I had a fabulous experience. The food was high quality and flavorful. The owner came to check on us after our meal. We want to try more things from the menu. We had a chicken burrito and fish tacos. Excellent! Also they are open until 10. read more

Stopped in for lunch after going to botanical garden. Overall it's a solid spot for some quick Mexican food/tacos. Fairly small, 6 tables or so, but service very good/prompt. All of our food was good, nothing bad. The tacos/sopes/birria section is nice to order from, can mix and match. I felt some of them could have more flavor, they have quite a few protein options though. The kids chicken tenders and fries were decent. Unlikely to be disappointed here. read more

Family-owned restaurant serving authentic Mexican in a small town. Gotta love it. Pros: You can tell everything is made from scratch. Small menu, full of interesting things I wanted to try. Quesobirrias were my favorite. Service was top notch. Tiny place (5-6 tables) with VERY clean bathrooms. Cons: you have to purchase your chips and salsa, a pet peeve of mine. Salsa was a little strong on the onions. Sodas served in a can or bottle, though I think it lends to the casual feel to the place. Summary: this ain't Taco Bell. Come here when you don't want a chimichanga, but want a tasty quesobirria... eat local. read more

Very great, authentic food. The horchata is house made. The red fish was some of the best fried fish I've ever had. Always worth the walk over from Helicon. Food comes out fast and the staff has always been nice. read more

We are staying at a local hotel before our flight in the morning and found this amazing restaurant on Yelp. WOW!! if you want authentic Hispanic food this is a place to go. They do not have a liquor license, but you can BYOB. Delicious food (and a lot of it!) Thank you to Jose for the wonderful food & conversation! read more

El Marro - Mexican Near Me - Oakdale, Pennsylvania

El Marro is a cute little spot with just a handful of tables to dine-in. The service was great, with both guys working being so friendly and attentive, but we weren't very impressed by the food. The complimentary chips and salsa were delicious and flavorful, but the beef tacos and chicken quesadilla were just okay... not bad but nothing great about them. They seemed kind bland, as did the sides of rice and refried beans. read more

El Marro is a quaint little restaurant in the Oakdale business district. As we entered, we were greeted promptly and both guys working were very friendly and attentive. They have a small dining area with about 6 tables. The lighting in the dining area is very bright, maybe could have a dimmer lighting. All the food came out very fast. We ordered the flautas for an app and they were delicious with the chipotle mayo for dipping and they were stuffed with shrimp. They had very good flavor. For our entrees, we got the steak burrito and the enchiladas. Both dishes were very filling and were very tasty. We are new to the area and glad we checked out this little gem in Oakdale. read more

Wow. This is definitely a hidden gem. We got the Flautas de Camarôns. They are crispy, but not over cooked with tender shrimp and a delicious savory sauce with a perfectly balanced Chipotle mayo. Then fish tacos perfectly fried in deliciously seasoned dough with nice crunch from hard shell inside of soft shell with pico adding the perfect freshness (rice/beans not pictured but also hood). However!! The special combination caldo is one of the best things I've eaten. The broth (made with grouper) is so umami flavorful with just the right hint of spice and plentiful seafood. If its offered it's an absolute must try, as my best description is a hug in a bowl. It was huge, and I could not stop eating it. Then the fried plantains with dulcet is a perfect end to a fabulous meal. Their prices are extremely reasonable for the amount and quality of the food. Our server was also the chef so was able to provide extra details and information. This is not even mentioning the table salsa and chips which were also delicious with the salsa very fresh and refreshing. read more

This family run restaurant is so unbelievably amazing - the food tastes like it is made with love and oh my I'm in love!!! I feel like when I go to some Mexican restaurants they have a big pan of cooked chicken, pork, beef and shrimp that has been sitting there for hours and they use it for whatever you order...tacos, burritos, quesadillas, etc. When your food comes out in five minutes, that's a pretty good clue. This does not appear to be the case with El Marro. Everything appeared to be cooked to order. It was a nice change of pace. We had three different tacos and a burrito. Great value and delicious. I look forward to returning and trying some more of their dishes. Service was excellent. read more

