my family and we had a really good time, but it was the five years ago. I assumed since this one was in Scottsdale, it would be even nicer than the one in Chandler. I was very surprised at the condition of this location. It looked like it hadn't been remodeled for at least 20 years, the atmosphere was very dated dusty and looked like they hadn't invested anything in years. Even the cook came to start cooking his white coat looked like it was gray severely stained. Definitely no pride. The people at the table all complained about the steak and the condition the food quality. The waitress provided drinks to only half the table and left us waiting for nearly 20 minutes, even to get our water. A couple next to us indicated they had been there before and they were giving it a second chance because the first time they went, it was really horrible service. The prices are high and I wouldn't recommend going. It's just not worth the money sadly... One of the worst valentine dinners I've had.

We have been coming to this location for years and tonight was the best experience yet! We arrived early to get a drink at the bar, where Emmanuel took excellent care of us and made us feel welcome. We were shown to our table at the time of our reservation and our waitress was friendly and prompt. Then our super awesome chef (Gabriel, I think) cooked our food beautifully, entertained us, and even helped us celebrate my husband's birthday. We all left with full bellies and happy spirits. Thanks for a great evening!

The service is awesome but for the foods if you had been eating fried rice you know !? This place made fried rice like idk what to say! But I will give a highligh on scallops and steak is good !

So I'm very torn on this establishment. It's very kid friendly & can be fun with a good Hibachi chef & group. Unfortunately that was NOT our experience. As Yelp Elite (for many years) I review good & not so good places. We decided to do something different this last Friday for dinner. We arrived around 7 & was sat by 7:30. No reservation needed. We had never been to a "chain" restaurant like this. We wanted to do their Hibachi experience. Our table was 7 people. Our Hibachi chefs was "Tim" We ordered a cocktail (wine & a pumpkin side car) At that time we ordered a sushi roll (specifying we wanted it as an appetizer) The waitress (Alexandria) left to place orders. Our table sat silent for 10-15 minuets. Then we placed our main dish order. I ordered the filet mignon medallions with mushrooms, and my friend ordered the Emperor's feast (filet & chicken) we both got fried rice, which is an up charge. The Hibachi chef returned only to leave again for 10mins. We received the miso soup (terrible) Still waiting on our drinks & app to be delivered. The whole experience was a complete FLOP. Nobody could hear the hibachi chef, because it was so loud in there, our main dishes were done before even getting our sushi roll (We had to ask the waitress AGAIN about) You could tell the hibachi chef did not like his job. He wasn't friendly at all, and had a scowl on his face almost the entire time. We were not the only patrons that noticed. The hibachi fried rice was flavorless, and my FILET MINION was overcooked, even asking for it to be medium rare. Our drinks finally came 30mins after ordering. The sushi roll was delicious. THE ONLY GOOD TAKE AWAY FROM THAT ESTABLISHMENT WAS THE PUMPKIN PURÉE SIDECAR DRINK, AND THE SUSHI ROLL WE ORDERED. $180 for 2 people w/o tip was insane. The pumpkin side car (4oz pour) was $17. I wound not recommend this Benihana to anyone looking for a fun experience. I see why it only has three stars.. Never again.

The teppanyaki was flavorful and cooked excellently by chef Michael! The ambiance was definitely a party vibe on Saturday as it should be!

Ask the Community - Benihana - Scottsdale

Do they have a kids menu?

Yes they do. It's pricey but they come with a scoop of ice cream or sherbet for dessert.

What are the teppanyaki prices during dinner? I don't see it in the website.

You can expect to pay over $90 for two if you are ordering 3+ courses

Are the hibachi tables open for lunch reservations?

Yes, but would call to verify! Covid has changed a lot

Wow!! What an incredible experience we had at Kasai Scottsdale…read more This place has a very luxurious feel and the service is top notch. We came in for a birthday party & got one of the Teppanyaki tables. Our waiter was awesome & the Chef for the table was well suited for the job! He was so fun and cracked a lot of jokes that everyone enjoyed. He kept everyone engaged throughout the entire experience. He made everyone at the table catch rice in their mouths- even if it took 5-6 tries per person The food was delicious - the portions were on point. The prices were fair. It's on expensive side, but part of the cost is definitely for the experience, which is well worth it. All in all, everyone had an amazing time. This is the perfect place to come with a group to share some laughs and create a memory that nobody will forget. It is so fun to see your meal cooked right before your eyes & interact with the chef throughout. I've been to similar places in the past & none of them compare to Kasai! We will definitely be back!

The price was confusing. $30 service charge?? And that's not inclusive of tip? Our total bill was $178 so that would be a 16% service charge which is insane. Usually service charges are a few percent to help cover small costs like cc processing, to-go packaging, things like that. So then on top of that I had to tip of course as I don't want to not give the chef nothing. Just seems a bit extreme. Everything is already on the expensive side which is fine as it's a nice restaurant but the additional service charge was too much. Also the percentage options were incorrect. The amount it told me to tip to make it 18% was actually 26%. Probably an issue with their POS and not them but seems like a money grab and something they should prioritize fixing.

