This was our first time visiting Jose's. We've lived in Pearl for a while but had not really heard much about it. So, we gave it a shot. We will be back! My husband had the chicken fajitas and I had the chimichanga trio. Both were delicious and fresh. The chips were thin and crispy and the salsa was delicious. The service was very friendly and fast! Also, it was more enjoyable than some of the other Mexican restaurants around because it was not so loud! There was a nice "family", neighborhood vibe going on. The only draw back IMO, was that they only have Pepsi products. Didn't take pictures of food. But added pics of the menu. read more

The food is good but it is very very salty. I don't know if it is usually so salty or if it was an off nigh, but if it wasn't so salty it would be fantastic. I was also disappointed that the tortillas appeared to be premade. The staff is friendly and the service is pretty quick as well. read more

Food tasted absolutely horrible plus we found a hair on the plate. Waitresses were worried about flirting with old men instead of focusing on other customers. They never even noticed or questioned why we didn't want to eat our food. We used to go here 2+ years ago and the food was either good or decent. The chile relleno with shredded beef was always my favorite. Nothings good anymore. Definitely won't be returning. read more

I've heard terrific things about this place for years... I found myself in Pearl around lunch, so I decided to stop in and try the tamales that I've heard so much about. Meh They had little meat and too much masa and a bland flavor. MS is the mecca for hot tamales, and it's easy to find good tamales, especialy in the delta. While these were not bad, they were not great. Certainly not worth bragging over. If they didn't have the chili and cheese on top, they would have been too bland to eat. read more

My husband and I both had the tamale plate. My beans were so salty that it was all I tasted when I tried to eat them. His beans weren't near as salty as mine. Sadly, the tamales were just ok and the rice was sticky and bland. I think they just had a little too much breading. I didn't finish my plate. However, we did have the guacamole and it was very good. My kids and I were traveling through the area and stopped for some dinner. I ordered the "Burrito on the Border" and it was delicious! It was ginormous and could easily feed two people. The prices were very reasonable. Everyone left happy with their food and some leftovers. read more

I was a little concerned checking out a Mexican restaurant in Mississippi but traveling in the south as a vegetarian is a challenge and veggie fajitas are always a fantastic option. Restaurant was well lit and I was greeted immediately by the hostess. Great wait staff whom was very attentive. I ordered a Dos Equis and veggie fajitas which arrived immediately. The veggies were perfectly seasoned and the yellow rice was as well. Salsa and pico were also delicious. Pretty solid overall. Here's what matters to us: unique entrees, margaritas, guac, kid friendly. Tasty salsa and guac. Wouldn't say menu is all that unique but it's not mundane either. My family has been going here ever since they opened the doors about 17 years ago. Awesome food and awesome family. First lets tackle the people because lets face it, if the staff are rude it just kills everything else. Well no worries here. Jose and Tiffany are just as good as it gets. They treat everyone like family. While there has been the occasional wait staff issue a short chat with the owners (Jose or Tiffany) saw quick remedy to that. As with most things just simply letting them know what is wrong (or right) can make a world of difference. Now for the food. To sum it up in one word: Awesome. My favorite is the carnitas fritas. If I happen to be there on a Saturday at lunch I'll get the ceviche which is to die for! And they only serve it on Saturday so if you want it you better be there early. I have honestly never had anything there that I didn't like. I have to thank Ricky for my new jam though.... the Guisado (steak and potato). It is a hearty meal that will stay with you for a while. If you need a great meal on a budget I'd suggest the chorizo con huevos (sausage and eggs). Needless to say, if you leave here hungry it is your own fault! read more

I'm not sure where the other reviewers went to, or if my family and I just got lost, but we must not be talking about the same place. We noticed no Latinos, which for me as a tourist is a concern because I was looking forward to authentic Mexican food. The tables and chairs need to be steam cleaned, the floors need to be degreased, and the menus need to be washed, preferably in a dishwasher. One of Pearl's best kept secrets. The salsa is fresh tasting & has texture. (Not a tomato flavored mystery liquid). Although the menu doesn't offer anything that has the "wow" factor the "Frito burrito" is a hit & they offer good daily specials. Will definitely return. Servers could be more attentive. read more
