My husband had the chicken fajitas and I had the chimichanga trio. Both were delicious and fresh. The chips were thin and crispy and the salsa was delicious. The service was very friendly and fast! Also, it was more enjoyable than some of the other Mexican restaurants around because it was not so loud! There was a nice "family", neighborhood vibe going on. The only draw back IMO, was that they only have Pepsi products. Didn't take pictures of food. But added pics of the menu.

Their salsa verde tastes just like the kind I make at home. Not only is the food fresh and tasty, but the service was amazing as well. And boy are we jealous of the prices out here. This was literally my first visit back since the pandemic and I was a little excited to go, especially since it was Cinco De Mayo. We were a party of 4 and sadly the service wasn't good. We placed our order well before some larger parties and others who came after us and after watching them get their food, we asked about ours. Our server never came back out of the kitchen until much later but we did finally get our food. They did apologize but never said what the issue was. Despite the issue with service, our food was good. I ordered the spinach enchilada Suizas which had a spicy kick to them. I liked them. Would have loved them if it wasn't for that extra kick. The spinach was also not wilted as it is when I've ordered this dish from other restaurants. The drinks were ok too. Nothing to get excited about but I'm willing to bet they were just a little watered down due to the special day. I am going back because it's a local spot that I've enjoyed in the past.

I wanted to try something new, so the waitress recommended the beef tongue, cheek, and head tacos. They were okay, but a bit lacking in the flavor department for my taste. Juarez Tacos doesn't look like much from the outside, (it's in an old Chinese restaurant…read morestorefront) but once you step in, the food tells you everything you need to know. The smell of grilled meat and warm tortillas hits before you even sit down, and it sets the stage perfectly. I started with tacos, of course. The tortillas were the kind you can tell are made fresh: soft, warm, and sturdy enough to hold everything together without falling apart. I went for al pastor and birria, and both came out packed with flavor. The pastor had that perfect balance of char and spice, while the birria was rich and comforting, dripping just enough to make you lean in over the plate. The real surprise was how much attention went into the small details. The salsas had actual heat, not just color, and they didn't drown out the flavor of the meat. The pineapple agua fresca I ordered on the side was bright and refreshing, a perfect balance to the heaviness of the tacos. Service felt easy and genuine. Nobody was rushing me, nobody was going through the motions, it just had that friendly, neighborhood vibe where you feel like they're glad you stopped in. By the time I finished, I realized Juarez isn't trying to be flashy or reinvent the wheel. They're just serving honest, flavorful food that feels like it belongs exactly where it is. It's the kind of place you think about the next day, when you're already planning what you'll order on your next visit.

Can't believe I am the first one doing a review on Taqueria Hernandez?…read more Anywho, actually went to the Pizza Hut across the street one day, and thats when I noticed the Taqueria Hernandez sign and said I would give them a try. Decided to go on a Saturday, around 2 pm. They were steady, not too busy. The staff was nice and courteous, and greeted me upon entrance. Decided to order a Burrito with Asada (Steak) and Pollo (Chicken) with double meat, told them I didn't mind paying extra for both. Positives on the location - it was clean, and I love their condiment bar. My wait time for the burrito was so/so, and I say that considering what I paid for it, what I received portion-wise, and the quality of the wrap. I paid around $16 for the burrito, so I was expecting a nice stuffed burrito that was wrapped tightly. To my dismay, it wasn't. In regards to the wrap, it was comparable to something I would receive from Taco Bell - so that caught me off guard, considering this was supposed to be an authentic taqueria. Back to the positives. Now the taste of the burrito was spot on - the asada and pollo were well seasoned, and the quality of the ingredients was spot on. I just wish there was more bang for my buck for the portion I received, and the wrap of the burrito was better. Ambiance - average considering this is a taqueria-type establishment. So the ambiance is not bad, but no need to dress up in a tuxedo to get some tacos and/or a torta. I will close out on this. We have a lot of cantinas/taqueria that have opened in the Jackson metro area, and that is a great thing. However, I grew up in Chicago and Cleveland, where our taquerias/cantinas make mean burritos, and it appears that many of the cantinas and food trucks down here are not trying to wow us in that regard down here. Not saying I won't go back, but I think there's room for improvement. The taste of the food was phenomenal, I hope they can step their game up in the future. I would give them 3.5 stars - but since yelp only lets you give whole stars, I will give them a solid 3. Taste of the food is excellent, what keeps me from giving 5 stars - the portions for the price.