They have a table or two outside but they're not setup for outdoor seating, fyi. The restaurant is nicely decorated and dark, which took some getting used to. We were greeted warmly and chose a booth towards the right. I had noticed their lunch specials offered M-F 11-2pm so we both ordered from that menu. I got the L/Cali+Shrimp Tempura Combo: California Roll (Half Size), Shrimp Tempura Roll (Half Size), Gyoga(3PCS), Miso Soup. My companion got the L/Rainbow+Dynamite Combo: Rainbow Roll (Half Size), Dynamite Roll (Half Size), 2PCS Nigiri (Chef Choice), Miso Soup. Our soups were brought out pretty quickly and our food not long after. For the price point ($12) and quantity, my lunch special was definitely worth it. It came with 10 California rolls, 5 shrimp tempura rolls, and 3 gyozas. I was pleased to see their gyozas have chicken in them, usually they have pork so I can't eat them. I love their purple rice - so unique. I don't think I'd tried it before and it was good. All of the items I tried were fresh and flavorful. Service was great and I was surprised it wasn't busier during their lunch hour. Maybe later on or dinner gets more of a crowd. I'm glad we tried out this spot and I'd love to come back!

So if I do go back, I would probably request them NOT to cook it so long. I ordered my husband a spicy tuna roll and a spicy salmon roll to go. He said the spicy tuna was good but the spicy salmon wasn't - it was as if the salmon quality that was used was poor.

It was very clean inside with ample space between seat. We browsed through the menu and started with our usual edamame and pot stickers. The edamame was salted well throughout where a lot of places just put the salt on top only. We ordered a couple varieties of sake which were both good. Out of all of the things we ordered the karange skewer was just a little more oily than were use to, but still good. The spicy salmon roll had really great flavor and the lollipop roll was probably one of the better versions that we have had. I love Japanese food so my decision was made. I drove over and parked in their complimentary lot. Ambiance (3.5/5): I've been to Japan and there are plenty of izakayas there. Think of them as small bars which often serve solid food. Zu fits that bit. It's a relatively small restaurant, probably seats about 30 people. and it's pretty no frills for a Japanese spot. I was seated at a booth in the corner of the restaurant. They have free WiFi which is always a good touch. Service (3/5): Service was friendly, though a bit inconsistent. My waitress wasn't as attentive as I would have liked. The type of service where you have to flag them down to get what you want and to close out. Drinks (4/5): Zu has a nice menu of Japanese and Korean beverages, including sake, soju, Japanese beer, and more. With that being said, I just had an iced green tea. Food (4/5): I got a nice variety. I went with the Japanese sausage off of the grill menu, the OBI mayo roll off of the sushi menu, and the cheese corn off of the appetizer menu. Let's start with the sausage. It's a small item, two small sausages, but absolutely delicious. The sausage was bursting with flavor and basted in a sweet sauce. Minus the portion size, perfection. The cheese corn also hit the spot, but the execution was off. The corn is served on a hot platter, and unfortunately some of the corn on the edges was badly burnt. The type of situation where they should start over. Which they didn't. Lastly, the OBI mayo roll is essentially a California roll with marinated warm shrimp on top in a mayo sauce. I didn't love the hot and cold combo (shrimp and sushi), but outside of the temperature, it was a delicious roll. All in all, a very food meal. My only gripe with Japanese food is that it can get expensive quick. Given that Zu is in Tempe, I was hoping that prices would be a little cheaper. With that being said, they do have a solid happy hour (and reverse happy hour) with both food and drink specials. Next time I stop by, I'd like to check out some of their Korean options. I focused on the Japanese stuff this time (which makes the majority of the menu). Next time around, the bulgogi is calling my name!

The special was an assortment of various rolls assembled beautifully making each piece stand out. The first bite was divine and as we worked around the ring of rolls they got better and better. The sauces brought perfect harmony and complemented the fish. The sushi was incredibly fresh not having the fishy order lingering. The rolls melted in your mouth like butter leaving you satisfied. It was so good we placed a second order. Bela stopped by frequently checking on us and also telling us about the restaurant and the area and provided a friendly atmosphere that you do not often get in northern Midwest. The Spider Roll was very good except for the sauce on top that did not suite our palate but after removing the sauce it was fantastic. The Hot Mama Roll was also amazing. The flavors went well with the Yuki Mango Nigori Sake. We also tried some of their beers and spent a while catching up. Belas service was second to none and made this reunion fabulous. The sushi at Bei was better than 95% of our sushi restaurants in my state and the price was very good. They also have a cute cat robot that delivers food! Thank you Bela we hope to come back again on our next trip to Arizona to try more food.
