This place has recently opened and it was lunch time so we tried "El Jalisco Mexican Restaurant". As you drive up to the restaurant you notice a good amount of parking which is a good thing. Upon entering the restaurant you can see a good amount of places to sit down. It seems that they have daily specials during the week. But the menu consists of mostly Mexican food, soups and children items and a few other things. I ordered the a Barbacoa Plate, it comes with rice and charro beans, guacamole and corn or flour tortillas. The dish was prepared nicely all the flavors were present. Their drink options are great too, they have sodas and ice tea, regular coffee and Aguas Frescas, and a good amount of alcoholic beverages. I chose the cantaloupe agua fresca, it was really good. The service was awesome, quickly took our orders and was brought out in a timely manner, but before our meal was served a basket of chips and salsa was brought out, a good flavor on the salsa. Overall it's a good addition to the food scene in Seguin.

I searched…read moreon Apple Maps "places to eat near me" and looked quickly at the reviews and took a chance- BEST DECISION MADE!! We arrived on Sunday around 6pm, parking is on the street or side of restaurant. Walking in it was old timey vibes and dim lights, the bar was lit up beautifully! We were sat immediately (sit yourself) and a server came up and handed us menus and said "please place orders at the bar for drinks and food" ORDER was: regular burger add cheese and tots, jalapeño burger with fries, pulled pork sliders With absolute seriousness, the food was AMAZING! It took a little while to make (maybe 30ish minutes) but the wait was worth it, the patty itself was fresh and very tasty (and I'll add the veggies on the burger were very fresh!!) We will absolutely be back!!

There is really only two choices, a mac and cheese place and Mikey's Cheesesteaks which I will review separately. Definitely need more options, not sure if they have food trucks in the summer or not, but need more. Let's skip to the best attribute, the ambiance. Love the old elementary school layout, with the courtyard and various little businesses in the old classrooms. The bar is in what I assume was the old cafeteria, which was roomy with various seating options. There was a couple guitar players playing which was nice, and prices were reasonable. Now the low point. The afternoon bartender couldn't wait to get out of there fast enough. We asked for the game outside on the big TV as there was nobody there but us. She told us to ask the night bartender as she was about to leave (not sure why that was important and she was there another 15 minutes before relief arrived), but we had almost an hour so we got our drinks and sat down. After shift change we ordered round two and asked for the outdoor TV as instructed, but in the meantime someone had asked for the basketball game so we got a TV near us in the bar. Whomever had requested the outdoor TV didn't even make it to halftime of there game, but by then I didn't feel like moving. Great history, great idea, just lacking in execution at this point. I hope things work out.

It was made possible by the Second Baptist Church. It was called Abraham Lincoln School. In 1892 the school became part of the Seguin public school system. In 1925 the name was changed to Ball High School after its first principal and one of the founders. The school ceased being segregated in 1966. There is a sports bar here called Seguin Schoolyard (opened in 2024). However, the entire grounds are also known as the Seguin Schoolyard as they are an extension of the bar. This review is for everything because it's a really cool concept. There is a huge outdoor area with a stage that is kinda sorta giving Luckenbach vibes. Lots of covered and uncovered seating featuring picnic tables and deck chairs. A great outdoor stage for local and national performers. The outdoor space also has an outdoor bar for concerts. The grounds are lined with several businesses including a bakery, hair salon, art center for kids, cheesesteak shop, the namesake bar, shops, and more. What a great addition to Seguin! Heck, Paul Wall will be performing there in November 2025. The (indoor) bar itself is spacious and comfortable with bar seating as well as living area-style seating. The staff are super fun, friendly, and attentive. Family, kid, & pet-friendly.

Our mixologist, Logan (absolutely wonderful human being) not only made us the most delicious pecan praline whiskey cocktail but he also gave use some incredible history on the space & of course the ghosts! The limestone walls are original. Much of the decor adorning the walls was found in the building. Some of the wall hangings include an original bond and doctor prescriptions for whiskey. The furnishings and accessories complement the rooms to enhance the feeling of old-west prohibition. The velvet pieces exemplify burlesque. Total "hitch your horse to a post, mosey on down for a secret drink and a good time" vibes. Logan spun a tale of ghosts appearing in selfies taken by previous guests. The story was sensational and I was all about it. A wonky thing happened with the POS system while we were there that required a reboot. I joked that the ghosts thought I was taking too many pictures. Dark, moody, sexy, and relaxing...everything you want in a speakeasy---& good drinks too, of course. Absolute works of liquid art!

We came on a weekday therefore it wasn't busy at all. The bartender was very friendly. Cocktails were great. The small room we took did have some plush red velvet seats and leather sofas as they try to set the mood of the 1920's prohibition era. The other room felt weird with the restroom washing station being next to the seating.

It has a classy, tasteful speakeasy vibe without feeling overdone or pretentious. They also have a private room that would be great for a special group gathering or a more intimate celebration. The grand piano in the room adds a really elegant touch and makes the space feel even more elevated. We went on a Monday night, so it's hard to say what the normal energy is like on a busier evening, but the overall atmosphere was still very pleasant. Service was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated. The only thing I would have loved was a little more creativity or guidance with the cocktails. The space gives the impression that you're about to get a true mixologist-style experience, but the recommendations we received were pretty standard, like Old Fashioneds and martinis. We were hoping for something a little more unique or original, maybe a twist on a Sidecar or an elevated take on a classic Old Fashioned. That said, it's still a beautiful spot with great ambience, pleasant service, and a very nice overall feel. I would definitely go back, especially on a busier night to see the full vibe.
