    Empanada

Food was simple but perfectly seasoned, perfectly accompanied by sides like fried plantain! We got ceviche which had a perfect citrusy and savory flavor. They brought us a complementary empanada while we waiting and we did not wait long. Finally, the place is beautifully decorated in traditional fashion. Will definitely come back and bring my Peruvian friends

Great food on division. Hard to find delicious and authentic Peruvian food in Portland, but if you use your detective skills enough, you'll eventually find one. This place has a good selection but the one that has great flavor is the spiced chicken. I really enjoyed it and it goes well with the rice. The salads were good too and the appetizers. You need to try them. Support this small business!

I missed this place when they closed two years ago. I was delighted to see them reopen in Portland. The restaurant itself is not a place you go to for ambiance. Parking is on the street. However the warmth and friendliness of the proprietor lights up the place. We had the anticuchos, empanadas, chaufa, cordero seco , and caucau de mariscos . Everything tasted great. I had asked for the caucau to be prepared without salt. Even without the salt, the flavors came through. I'll definitely be coming back here to satisfy my Peruvian food cravings.

Grab a roasted chicken from Costco or Fred Meyer and go home and throw it out. They're ok but they don't come close to the flavor delivered by the spice-infused, wood-smoke cooked birds offered by this Peruvian eatery. Owner Claudia Fernandez is from Guatemala but discovered Peruvian pollo la brassa -- barbecued chicken -- in Los Angeles and recreated the dish at home. Her family came to Gresham in 2009 and has been wowing guests every since. The chicken is moist and flavorful and the three sauces provided in squirt bottles are also very good.

Roasted chicken and some of the tastiest fries in town!

If I want my fire roasted chicken fix, I'll go out of my way and venture here. After a few visits, I don't think I can find another place that has chicken as moist, juicy, and well seasoned as other joints in town. One of my best friends insisted there is a place that has Peruvian food that won't break the bank. I caved in finally and checked it out myself. The interior is small and quaint. The service is spot on and super friendly. It is best to come here in small groups since the place is not huge. For anyone that is new in coming here - get the whole chicken combo. It can easily feed 2-3 people for about 20 bucks or so. It comes with about 6 or so pieces of roasted chicken with some of the best home made fries in town. They remind me of how my mom used to make them and these are fluffy and tender fries that are waiting to be dipped in the home made sauces. The salad is pretty sad however - just iceberg lettuce and some veggies topped off - I recommend skipping the salad and ask for a substitute if possible. Get the $1.50 2 liter Inca Cola to help wash down all that goodness too. It may not be for everyone but it is definitely worth a try. There are about 5-6 home made sauces you can dip the food in - the red spicy sauce kicks siracha out of the ballpark. The garlic cream sauce is also a great alternative to the spicy red sauce. The green sauce is unique and tastes better mixed with the red sauce. The whole chickens can and have run out in the past due to the sheer popularity and the price factor. Luckily it hasn't happened to me yet but I heard other dishes are just delicious too. So if your looking to try other Peruvian restaurants - this will not disappoint one bit!

We drove about 15 miles to try this restaurant and after reading the positive reviews. We arrived around 6:30pm midweek. There was a table of 2 already done with their dinner so it wasn't busy or crowded. Our party of 7 ordered the fish stew, caucau (tripe) stew , chicken in cream sauce (benchmark) seafood soup and roasted chicken. All were delicious and flavorful. Loved the chicken in cream sauce . It tasted creamy and the chicken was very tender. It was this dish that turned me onto Peruvian god and it was a winner. All the dishes were tasty and I loved how it was perfectly portioned that we had even leftovers to pack up! We all tried each other's. But the most nicest thing w as the complimentary chicken and rice soup that was so hearty and full of chicken and vegetables. It was a meal in itself! It warmed me up in the cold evening. The service was quick and courteous too!

I am shocked and disappointed that this place is no longer open!!! What? What? What happened? This was the best place in the world and hit every category, anyone have a replacement suggestion?

What happened? Why is it closed now??? This is my go to place when I'm in town..

If it's Monday they don't open. Family run maybe some problems at home if its not Monday.

Never having beef heart before, the Anticuchos intrigued us. They were great and will definitely have again. The Lomo Saltado with chicken was good but I'd try something different in the future. The Seco Norteno was amazing. The beef was very tender, well flavored and balanced well with the milder tasting beans and rice. The Picarones were also a first. The fig syrup was a great accompaniment. We all enjoyed the meal a will return

The story goes on. During the short wait for food, a quick browse of the market attached inspired another trip for further exploration. A tamal to start. Nice flavor, texture, and a huge portion. The anticuchos were perfectly seasoned and tender. The picky child (and the foodie tia) ate them up with a yummy stewed tomato dish on the side and a bite of fresh corn sliced from the cob. Cau cau was next. Choosey Kid loved the rice while his mom's sister enjoyed potatoes, peas, and carrots in a savory sauce with tender tripe. The poor baby was not a fan of a cow's stomach lining. It was, in fact, delicious. Dessert was packaged to go and gobbled up later that night. Although it cannot be reported on what it's like fresh, it was a great consistency hours later in the fridge. When the question arose whether the dessert was supposed to be cold but the answer was unknown, half was heated up. Both ways were a delight. Not runny, not mushy, but juuuuust right for this Aunt Goldilocks and her little nibling bear.