Came in on a Thursday night for takeout. I was greeted immediately by the staff, as well as the bright decor and string lights. I ordered the quesabirria (order of 3). The man who took my order said it would be about 7-10 minutes, but I'd be surprised if it was more than 5 minutes. They were super quick! I drove right home, opened the container, and the food was still piping hot. The salsa picante on the side is amazing. The quesabirria was PERFECT. Juicy, flavorful, cheesy, delicious. The prices are very reasonable. I will be back! I have my eye on the chocoflan. read more

This family-owned Mexican restaurant is a true gem. From the moment you walk in, the warm, welcoming atmosphere makes you feel like part of the family. The food is outstanding--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The fish tacos are a standout: perfectly cooked, light, and packed with flavor. The rice and beans are amazing as well, easily some of the best I've had, and they complement every dish beautifully. The salsa deserves special mention--you can truly taste the freshness of the ingredients in every bite, with bright, authentic flavors that elevate the entire meal. Between the great food, inviting atmosphere, and genuine hospitality, this is a place you'll want to return to again and again. read more

Might be the best restaurant value in Pittsburgh. I had the Diablo shrimp and flan for dessert. Deceptively simple presentation with sophisticated taste. If I lived here, I'd be a regular. If you want to drink, BYOD. read more

Nice small little restaurant with really nice staff. Best ceviche we've had! Great service!

We live near Oakdale and have been curious about this place, so we stopped in early this afternoon to try it out. Luckily, we were there at a quiet time and had the whole place to ourselves for a while - until another couple came in. It's not a big place, but we had plenty of room. It's a family operation - the Dad took care of us while Mom did most of the cooking. I had one of the specials (fish street tacos - accompanied by rice and refried beans) and my wife had a fish burrito from the menu - both were made to order and we enjoyed some chips, salsa and guacamole while we waited. We also sampled their tasty orchata. The portions were ample, so we had plenty left over to take home. And the flan we shared after our lunch was excellent. We also brought home an order of their churros which we have yet to try. Anyway, the food was excellent, the people were very friendly, the place was spotless, and we were very pleasantly surprised all the way around. I think we'll end up being regulars there. Try them out - you won't be sorry! read more

El Marro - Dining - Mexican Near Me - Oakdale, Pennsylvania

We made a reservation for 4 on a Sunday. I think the restaurant is fairly new. They were not busy when we arrived, service was quick with waters and taking our orders. Others with me ordered the shrimp Diablo and the Quesabirria. They enjoyed their dinner. I ordered the Flautas de Cameron, filled with small shrimp, as an appetizer for the table, and the Pescado Al Mojo De Ajo, pictured. Prior to the appetizer arriving, the waiter/owner? Brought out chips and salsa. The salsa was fresh!!! However it had a stronger Smokey chipotle taste, I would have preferred less of the chipotle taste. That was the only minorly disappointing part of the meal. The flautas were amazing, The Pompano Fish was flavorful and very meaty. The fish meat came off the single bone so easily, no rib cage bones. The girls shared the wine that we brought. After dinner the waiter/owner? brought us a complimentary Tres Leche Cake. It was very tasty!! The seating area is limited, but quite cozy. We are sure to return in the near future!!! read more

El Marro - Pescado Al Mojo De Ajo - Mexican Near Me - Oakdale, Pennsylvania

It's not traditional northern Mexican or fast food. They have a varied menu that includes some traditional dishes and several Mexican Seafood disneas known as Mariscos. I have had the Chicken Milanesa, green chile enchiladas, the Pescado al Mojo de Ajo. All were excellent! My wife and granddaughters really liked the Guacamole and my wife the Street Corn. It is a small family run business and a small locale. You can order pickup. If you want fast food El Marro may not be for you. The service is good. But everything is made to order. It is BYOB and has ample parking. It is not pretentious. But is an excellent wholesome Mexican food restaurant. Try it for yourself. I recommend it! For me it is 5 Stars. read more

Food was fantastic and server was very friendly. Prices are high, but food is great. Fresh and cooked to perfection.

Really good Mexican food for a decent price. I started with the chile con queso, which was thick and satisfying with sausage mixed in. I followed that with the Quesabirria tacos. They were great! I'll come back better to try other things, but I might have already found my favorite dish. The tacos would have been a suitable lunch on their own, but I was hungry, so the queso was a fantastic add on. I'll be back here again! read more
